Wolfhawk33
Ok so can someone explain to me the logic behind R*'s reason for treating the 3D games and HD games, like they're in separate universes, because the 2 reasons I got so far are (in my opinion) not really good Reason 1: R* wanted to change up the maps(most likely show they can show the capabilities of newer console) and so they decided to create the "HD universes" in order to have new version of old places My counter: why couldn't they just, take the cities and towns from the 3D universes, and just enhance them a bit (make them look better, give them more buildings etc) that way players who put a lot a time in GTA games like GTA SA, would instantly be familiar with GTA 5 Reason 2: they wanted to change, what it means to be a criminal. My counter: how is that a reason, for putting GTA 4/5 in a separate universe, from the 3D games? Now look if I'm missing any other reasons, or if the current reasons that I currently have up are wrong than please let me know.
Earthbound
It's pretty simple really. Rockstar are in the business of selling games. Each game is a showcase of what is possible with the technology of the time. As the player, we expect a new and exciting experience with each iteration of the series. I love the idea of revitalising older titles, but the modding community has that buttoned up. Algonquin Assassin

LCS and VCS already done something like that when they used the same cities with some minor alterations to the GTA III and Vice City counterparts. The more I think of it I think that’s one of reasons I couldn’t get into those games as it felt like I was just back tracing what I had already experienced before. Even if some people don’t like the maps in GTA IV and GTA V at least they feel different than slapping a fresh coat of paint on something old. iiCriminnaaL and KingAJ032304

I'm ok with having the HD games, I just think it's unnecessary to act like the games in HD, are in a different universe to the ones in 3D

Ok I understand your point here, but their is a way to explain how the places in the HD games, look completely different to the 3D games, while at the same time keeping them all in the same universe They could've just said something like "over the years both lc and ls have gone through many different changes, new roads, new buildings, and new people" Edited May 3, 2020 by Wolfhawk33 Typo

It's kinda like making a whole new set of animation and recorded npc dialogue for the next game, it's not necessary but it definitely helps it feel different.
