Motorik
I know that there's a topic dedicated to things we didn't know about GTA III, but is practically dead, so I decided to create a new one, more centered in the attention to detail that this game has. Not bugs, but things intentionally programmed. I have two. One is that, on the door of Uncle BJ's. there's a sign that says "#1 Employee: Bob", and the picture of a ped with red cap. Strangely, this sign can't be seen in the cutscene of the mission "Shima" that takes place there. Another little known fact is that, inside the big ship of Portland (not the one that you have to blow up in Bomb da Base, but the other one) are some boats. I watched this in this video (minute ten): Now it's your turn. What hidden details do you know about this game? Lioshenka
I've been playing GTA 3 a lot recently, and the attention to details is amazing. I'd say it's on par and even exceeding SA sometimes. I was always fascinating by the puddles in the middle of Stanton island. Simple, yet so effective. GEETEEAYEE
Motorik
Another thing I discovered recently is that, if you walk or run against old pedestrians, they will fall down. I know it thanks to GTA Wiki.
uncredited
I had to go on a roof to pick up a hidden package near Joey’s garage and I could hear sounds coming from inside the building, some kind of drilling sounds. That was a nice touch. Edited April 24, 2020 by uncredited

I don't understand why this wasn't used in the follow up games, the factory sound is a very nice touch indeed. Claude also shows a middle finger to people, and some people have music in their headphones. There is steam coming up from the manholes.

I can remember some of these details being used in IV, especially the music coming from people's cars. It is a shame that they didn't use that in the ensuing games as you said — it is a step back. Yes, this is an awesome touch. If you drive out to the Hepburn Heights Apartments you'll hear some house music on a continuous loop too.
Evil empire
It's alway funny to learn about this kind of anecdotes. By the way I already knew about the inverted Torrington building thanks to my Fast unsinking Liberty cars mod when I fall in the blue hell. This is a great mod. I used to use a function similar to this in the old GTA3 Ultimate Trainer by LithJoe. SHIFT+1 was the hot key if memory serves. Shame Portland was the only island with these really lively details tho Earthbound and Lioshenka
