Wolfhawk33
Ok so I was reading on some tropes about GTA 3, and I saw that one of the characters (King Courtney) was listed as a karma houdini(someone gets away with doing something really bad) But after thinking about how most GTA games work, can he really be considered a karma houdini? Here's why he can be considered a karma houdini He's the only antagonist who got away with trying to kill the protagonist + he's a powerful crime boss Here's why he may not actually be a karma houdini Well seeing as how he refused to meet Claude in person, then chances are he's trying to hide from the public, and it's kinda hard to run things normally when you constantly have to stay hidden, on top of that, because he failed to kill Claude, he probably got into an argument with Catalina, and we all know how she is, finally, in the GTA series, powerful crime figures, are usually killed, so him ending up being killed in a fire fight or whatever is kinda believable But let's be honest even he was a true karma houdini, who got away with his actions, he wouldn't be as bad most of the GTA protagonists. Earthbound
It's not the first time King Courtney put a hit out on one of the protagonists either. King Courtney ordered a hit on Mike in GTA Advance. He got away with that too. Everything in the GTA canon would assume he is in fact, as you say, a karma houdini. Anything else is just conjecture. It's true what you say though, no antagonist is really as bad as the protagonist in these games. Copcaller, Sunglasses and Wolfhawk33

Copcaller
He's definitely a karma Houdini screwing over two main characters and not getting killed for it

stef_92
I'm not sure if King Courtney can be called antagonist. The antagonist in the game is Catalina (and maybe Miguel too). Just because someone at some point screws over the protagonist doesn't make them antagonist. If that's your logic then you have to assume that Salvatore is also antagonist. The main antagonist/final boss of the game is Catalina, yes, but King Courtney, Salvatore, gangs like the Triads, etc. can be considered antagonists because they are opposing the protagonist. stef_92
It's good that you provide the definition but pay attention to the word "actively"
Earthbound
What's your point stef_92? How is King Courtney not actively opposing the protag? He was directly and actively involved in coercing Claude into a death trap in the mission 'Kingdom Come', pretty sure that puts him firmly in the antagonist category.... He WAS actively opposing you in Kingdom Come, just like how Catalina begins actively opposing you once she discovers that you survived her gunshots. GhettoJesus
Yeah he is definitely a karma houdini. I feel bad for his betrayal though, some more Jamaican missions could have been fun.
