Start playing Gta Online on Ps4 now, is it a good idea?

I would like to ask you this, a "friend" of mine asked me if i was ok to buy Ps4 (or even on Pc) to start playing Gta Online (next gen of course) from the beginning, since we cannot no more move our data from Ps3 to Ps4. But my question is: seeing all the new content added during these years, is it still worth starting everything again? How much time should i spend to reach a high level again and most of all making enough money to enjoy all the possibile content? I think it could be a little "expensive" in these terms, and i don't play no more all the time that i used to in the past. What do you think about it? Thanks

Do you wanna grind for days because gta is going to be hard for new players. Pc at least u can use tools to recover your account.

Most new players now just give r* money and its not enough.

It shouldn't be an issue.. It takes no skill and it's very kid friendly! Knock your socks off!

Yeah, just don't buy a Criminal Enterprise Starter Pack and you'll be fine.

This. Most items in that pack are worthless. Most Shark Cards are better value than this.

Don't let the "10 million GTA$ worth in items" fool you. Yes, everything in this pack combined costs 10 million combined if you were to buy all of it, but you wouldn't buy most of it, none of it is high-end or endgame.

Also, the items in the starter pack are only marked as "free" so you don't get anything you can sell for money.

So, the effective value of the starter pack is not GTA$ 10 million, but GTA$ 1 million.

criminal enterprise starter pack includes:

things of no value to me:

- the worst bunker location (trust me, you'll want move out of it to a better location at some point. Your business is doomed to fail in )

- an unarmed helicopter (frogger), which you need to pick up from the other side of the map usually.

- a useless weaponized vehicle (dune FAV)

- a long list of unremarkable cars and clothing items

- an apartment, but it is not a high end one

- 10-car garage

Really? couldn't they just give you one High end apartment? I am noticing a trend here.

things of some value to me:

- some weapons. At least you won't start out with just a pistol.

- an office, although the cheapest one, it's a good starter office

things that should have been in the pack but are not:

- small crate warehouse

- Buzzard helicopter. You can spawn it next to you as CEO

- Duke o'Death or Armored Kuruma

Agree to an extent, it certainly wasn't worth it years ago when it was like 40$ or whatever it was,  that said right now it's only a few bucks.

I didn't pick up the game until about 6 months ago and it really helped me out as it's hard in 2020 for new players.

The office allowed me to stay as a VIP and start buying warehouses, I made over 20 million from the Paleto bunker before I moved to Chumash, and the counterfeit cash factory is in a decent location albeit without the upgrades. The marksman is also a useful weapon.

All in all it definitely wasn't worth the price when it came out but I'm glad I bought it.

it wont be easy, personally knowing what i know, i wont dare starting in gtao unless i have a few people willing to help me for the first few weeks because the grind is real.

the way the game is structured is not very welcoming for newcomers.

As someone who recently got out of the game, I'd very much advise against it. PS4 player here, the grind is worse than ever and the gameplay is still mediocre.

You are bound to spend most of your days being killed repeatedly by people using overpriced griefing toys, or sitting in a desynced lobby, grinding away in peace while still never meaningfully getting anywhere.

The game is designed to be frustrating or tedious to the point that you give Rockstar money to skip the grind, only to be rewarded with low quality clothing, broken missions, broken cars, and bugs that have existed since 2015 that have not been fixed, and will not be fixed.

Don't buy a starter pack, don't buy the game again. You got out early, and you honestly, unironically, won out over all of us. Take your money and run.

If you're starting today, just glitch your money. You'll be happier because you won't have to treat this like the second job it became.

Yep. Missions and VIP until I'd run the criminal mastermind on old heists once I've hit rank 25, I'd buy the heavy utility vest and a Kuruma asap for that. Then buy an arcade to run the casino heist a dozen times and use that to set up a nightclub pretty easily with a hangar and bunker linked at least for an easy million a week from then on.

From there it's plain sailing. It'd only take a week, lol. If that. :)

Depending on sales I would disagree. I played on disc for years but got too lazy to keep swappings discs around so I sold it and bought a digital copy and got the premium edition with the starter pack on sale for only $2 or $3 extra. Honestly if I was a new player I would pay $5 for it. The office is really good, the Turismo R is a decent super car to get around the map quickly, the Huntley S and Banshee are decent cars, the Compact Grenade Launcher is nothing to complain about and the 10 car garage while crappy for new players is good when you already own a high end apartment and need more garage space. You also get $1 million.

