RisingCobra
Since it's been "remastered" for the Xbox One X, do you think that we will have a chance to get it on pc?
El Penguin Bobo
That ship has sailed a long time ago. Idk if you knew, but I think they tried to port it to PC before, but the coding was all over the place and they couldn't do it. The game was lucky to run on consoles. El Penguin Bobo
There's probably some cheap Xbox 360's you can buy and you can play RDR1 from there. RisingCobra

Yeah i know but never really bothered with it, and the thing is that i had a 360 before but never played RDR 1 on it
Badman_
There's an old rumor that RDR1 code is a big mess (spaghetti code), and this is the main reason why there was never a PC port or a PS4 remaster. R* never mentioned it though.
happygrowls
Rockstar could port it using RDR2's RAGE engine, seeing as WE/New Austin are there, and the structure of Mexico is there.
muh linucs
As a RDR2 PC pre-order exclusive was perhaps the last real chance. RisingCobra
RisingCobra
Let's just hope it will someday maybe, think about it, it's the only game from rockstar who's never been released on pc

Acetaminophen
At this point if you really want to play it on PC I would find other means for doing so than waiting for R* to release it. RisingCobra
Badman_
You can play the game through PS Now (streaming) if your country supports. And you can obviously appeal to illegal downloads and play the game through RPCS3 or Xenia lol. But I'm warning that you will need a very powerful machine. kubon352
Look Rockstar, you sh*ts - 2K is making remake of Mafia on completely new engine. It IS possible! Don't you want our muneh? TableTennisChamp

kubon352
I guess it's cheaper to buy old X360 than a PC which can handle emulation smoothly enough.
Ash_735
Emulation has been making great progress on the 7th Generation consoles, RDR1 is already playable* and can even run at 60fps in some minor areas. *depending on your PC specs
kubon352
I paid ~700 dollar for my current PC 2 years ago, recently tried to emulate the game. My computer got shut down due to heavy use. I'd have to spend probably another 300 bucks to make it run good and still I'm not so sure if that would be enough. And for 80$ I can get used console. KGBeast
It could happen one day but they'd have to completely rebuild the game on a new iteration of RAGE. The specific problem with the game's code is that during development there were several iterations of RAGE, and they built different parts of the game on different builds of the engine, then had to slap on some band aid fixes to force compatibility between them. The result is a functional but buggy mess, as anyone who has played the game enough knows. Pretty much impossible to fix or port, so they'd have to do a real remake rather than just a remaster. I wouldn't say it's out of the realm of possibility given the success and relevance of the series. Stranger things have happened, LA Noire got a remake after all. TableTennisChamp
I think it's entirely possible of course. Yeah the code is a mess and it's been a long time. But Take 2 has mafia being remade and re-released. So it's not beyond the realm of possibility for a popular game like red dead to be remade but honestly I'd rather have a remaster just enchanced like gta v was when it came to PC. Same game just enhanced. Complete with mutliplayer only with an added player count. Undead nightmare should come with it too. I'm sure if there was a demand then it could be delivered. I'm just a hopeful person. Edited May 22, 2020 by AddamHusayin RisingCobra

Also there's probably some money to make in the PC market, I don't know how many $ RDR2 made but I'd say that many that bought the 2nd would buy the 1st TableTennisChamp

Gummy
It's playable from start to finish in the Xenia emulator. I used a Ryzen 5 2600 + RTX 2060 and I got 25-30ish framerate on open areas while in towns, it drops down to around 15 fps, around 20ish fps in Tall Trees and places with a lot of enemies like Fort Mercer and Torquemada. Aiming was painful. If you got a better rig than I do, it'll probably run better. JusT_Rampage

Mister Pink
If it's getting a remaster and it's going to run on the same engine as RDR2, then yes. I wouldn't be surprised if this leaker is telling the truth about a remaster and it will get a release on PC, PS5 and XSX. Could be wrong but it seems like the right thing to do. kubon352, Bakamomo and Gummy 3 RUBBΣR░J♢HNNY (スオッ)
kubon352
I just don't understand, why current gen would be skipped. That's whole lot of muneh to earn. And I don't think XONE and PS4 could not handle it.

cp1dell
We're getting the fourth release of GTA V, but we still can't get a re-release, remaster, or PC port of RDR1. Bravo Rockstar.
