Bashing YouTubers and making the topic about it (or any other kind of antagonism) will net you a warning for derailing the topic.

Please use some common sense too while discussing subjects, don't delve too deep into speculating about people's personal lives (e.g. Houser departure from R*, Rockstar developers, etc.) as they deserve privacy and not a raging fan forum to make up things about them. Needless to say, any hate will be quickly nipped in the bud.

Dee is the real Judas.

About a while back, @Dee had Judas in his profile but changed back quickly. Also look at his rank, 💋 Gonnae. Weird huh?

Ever since 2018, Dee apologized and felt really bad because he ultimately gave up on gonnae. Fits what happened here. Dee ultimately said that he is a fake and that we shouldn't trust him. Ultimately, this started. Gonnae gave us a default red herring which was Ipelushie and then was a step ahead of us and tried making it look like it was really Yan. But, it wasn't. It was Dee. Look at his post history. He was an apostle like us, but ultimately turned into the concept of Judas and once again, for the last time, decided to believe Gonnae once and for all.

People you gotta remember whether you believe or not...

R* had said clearly 3 weeks prior to the announcement of GTA V that it was barely even developed and was just in the process of brainstorming, and then boom! 3 weeks later an announcement with a well made trailer.

We're in a darker timeline now tho 🤭

The logic is sound, but the reality is very, very different. It makes sense to think if you work people harder you'll get more done and make a better game. But if you treat your employees terrible, they'll half ass their work and not be very productive. I certainly wouldn't be very productive if my overlords were treating me like sh*t.

They may work less, which theoretically means less content. But... who knows.

The thing with Crunch is, it doesn't come down to the Managers treating their employees like sh*t(that is how Crunch at Activision or EA happened), it comes down to people being in a cool-aid culture, working themselves to the teeth, because they truly want to build a great game. A company that embraces that type of culture, will ultimately be succesfull, and develop quality products, a company that doesn't, will probably not release quality products, though remain succesfull, which is my current future outlook for R*, a rather unfortunate one that is.

Ehhh that’s a slippery slope there tbh. That doesn’t really equate to a better game. I feel crunch is a necessary evil in this industry if developers are aiming to push the envelope and go above and beyond. You can’t really get that with a more relaxed and laid back  workplace.

I’m gonna get a lot of flack for this I know but hard work really does pay off. They weren’t lazing about drinking martinis in the sunshine when sculpting Mount Rushmore or building the Empire State Building. The more work you put in, the more ambitious the outcome of a product will be

Hate to break it to you, but those 7 years aren’t gonna be used just to make a big map just for the sake of having a big map. I prefer more intricate map design than having a pissing contest with other game developers for who can make the biggest map

Depends on how you look at it.

The Pyramids of Gizeh were built by an army of slaves.

Now, would I be considered immoral for arguing that R*s quality games might only be achieveable by modern slavery? Yes.

Might that still be the case? Perhaps.

Time will tell, whether better working conditions equate to better product quality, personally, I highly doubt it, if we go by example:
Developers like Ubisoft employ exceptional working conditions, but sub par products.

I'd rather have no game at all if it requires the people creating it to work like sh*t, be treated like sh*t, and live like sh*t. If the devs having minimally acceptable working conditions for once means the game's quality takes a hit, so be it.

Devs can create good games with good working conditions, and that includes massive blockbusters like GTA. Sure, it won't be the same game like if they were wrung dry and chained to the desk, but there's nothing stopping it from being a good game..it's really easy to demand the devs work to bone in the race for the best work of art, but you're making this demand from a consumer-perspective where you don't give a sh*t about the people actually creating it in the first place; it's easy to make grand claims about doing it for the quality if all you have to do is slot like a day's worth of minimum wage into Rockstar's coffers to get it. From the perspective of the devs themselves, as has been made clear multiple times, they'd rather have the better working conditions - but they're still in it for their passion, because that's how the gaming industry works! They'll still be putting their heart and soul into it, just not being forced to spend quite as much time working quite as hard in terms of crunch.

The fact your responses to the devs having marginally better working conditions being to mope about "but muh game quality" is quite telling.

I don't want to be a buzzkill, but I highly doubt that they are going to put out that one of their new games will be announced soon. Especially on a popular social media platform like Instagram.

Do you think it matters how nice an office looks if you can't leave it for most of the day (and night!)? Spoiler alert: It doesn't.

Right, I’m sure crunch at a gaming or tech company is one of the most hardest and grueling conditions that a person can endure.

(I don’t endorse crunch and believe in work-life balance, but it’s not exactly “Roots: The Next Generation”. The mailman endures more stress.)

Did crunch work since 18 and im here.

People need to stop criyng about things they cant even comprehend.

They have a f*cking choice to begin it.

They have much better life conditions than most people here.

They for once probably are doing something they want, or once wanted.

Does Neil Druckmann, the VP at Naughty Dog, too?

Someone who worked years in the AAA gaming industry, producing the highest rated games on Playstation?

-Neil Druckmann, quoted from Jason Schreier’s Blood, Sweat, and Pixels

I can quote people too!

Quote

Schreier: Did you work long periods of overtime for games like Breath of the Wild?

Aonuma: Overall as a Nintendo work culture, we focus on flexibility. And so even the staff have that flexibility of when to focus, and use their energy on something, or they have a little bit of leeway in their work schedule, don’t have to exert themselves so much. They can maintain that balance themselves. Especially for Breath of the Wild, it was the same, and we focused on the staff. We didn’t have anybody be exerted or anything like that, and I think we were able to achieve our goal.

That's Eiji Aonuma, producer of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of The Wild

You know, that game with a higher Metacritic and user score than RDR2?

Why are you treating this Schreier dude like he's some sort of all-knowing being?

It's not like journalists were never wrong.

Also GTA 6 in early development?

Who would actually believe something like this?

there is no way gta 6 is in early development. Rockstar didn't just not do anything between rdr2 and now, and even before rdr2 they were probably writing the story and other base features of the game. This is the same thing with gta 5 being in early development but getting announced days later.

This has happened in the past with GTA V. Rockstar are not always truthful with Games currently in development. Telling Kotaku "Early Development" just buys Rockstar more time. The only time we get to know what really went on behind the scenes is after the game's release.

Jasons source are the devs themselves not the rockstar pr department.

Devs probably gave him some vague talk like

"Oh gta 6 is happening but its far away"

There is a reason the subforum was closed from the main public. What that reason is, I don't know. And also:
