I have nothing against a "Fight Club" DLC idea but dear Lord they better not do it as long as the horrible melee system stays in-game. Which will likely be forever. Would be amazing to get a new, rehashed melee system that actually feels like you're hitting your opponent.

In RDO though, now that's a game with such a nice melee system, fit very much for Fight Club indeed IMHO

A melee overhaul likely wouldn't be possible at this point, since the game engine is a decade old. Otherwise? Yeah, I'd be game for some sort of fight club deal. Add some new tunes to LSRR from Stan Bush ("Kumite" from Bloodsport), Joe Esposito ("You're the Best (Around)" from Karate Kid), etc.

A movie heist, though, sounds more on par with what the DLCs end up being. And I'm so game for some movie-themed additions to vehicles and weaponry, because there's a ton of untapped IPs that could have their own R* takes added.

A Fight Club DLC doesn't fit within a DLC budget. With all due respect, there are new technologies trending within the industry. And those technologies end up being utilized within whole new games or sequels. Motion Matching is an example and it would upgrade the animation system to such a level it could solve the issues with the melee system. However, that's not gonna fit at all within a DLC budget. Although, it would definitely fit within a sequel budget. In fact, upgrades like this became a standard nowadays for sequels like GTA6.

Yeah so pretty much everything would be more exciting than a Fight Club DLC. Imagine having to level up to Fight Club rank 1000 to unlock the last item. Whatever that would be. :kekw:

I would rather have more weapon variety, it would be nice if they add a crossbow, bow and throwing knives, throwing axes and stuff like that, it would make stealth gameplay a bit more exciting. There aren't enough throwable and "exotic" weapons.

I mean sure an overhaul of the melee system would be nice, but a Fight Club DLC isn't really needed. And it's very very very unlikely to ever get this DLC.

TL:DR Fight Club DLC no, melee system overhaul yes. I want x-bows, bows, throwing knifes and axes.

I mean, GTA is not Batman Arkham Series of how good was the stealth and the melee combat system. I don't think that those weapons would do much if not used only for stealth kills, but even for that, you would need to have a complete different stealth system mechanics in this game. We are talking of a game were you can be in the back whispering in the hear of a npc enemy and they don't noticed a thing, you may run in their backs they will not listen, you may be in front of them by 5 meters of disstance, which they would perfectly see you but they don't if the cone vision only have let's say 2 meters of range. But to be honest, i see here that many people when asking for some stuff for GTA Online, they only think about that sort of thing as needed to be the main dlc theme. Wan't a fight club? Then we must have a Fighting Club DLC. Want some pool as a free mode game to enjoy with friends? We need a 8-Pool World Championship Los Santos DLC. Want bowling in the game? We need a Let's Go Bowling DLC featuring Roman, opening a Bowling Alley as a front Bussiness for his ilegal gambling room in the basement (and to be honest, unintentionally, i think i just gave a good idea of a DLC theme, lmao :kekw:).

But seriously, for that kind of stuff we don't need a full fleshed DLC based on that, this kind of bullsh*t should be in the freaking game since day 1 even. This is the problem with R*...you have cool feature in GTA A, then GTA B will not have and only in GTA C may have it again. While GTA V brought Tennis as a new thing in the GTA franchise, they prefered to add with that only Darts which many people don't know how to play and Golf, which is the most elitist bourgeois boring game ever (not sh*tting on you, reader, if you like it, but all i'm saying is that it's not a popular game, billiards or bowling would do better or even a card game that doesn't have a gambling side or half of the players would get f*cked and unable to play because those idiotic restrictive gambling laws).

One problem that i see with GTA Online DLC's is that everthing must be connected in some shape or form to the DLC theme itself, but no really, why? Can't for example, let's imagine, Michael DLC about Movie Studio and then notify players "hey look, we also opened a bar here in X area of Los Santos, go check it, you can play some billiards there" or even opening restaurants in the city to go there refill healt (Cluckin Bell, Burguer Shot, etc). Simple. 🤷‍♂️

Geeze is right.  lol  An assumption is what YOU "think" they will do WITHOUT any proof not what R* WILL actually do.  smh

Only the most delusional of snake-oil-salesman-supporters and faith healers customers would actually believe that any of my “assumptions“ are based on anything but absolute fact. Or need I remind you that the company you are beseeching, on bended-knee, for some garbage-DLC idea is the same company that brought us DE, E&E, a complete lack of single player support, and almost no meaningful fixes for the aforementioned crap ass trilogy release. But seriously, good luck getting your nonsensical idea implemented by a company that can’t even get rid of cheaters , improve basic quality of life in their online servers, and whose parent company has been engaged in a systematic process to take down modders who actually improve the game better than rockstar seems even close to willing to do.

Oh lol and for the record, I don’t need to do comedy. You’re insane, unhinged idea for “fight club“ is plenty comedic enough for the both of us.

Fighting club should be just a side thing to the game, like a mini-game/free mode activity. Which we need real free mode activities that entertains, not those free mode challenges. Fightclub, comedy club, billiards, bowling, etc.

I suppose as long as it was just some slapped together, inconsequential side job or diversion, that didn’t require severe amounts of development time, maybe buried in some much larger DLC, then who cares, right? This whole idea is nothing I’m actually interested in, but if they want to spend five minutes vomiting out some “job“ with the mediocre combat system in the game, then whatever. Go for it. But I think that some of the people, including the OP of this thread, are looking for some thing a lot more extensive. And I just think it would be a huge, huge waste of resources  and development, when there are so many way better ideas for them to focus on.

