Assassin's Creed Valhalla

Yeah it's not just the animations either. The character models look...unfinished? I'm not sure what it is exactly but Kassandra and Alexios looked fine and so did Bayek. They shouldn't look like this four months from release. The game is close to being finished.

https://www.gamespot.com/articles/assassins-creed-valhalla-will-have-almost-no-side-/1100-6479614/

"Speaking to GameSpot just before Ubisoft Forward, narrative director Darby McDevitt explained that “world events” are included in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, but the traditional side quest is “almost nonexistent.” There are longer story arcs to complete as part of the main questline, but extra activities you complete will happen more spontaneously and won’t necessarily be quests you have to seek out.

This approach was chosen to fit the narrative, as the protagonist Eivor arrives in England as an invader rather than a native. Having quest-givers left and right would not make sense, as you’re still actively trying to make alliances."

This may not be anything interesting in reality, but the concept from how they described it sounds pretty cool and an interesting twist on side quests. Could make exploration that bit more rewarding.

As far as the questionable aesthetic aspects: Maybe they just decided to devote less processing power to visuals, and more to the gameplay and its underlying systems in order to create a more emerg--PFFFFT🤣HAAAAHAHA🤣...Sorry, I can't--I just can't do it...

I hate to say it, but what determines whether many people will be playing Cyberpunk 2077 or Valhalla in mid-November will probably be whichever game releases in a more playable, less aggravating state. I do trust CDPR to actually get on top of things if it comes to that, but nevertheless...

So you can switch genders at anytime during the game. That's kinda dumb imo.

Either go with a Male protagonist or Female protagonist.

People be like that.

That was probably the most brilliant marketing decision that I have ever seen in a video game. People adore Keanu and CDPR knows it.

Oh, no doubt. Maybe I'm projecting my own sensibilities onto other people, but I meant that if two games release at basically the same time, if one is particularly buggy, which unfortunately is more likely than usual considering the current scenario, that a person would put it down and temporarily go to something else while it's being worked on more. Even if one of them is Cyberpunk 2077, lol.

But if I'm really, really looking forward to a game, I would never want to play it in a compromised manner. To me it's just obvious that it's better to play a game a few weeks or months later than to have my experience marred by problems.

E.g. I'm so glad I played The Witcher: EE instead of the original release. Originally the loading times were so egregiously long for every door, for every single little shack--both in and out--that it would actually have affected the way I played the game. And it did affect the way I played the demo.

Wait, what?

That is extremely dumb. At least Kassandra and Alexios both existed as separate characters. But if they let you switch genders mid-game, that basically means that there is no real main character. It's just an avatar. For an Assassin's Creed game that's unacceptable to me. It's like they're afraid to commit to one thing because they want to appeal to everyone. Well, that doesn't appeal to me. I want a video game with a clear vision and focus. This is the exact opposite.

This just got way too graphical. I can see people opting for Cyberpunk 2077 now. In terms of marketing the creators of Cyberpunk have left no stone unturned. People love Keanu and there's nothing better to expect than that.

I for one would like to switch character genders mid-game of earlier. Playing as avatars is not a bad idea at all. This isn't Assassin's Creed at this now. I liked the game until it had everything to do with protagonists in hoods and robes but this is just something else. It's about time they put an end to this series. Prince of Persia seemed more promising atleast.

I have no problem with this new direction but at this point it is dividing fans and no longer feels like Assassin's creed anymore I do miss the style of the old games. Just create a new IP and use this new direction for that instead of just slapping Assassin's creed on the title to sell a couple more copies.

I’m a die hard AC fan.  I didn’t finish Odyssey.  I just couldn’t get into it.  At least Origins had a decent story and great protagonist.  I just wish they’d go back to an AC3 model.

The old formula almost killed the franchise. Everyone and their grandma was saying Ubisoft need to shake things up. So they did with Origins and Odyssey by revamping combat, adding actual quests and making them RPGs.  The response has been overwhelmingly positive and both games are top sellers in the series. There's no way they're going back to what they did.

a few weeks ago i finally finished ac odyssey (great game)

now i started to play ac origins for the first time .. and what do i see? its literally exactly the same "story" odyssey has .. buhuu, big family drama, chasing some dudes with masks

if valhalla turns out to be sth like "family drama + dudes with masks / cult" i wont buy it

Smart of them to be honest. The game being a day 1 launch title on next-gen will tempt a fair few people come console launch wanting a fancy new game to show off their new purchase.

Still having mixed reactions about this game. As a long-time Ass Creed fan, I'm excited for the release of Valhalla, but I'm a huge sucker for games that have immense lore, and if the story plays out too similarly with Origins / Odyssey, I might lose the appeal of this whole series in general.

I like how it's the third game in a row that barely has sh*t to do with the Assassins and Templars. Just what I always thought an Assassin's Creed game should aspire to, lol.

What? Everything I’ve seen and heard points to the assassins and Templars having a pretty hefty role in the game
