I opened a txd file using txd workshop and renamed a texture(i wanted to use that feature)then when i spawned the gun in game the gun was having no textures it was having all the textures which i didn't edit i.e. Gun flash and its icon! Then i opened it's dff file using dff viewer and it said: error texture "dff47" (name of the texture i edited) not found.

Now my question is that how to change the texture reference name inside dff file to make it support my edited name...🐶

First of all, use magic.txd and not txdworkshop.
Second, you have 2 options for changing the name inside the dff. Either import it in 3ds max, change the material name and export, or open the dff with a hex editor and replace every old texture name reference with your new name.

@guard3 hex editing screws up the .dff structure, making it unable to load in game.

@guard3 which editor did you use? I'll give it a try.

i got how to edit references via hex editor i use HxD Hex editor for it and there is a rule to be followed while u edit texture reference via hex editor first u open the dff file with hxd hex editor and the rule is that edited name's characters should be equal to the characters of the texture's name before edit

For example if there is a texture named "hltex000" u can only use new names which have 8 characters on it(as "hltex000" have 8 characters)that can be a number or a letter just keep in mind u need 8 characters so the new names i can use are "guntex90" , "gunskin9"(8 characters in both names).......

And the second rule is that never use "save" feature in hxd hex editor always use "save as" feature and never save in the same location always "save as" in different locations(because u want avoid the creation of.bak file).....

And after editing dff file change the reference in txd file via hex edit(not any txd tool)and again "save as" in different location...

Follow these rules to avoid messing up with .dff's size..

Is there a good DFF Editor program or viewer other than majestic's?

Dunno about viewers, but for editing either 3ds max or blender, with the appropriate plugins. There’s also zmodeler but I think it’s sh*t.
