Hey forum 👋 , I was wondering if you guys could help me out with some pvp related stuff. Like what are the key dos and donts for pvp against another player? What are the essentials when doing a 1v1?
key questions 🔑

is the orbital cannon a good source for a free kill if you have the cash? Are there any tricks or things to be aware of when using it?

ballistic armor , is it worth using? Can it survive missiles from an rpg, tank and oppresser? Any general advice or tricks while using it?

Oppresser, can it lock on to people? What are the best things ways to counter it? General advice for going against it?

tanks, which one is the best for offensive tactics? Which one for good defense? Can any tanks be upgraded? are there any vehicles that are recommended that surpass the tank(ground vehicle)

best offensive air vehicle, why?

Guns, are they worth upgrading with explosive rounds? Any general advice for this?

general exploits or tricks that can be used ?

I appreciate any responses , thanks .

I don't mean to be rude but I can't tell if this is a genuine thread or an attempt at a troll thread to incite an argument.

Just a bit of harmless forum ribbing, but unfortunately the kind of things your asking have popped up aplenty and things soon spiral, lol. We PvE folk can be a spicy bunch, but don't worry about it.

If anything, it can help with your goals too. To get used to the spice that'll surely come. 🤣🤣

I just wanna know the best try hard tactics if I get into a pissing match with a try hard . It would be nice to defend my squad from a greifer or two incase they’re doing missions in a public session. My . . . Bad. . ? Lol 🤷‍♂️ I wasn’t aware that pvp was such a sensitive topic unless it was the free aim vs auto aim debate .

Best way is to just get stuck in and learn your limits to be fair.

PvP isn't frowned upon IMO, not when it's done right. GTA:O freemode just has lost a lot of respect from some is all. Peace out. :)

Ok, I guess you're being sincere, so I'll bite.

The Orbital Cannon is lame, better save your money instead.

1 hour ago, Yozora said:

Ballistic Armor is pretty useless, you can't use it on anything except regular Freeroam, any attempt to join any Freemode Event and it will be unequipped. Afaik, it can tank two direct RPGs and you can still use BST while wearing it.

1 hour ago, Yozora said:

Oppresser, can it lock on to people? What are the best things ways to counter it? General advice for going against it?

They can only lock on other players if they're inside a vehicle (with a few exceptions), the only time you can lock on people on foot is if they're NPCs. The best way to counter one would be to either get on foot and autoaim it or just use your own Oppresor Mk II with Chaff.

1 hour ago, Yozora said:

Khanjali would be the best tank available, the APC needs a copilot to control the turret and the Rhino is rubbish. Yes it can be upgraded at a Facility. Tanks are quite OP against players on foot, but they get quickly dispatched by flying vehicles like Oppressors, jets or even Buzzards.

1 hour ago, Yozora said:

Either a Lazer or an Oppressor Mk II, I guess. Pyros and Starlings are deadly in the right hands, but they're harder to use.

Kinda, both the Pump Shotgun Mk II and the Heavy Sniper Mk II can be upgraded with Explosive Rounds, which are powerful against both players and vehicles, but they're quite limited in how much you can carry of them, also they requiere Bunker Research beforehand.

Not a fan of playing dirty, so I can't help with that.

DONT ENGAGE WITH COMBAT!! It'll only lead to the most cringe worthly playstyle youll ever witness. People like that take their kds to heart. I mean i use my kd to range how well i handle others but THESE people act like it's the sole purpose of playing.

Bottom line is that you should just ignore them cause once you come close to killing them it's "EASY WAY OUT" or sticky suicide. The competitive shooters use only like 2 guns and rpg the sh*t outta you. So. . . unless you wanna deal with that bs then just go the other way.

Or fn kill them when they least expect it for the most satisfying kill EVER. I usuay do that right off the bat bc they're easy to spot.

Basically way I view it is ARs and snipers (excluding marksman) only. Shotguns (pump no auto shotguns) and pistols are fine too.
LMGs, miniguns, any explosive weapon (exclusions apply to getting scrubs out of armored vehicles) are cheap and take no skill. Weaponized vehicles are for those who can't aim either.

1% playstyle is tough for most in GTA but it is the most rewarding. The whole MC community used to use the 1% playstyle but on PC the community is basically dead and on Xbox One as I was leaving nobody adhered to the playstyle anymore.

