TWIST_OF_HATE
no way just download separate version with patch 4 installed, or download original unpatched game, and install patch 4 on it
Gravarty
You can downgrade by extracting all previous patches down to 1.0.4.0 and move it into the GTA IV install folder. It's not a true 100% downgrade but it works. You have to install a font fix though since it's completely missing without it. Oh, nvm.. This won't work with the new Complete Edition, sorry. Either it wont start at all, since LaunchGTAIV.exe is missing or it will break EFLC. You can find the original retail version for cheap on ebay. You can also buy it used since the activation code from steam also works with the retail version. Edited May 1, 2020 by Gravarty
GTAVI(CE)
I tested it with my retail version of the game. For me 1.0.4.0 runs bad. The shadows look ugly. And night-shadows are missing, but i really like them. With 1.0.8.0 runs noticeable smoother and according to the video below they shifted the bottleneck from CPU moreover to GPU which is good. So i recommend staying with latest version... What exactly should be the benefit of old 1.0.4.0 ? Crappy ENB mods? I like vanilla GTA OK one problem with newest patch are obviously sometimes the vehicle-sounds and VRAM-Bug. Lets hope R* brings one more patch to fix this.
