My friend can't join or invite me

am on rockstar launcher and my friend on steam she is level 7 and can't invite or join me and we tried everything like finding new session , restarting the game and it doesn't work at all any help would be appreicated

Yeah Rockstar Games really need to sort out these issues. I hear these complaints daily. 

 

The launcher presents another problem - if you have more than one copy of the game - for example a Steam and a Social Club account - you can't "log out" of the Steam version so that instead of the launcher saying "Play on Steam" it just says "Play". 

It's a mess. 

 

Can you try doing something for me - to test if it's the same for you as it is for me...
1) Have one of you in the game and in an online session. 

2) Second person loads up the game. 
3) As soon as it shows "<PlayerName> is Online" in the top-right corner of the game for the first person - who's waiting in an online session - have them press the Home key, find the other player's name in the list, and see if "Invite to game" is an option. 

Ideally, they would press the Home key whilst the notification that someone's come online is overlayed. 

 

If that works - do another test for me. This time, it's exactly the same, but instead of the player sending an invite out as soon as the other player pops online, wait a few minutes - and see if you can send an invitation then. I would bet money you're not able to. 

 

It's such a mess. Rockstar's (new) Launcher is nice, but it's a "one stop forward, two steps back" affair if the player-to-player matchmaking is affected, in addition to it causing all sorts of other technical issues with error codes.