Best way to play GTAO if you take pvp somewhat seriously in this game

the weapon clause for the crew I'm currently in.
The whole tryhards thing is only for the kids with the BP helmets and EWO after getting shot once while they're on BST

Kill yourself as often as you can. That's a win to these people for some reason.

My advice? Play a PvP game.

Roll, headshot, roll, headshot, roll, headshot.

This is number 1. It's a simple concept, but it's way harder to master than you would think. Takes a sh*tload of practice, but you have to be able to put your crosshair/dot right on a persons head as soon as your roll is complete. When dealing with someone who is good, it comes down to a game of milliseconds. You're also going to want your aiming sensitivity to be as high as it can go, because seriously, it all boils down to who is fastest.

Wear the bulletproof helmet too. People like to laugh at this and blah blah blah, but the thing will save your life. There's no question about it, wear it. Find a glitch that lets you put a mask on underneath it, because otherwise you'll like someone who rides the shortbus.

Then comes guns. There's really only 3 guns in this game. Heavy Sniper, Combat MG, and Carbine Rifle, all MKII. If they aren't MKII, get them MKII. I suppose if the Marksman Sniper is more your thing, go with it, but I prefer the Heavy. 99.9% of the time, the Combat MG will do everything you need a gun to do. It has the longest range of all guns that can lock on, and can even go way past lock on range. Use this to your advantage. Most people are dumb and will come at you with an AR, but you can lock on to them 50 feet before they can lock on to you, or you can go ahead and start blasting them 200 feet away while using free aim with the MG. The MG also deals probably 30% more damage than an AR.

But the Combat MG has a drawback, it's accuracy. And I can't prove it, but it may have a lower raise time than an AR. If you're dealing with someone who is good then the MG might not be the best course of action to take. You'll wanna switch to the Carbine Rifle. It's far more accurate than the MG, and the person with the Carbine Rifle will headshot the person with the MG almost every time. But, unless you're dealing with someone who knows what they're doing, you won't have to worry about this too much. Like I said, 99.9% of the time, the Combat MG does the job.

Just practice, practice, practice, practice. Go into Death Matches/King of the Hill, and just play. It will take awhile, and tons of trial and error, but you can learn how to properly defend yourself, or maybe even learn how to play on the offensive side. I've been doing this since the game came out, and I'm still learning to this day. I'm pretty good at this, but even I can still come across someone who will beat my ass into submission. So if you lose, don't let it hurt you, accept it and learn from it.

Oh, and 95% of the people who play this game are complete and utter garbage. Always remember this. Taking advantage against people in this game is incredibly easy if you know what you're doing. Fear no one other than someone who looks like they need to be feared. You'll rarely come across someone who is actually as good as they seem.

EDIT

Lol, guess I'm the only one who took this seriously.

That's another thing OP, fighting is frowned upon in this game. It's a taboo way of life tHaT TaKeS No SkIlL BeCaUsE pVp SuCkS.

EDIT2

Oh, yeah, don't rely on vehicles to fight with. They're all f*cking junk. Boots on the ground is the only reliable way of doing this really. You may feel safe in a tank, but you probably aren't. And planes? Lol. Don't waste the money.

Lol 🤷‍♂️ I wasn’t aware that pvp was such a sensitive topic unless it was the free aim vs auto aim debate .

So, you want to fight a tryhard. Well well.

First piece of advice, dont do any of the stuff you listed.

All of this will just make them constantly ewo in a loop. Thats fine if you want a good laught and stop them from shooting at you but it wont help you fight them.

Also, using sh*t like the OC or exploits will just make you as much of a twat as they are.

If you want to fight them I suggest you show yourself as weak as you possibly can. Make them think you are easy prey. These twats are desperate to kill you but most of them A. are not very bright and B. couldnt hit the broadside of a barn if their life depended on it.

Kill them with their own stupidity. Many of them have a mk2 glued to their butt so entering a tunnel and attatching a mine to the roof will make short work of them.

Second piece of advice, learn to snipe.

And I dont mean that sniperdancing bulletspam bullsh*t. Accurate shots. Two shots one kill. Find a suitable position, use objects as cover to hide most of your body.

And for the love of god, DO NOT USE explosive bullets to snipe.

Most of these tryhard scrubs use them because "Big Boom Boom" and "cuz explosive is betta". Newsflash they are not.

They limlit your ammo count in the gun, they shorten your supply but they still take two shots to kill a human.

