What’s your fondest memory of any GTA game?

Recommended Posts

Joyrider02

It can be directly related to the game itself (missions, soundtrack, free roaming etc.) or something that happened while you were playing (being caught playing when you weren’t allowed to, staying up past your bedtime to play, etc).

The first few hours of playing GTA IV. I still remember just walking around being gobsmacked by all the detail that R* put into the city and looking over at Algonquin thinking how much I couldn't wait to get over there.

I also have fond memories in Vice City pulling up on the beach during a sunrise/sunset chilling out listening to songs on Emotion 98.3.

Spending the summer back in 2005 with my little brother playing Vice City with him completing it before me. The most recent was working from home during the Corona lockdown here in Chengdu passively grinding the bunker buying supplies and doing sell missions in-between online classes. Don't really have time to play a lot of GTAO so really kept sane during a very boring time and made a lot of f*ck money.

Just driving around vice city and listening to flash fm. Especially listening to laura brannigan-self control in a blue infernus on washington blvd brings back so many memories.

Oh man, I have a lot. Mostly those times when I first start a GTA game or any Rockstar game in general.

I remember staying up ALL NIGHT waiting for IV to install on my computer, and playing it all night as well. Good times.

I also remember immediately getting up early in the morning to go get GTA V in the mail. I was that excited.

San Andreas. There was a sort of magic to playing it all day during the summer. And then of course SAMP. Vice City was also amazing when I heard the soundtrack and got to the feel.

I remember my mom always complained about Vice City, she always told me " Why do you keep killing people?" "Play something else" "Don't play that game!"

In 27 years of playing video games, one of the fondest memories in general has to be seeing GTA III for the first time on Playstation 2 when it came out. Mind blowing experience. To this very day, it's only barely matched by experiencing handful of some other classics.

Playing GTA VC for the first time at my friends house back when I was 12.I did play GTA 2 for around half an hour at the age of 10,but playing VC for the first time stayed in my memory better.

Playing San Andreas around the time it came out at a friend's house. I knew I had to own it, it felt leagues above III and VC. It was the first GTA that I actually set out to beat all the missions, mainly because I wanted the entire map open. LS felt huge itself, so the idea that there was even more out there was so neat and intriguing to me. I can't even being to count the amount of hours spent on that game through the years.

I'll tell you now dude the first time I played GTA III will forever be etched into my memory. The moment I realised the series stepped into 3D is something I'll never forget. 8 Ball's "I know a place on the edge of the Red Light District where we can lay low, but my hands are all messed up so you better drive brother" is a thing of legend.

I still remember the first time I beat a ped to death with a baseball bat lol. I agree that very few games have come close to experiencing GTA III for the first time. I didn't get to play it in 2001 because it was temporarily banned over here, but I got to play it in early 2002  It's one of those things you had to experience at the time to really understand its significance IMO.

Stealing a Banshee from the Easy Credit Autos in GTA III for the first time felt like a dream come true. All other cars were so slow in Portland, that thing was a beast.

I remember being amazed in Vice City how sports cars spawned everywhere in the first island, it seems pretty trivial now but it was such a nice contrast to GTA III.

GTA III.

Used to climb some garage next to the bridge and shoot the sh*t out of everybody with the rocket launcher.

"I know a place at the edge of the red light district where we can lay low. But my hands are all messed up. So you better drive, brother"

Jumping in the Kuruma to hear "HEEEAADDD RADIO", and speeding off into the distance with sirens wailing.

i would say all the great memories playing gta 4 and gta online multiplayer. i remember when i first started playing multiplayer. until then i had just been playing gta 4 in singleplayer. then i saw some videos of multiplayer and it just amazed me how fun it looked. so i was even more amazed when i started playing it. i met some cool friends and had loads of fun with them. i cant even imagine how many hours i spent at the airport alone in mp. i even remember when i saw modders for the first time. it was a crazy experience. then gta online came and of course i had some more great memories. i helped some people make some gta online movies. had a lot of fun in stunt races. or adversary modes. i also love being in car shows. this is just a snippet of all the amazing stuff i have experienced playing this series.

Beautifully put! In relation to your bottom line conclusion, I remember seeing GTA III pictures in some random computer/video game magazine just a few months before it hit release. It looked so good, it almost seemed unreal. As if someone would show me a flying saucer today. Complete revelation. My friend and I simply couldn't believe what we were looking at and we were both like; " if it turns out to be even half as good as it was in the pictures, we are happy dudes then. " Turns out it was even better. One of those great things, perfect by themselves, yet you find even some additional goodies.

I played GTA SA and GTA V on launch day and the feeling is still unmatched. Setting the game up, watching the intro and exploring those two games in the first couple of days always was amazing.

Putting all of the MP3s I "acquired" from BearShare/LimeWire in my GTA3 MP3 folder.

Cruisin down the highway in my '64... or maybe it was a Stallion. 2002 man, what a time.

For me it was definitely playing IV but this one part in particular, the intro. I was literally in awe when it came out but the intro really stood out to me, the boat, the floating letters, the score i don't know it was just so cool to me.

When I reached that point in both IV and San Andreas where I was familar enough with the map and mechanics for it to feel like second nature, but still had plenty to do and explore, I love that feeling in games, where you know the game but there's still so much for it to offer. For me this is usually during my second playthrough.

My first Gta was San Andreas, I remember buying it along with Vice City and VCS for the PS2 in Gamestop, back in the final days of the PS2 era, got them all for about €10 in the bargain bin, no cases just plastic sheets. VCS was good but it never really clicked with me, VC was scratched so I couldn't play it, but San Andreas... Well I spent the summer playing San Andreas. It got me hooked on Gta, so I have fond memories of San Andreas.

There are so many memories with VCS because it's my first GTA game. But the fondest is playing the multiplayer with my friends on Saturdays when we're pupils. We're always finding a different way to kill each other, sometimes even found funny glitches. We laughed a lot. Good times.

Roaming the desert in San Andreas for the first time.

Vice City/Stories atmosphere, it still magical for me to this day, it doesn't matter how many times i play them it never gets old, i think R* did a stellar job with them, from the npc's look to the music.

Playing IV for the first time, my god the detail, the physics the realism, it was unreal to me.

I can name many, but entering San Fierro with The Truth was something else. It was such a grand and perfect moment. I spent days not playing any more missions, just exploring the city.

I haven't experienced that in any other game, honestly. A different city with a completely different vibe was not what I expected from a game back then, and I instantly fell in love with SF's weather - the frequent rain and the almost constant fog.