If you do buy the game I would go for the premium edition if it is $5 more than just the base game but I wouldn't pay more than that for it.

Yes, i see that you understood my worries. I mean, of course is a "good" game in the meaning that is complete and full of activities, but the idea of starting again from zero with all these things to unlock, buy etc. it's not really the best for new players. I mean, after all on ps3 i've reached level 100 and a good amount of goods in 3/4 months, but now i'm pretty sure that the time needed would be really really higher and i don't really have enough time to play to make everything for good again.

I just started from scratch with another char.

I recommend it. Gta0nline can still be a lot of fun.

And making money is so much easier than 5 years ago.

Back then all you had was missions and heists, bounties and selling cars outta traffic.

Now you got all these collectibles you run into. Freemode events and challenges.

You got modded self made afk survivals. The lucky wheel.

Visitor bonus chips.

More missions.

All that ceo and biker stuff..

However, if you get your hands on 50 k, which is really easy, you can register as a VIP.

Now you're golden.

For a low rank, executive search is perfect.

If players come for you you gotta defend yourself but if you aren't bothered you got 10 minutes to improve your strength, knocking out peds.

Steal cars (RP bonus), improve stamina or lung capacity, depending on where your search circle is.

Improve stealth, etc.

Once you've become a VIP you got easy access to fast making money opportunities

Lately I've more than ever been having the same idea as the OP, to aquire a console and start over there to escape the PC bullsh*t. For me it'd be no problem starting over from scratch, I'm one of the crazy ones that actually enjoy grinding to an extent, I just can't decide if I should get a Ps4P now or wait for the 5..

Buying a PS4 solely to play GTA Online when the PS5 is already knocking on the door? Nope.

Buying the PS4 for cheap to play other games with the GTA Online might be worth more, but at this rate I'd rather get myself a gaming PC since PS5 is scheduled to be released near this year's Christmas.

You will certainly be overwhelmed by so much new content and is very likely to miss most of it, but besides that and the fact that the game is considerably harder now due too many overpowered toys being used by tryhards in free roam, it should still be worth it.

Just stay clear from Free roam while you build up your fortune again, free roam wars were always a money sink but now they're even worse.

Pay attention to 2x and 3x events and you will rack RP rewards and blast through the first 100 levels easily.

Casino heists are a good money maker for you and your friend too.

It will be expensive, everything worth buying nowadays will be a few millions of dollars worth.

The Criminal Enterprise starter pack has a bunch of useless sh*t in it but at least it will get you all the essential businesses so you can skip a large part of the grind, but don't spend more than $10 on it because it isn't that much worth it.

the thing is that just like in real life, in gtao you need money to make money that includes glitching money.

even the easiest duping glitches requires you to own million of dollars worth of equipment like bunker, moc, etc etc

overall i agree, glitch money, buy whatever you want and enjoy the game.

Talking about modding, what's your experience about that? On Ps3 you cannot join a public session without crazy stuff going on with no limits, and btw i had a serious trouble related to this that Rockstar never helped me to resolve (i've also started a topic here asking for advice) even if i've contacted them personally to report the fact.

My thought is modding money into your account completely ruins the game as it was intended, like skipping to the end of a story. Some on this board will have you think that the game's impossible for new players, but as someone who only started 6 months ago and has everything I would consider the grind totally worth it.

At the very least if you do mod don't become a griefer.

It's never a good idea to play anything on PS, unless you enjoy waggling around 2 convex shaped mushrooms with your thumbs, instead of 2 comfortable concave recesses on XB. You can either hold a tiny Barbie and Ken sized controller or a heavy, meaty, man-sized one.

Absolutely not, i`ve never modded and it`s not my intention, i was asking because i`ve experienced on Ps3 multiple crashes and several problems correlated to modded sessions, it was just to know if even on ps4 the situation is the same or not

Nah I don't think there are mods on PS4, PC however is a cesspool.

I had to buy an XBOX style aftermarket controller to use with my PS3 (bought just so that I could play those Uncharted games) because I couldn’t get along with their standard, crappy controller.