Best way to defeat a explo sniping tryhard, is to wait until they run out of ammo. When they do they either get their marksman rifle or laserminigun.

Thats the cue for you to get some distance and pop their heads with you heavy sniper mk2.

Advice number 3, carry an assault shotgun and a minigun aswell as an otional grenade launcher.

Some of them might grow a braincell or two and come at you with a kuruma or a nightshark.

The kuruma may be bulletproof but its not assault shotgun proof. They cant wrap their head around how you just shot them out their bulletproof car.

The minigun is there in case they got a nightshark since it has enough firerate to get a few lucky hits through the slits of the windowplating. It also helps with attacking mk2s.

Advice 4

Carry grenades. In case they somehow got close to you and are waiting around the corner. Throw a nade to their feet and run. They are so focused on killing you that they would not notice an entire platoon of grenades.

Thats pretty much all their is to it.

TLDR: If you want to fight a tryhard, do not fight like a tryhard.

Orbital Cannon is only useful on a group or if you just have money to spend but otherwise it's a waste

Ballistic armor is trash if you have CEO BST and Know how to snipe and shoot RPGs

Oppressor MKII can't lock onto people but it's recommended because 9/10 tryhards use it exclusively. The Ruiner 2000 Fully Loaded can counter it and the Deluxo Rockets can too. You can also shoot it out the sky with the Lazer if you have good aim.

Tanks are trash and a waste of money, also the Oppressor MKII can destroy them easily

Best air vehicle is the Lazer, no other jet in the game can beat it

Upgrade the guns listed in the post above this to MKII and get the Explosive heavy sniper and shotgun

The shotgun range is trash so it's best to use if you you're ghost or are hiding in a corner

Close range: Shotgun MKII explosive, Auto shotgun + atomizer to shoot them off the ground

Far range: Combat MG MKII+ AR MKII and RPG if they use it first

Sniper: MKII explosive + Marksman MKII and BST or  BP Helmet

For exploits if you play with a group, ghost hop by joining eachother CEOs if you're playing against another group/crew of tryhards.

Use the up n atomizer to get someone out of a corner then shoot them

Change your aim and sensitivity settings for first person

Don't stand in one spot one sniping move back and forth and always use first person when sniping for a faster response time

If you want to actually have a chance against good tryhards you have to play like one and use their tactics against them

The Starling, Pyro and Strikeforce easily outturn the Lazer, lol.

The Lazer's only chance is during the merge or sneak up off radar.

I find the B11 easy to beat if I stall hard and often, but most likely a pilot of equal skill will be a problem. It's rare to find a good starling or pyro pilot but they are out there. I been flying the starling lately again myself.

OP, practice is my best advice. I highly recommend the Lazer but it still will take a lot of practice. I highly recommend doing deathmatches on foot and in jets, turn off voice chat and just have fun.

Oh yea forgot to mention if you're taking pvp seriously in this game then you have to play free aim. If you're really wanting a challenge yourself against other players it's not going to be in auto aim.

Agree to disagree. Been a day one player and the main thing that has kept me going is PvP. I've been in 12+ hour wars and it's incredibly fun.

The issue with your "no fun" post is because A) you listed auto aim B) for Free Aim you listed the two types of weapons that take 0 skill C) the mk2 broomstick and night shark also being vehicles that don't take much thought to use.

i play free aim as well. the issue is unless you find some hidden gem deathmatch that someone forced pickups on, most randoms explosive and chaingun spam. And unless you like feeding kills to a mk2 pilot, the only reliable way to defend yourself is to fly a mk2 yourself or get in a heavily armored car.

I'm a day 1 player as well, and while i used to enjoy pvp around the 2014-2016 era, it's just not the same anymore

Agreed that pvp just isn't the same, but as of recently most randoms that I've engaged have used snipers or assault rifles. So I'm not sure if there is a trend going on or not.

About the mk2 thing, I always drive around on my motorcycles or in a unarmored car and if a mk2 attacks me, I get mine out to kill him off of his. I then get off of my mk2 and I spank him on the ground until he is passive or leaves.

I often find once you get people out of their armored or cheap vehicles they are absolute utter trash at any pvp

100 percent correct about that. The most fun i've had in pvp was that era after they added box and drum magazines, but before mk. 2 weapons. Back when your biggest issue was a jet the size of a whale or an armored car you'd have to spend 10k on to blow up