So much fun could've been added over the years, but 80% of the 'updates' have only encouraged dishonorable griefing and means to eff up other players profit (and sharkcard sales) .. and creation and usage of online cheat menus.
At the same time we saw what happened to RDR2 online. It's players were doing their own thing with friends, or even newfound 'friends', and if someone started to 'grief' ..even as in killing a few people for no reason, they got pinned down until they had to leave the servers.
A happy and 'honorable' playerbase (or add mature too, just to make their case worse) is the worst enemy of Rockstars micro economy. (so I guess they were almost happy of the RDR2 servers constantly being blown up by unhappy failed griefers with menus)
There actually weren't any real problem with RDR2 Online.. as long as a semi-fun world to virtually exist in felt like reason enough to play. Sadly people aren't that interested in (co-)existing in a virtual world.

A Fight Club DLC would've fit well into RDR2 too, and in GTA Online, with basic fighting in RDR2 and GTA IV already being better than GTA V's quite basic fighting.
In the long emptiness of no Skategames on the horizon at all they missed yet another opportunity, as they actually made Thrasher back in the day, that sadly were released almost at the same time as Tony Hawk, and harder and a bit more realistic, and hardly ever heard of or seen outside of the most hardcore skategame-fans.
Sure a niche that would prolly attract less people than their Lowrider DLC's.. but an open goal for years, and a few BMX/skate-parks are already spread out in the game.

But sure.. give us a flying bike with missiles and orbital lasers.. and some feel the need to own and use them.. and are easier to sell than anything fun/different/peaceful yet competitive.

Excuse me for not understanding but Im not sure why you factor "new trending technologies" into the budget as if theyre a must to make the DLC.   Motion Matching sounds cool but the animations arent the main problem with the mele so it would not solve the issues as you claim.  We would still have these terrible fight mechanics.  Whats needed and would certainly fit within a DLC budget is better execution.  Simply reassigning commands and adding some new animations which I have proposed in the OP would make much more of difference than an updated animation system.

Severe development time isnt relevant considering how long they take between each DLC.  They have plenty of time especially for something like this which I might add will only be a "part" of the DLC like dancing to nightclubs not the main focus although an Arena Wars treatment would be sick.  Either way it wont include the current "mediocre system" you mentioned.  The system will get within-budget improvements.  Lastly,  you say people including me are looking for something a lot more extensive.  I think it is the opposite.  We are asking for something in line with the current game and it is YOU guys who keep saying "complete overhauled system or nothing".

This is pretty much what I put in the OP.  lol  Although it wont be a freemode activity like Tennis.  I imagine it more like dancing in the nightclub when it comes to socializing with other players and a competitive side with rankings,  trophies,  etc like Arena Wars.  As for freemode,  I came up with this,

There will be multiple fight modes or types of fights to take part in to earn money from.  They are...

GYM FIGHTS - These fights only take place in a gym.  There will be two modes.

  • Sparring - practice fights with no damage and for no money vs a NPC or another player (this mode increases you fight strength)
  • Challenges - non practice fights with damage vs NPCs and other players who visit your gym and challenge you.  Players can also bet on the fight with payout up to $10,000.

STREET FIGHTS - These are fights against NPCs and take place in freemode.  They will work like Franklin's Hitman payphone missions.  Call Mori and he'll tell you where to go.  A colored circle will pop up on the map.  Go there,  beat up the target and get paid.  Could be a "my guy vs your guy" challenge taken up by Mori,  some bully needs his ass kicked or a mele only retrieval mission like Tequi-la-la for MC.   R* could even add the same bonus element from the payphone missions such as completing it a certain way.

FIGHT CLUB FIGHTS - These are the Fight Club fights that get offered to you by Mori at your gym.  These fights are linked to your Fight Club Career.  Similar to service car sales for the Autoshop,  you will get a call from Mori at random times offering you a Fight Club fight.  These fights will take place in unknown locations around the city.

PRIZE FIGHTS - These will work exactly like Premium Races in freemode.  Instead of a gold race flag on the map it'll be a gold fist icon.  Go there and enter to compete in a job hosted fight tournament.  Unfortunately Premium Races are hard to do because they must have 8 players.  My suggestion to ensure we get to play this often is to not lock it to 8 players.  Instead allow 4,  8 or even 16 player events with the incentive of the more players involved the bigger the winnings.  The way these fights will work is once the job starts.  Two players are placed in the fight area while the rest are outside of it in spectator mode.  Once the fight is over two new players are placed in the area to fight and so on until everyone has fought or the time is up.  Payout can be up to $100,000.  Just like any other job there will be options for different rules to fight under such as...

  • Last man standing - You lose once and you're out and become a spectator like in Arena Wars. The game will then keep matching up the winners until all but one has been eliminated.
  • Set number of KOs - First person to reach a set number of knockouts.  The game will keep matching up players until the number of knockouts is reached.
  • Time limit - Gain as many knockouts as you can.  Whoever has the most when the time runs out is the winner.

Well, rather than continue to quote bomb one another and going point-by-point, round after round, I will just say that I don't think this is a good idea, though I am more apathetic about it at least if they make it like some side diversion, ala dating or bowling. Still, if I had my way, they would spend lots of time in really developing DLC that would be more in-keeping with GTAO ideas and would add a lot to the game. But sure, if they want to do some five-minute throwaway diversion like Fight Club, then whatever. Probably a good idea to get Grove Street Games to do it, since they specialize in trivial, meaningless content.  (lol sorry, I couldn't resist)

All that said, since we have debated this, and I stated and stood by my opinion, I don't want to SPAM up your thread with more argument, since we can so easily agree to disagree, given how passionate you are about this.

Good luck, maybe you'll get the DLC you want.
