Bashing YouTubers and making the topic about it (or any other kind of antagonism) will net you a warning for derailing the topic.

Please use some common sense too while discussing subjects, don't delve too deep into speculating about people's personal lives (e.g. Houser departure from R*, Rockstar developers, etc.) as they deserve privacy and not a raging fan forum to make up things about them. Needless to say, any hate will be quickly nipped in the bud.

"Early development" lmao yeah sure. He's lying. Don't try to tell me that we got Valve back just so we can lose Rockstar.

That’s the scary thing. Now we wait in suspense until Rockstar decides to f*cking talk about it

Early in development can mean a lot of things. Games can still be announced while they’re early in development.

the way I see it, they are nearing full development and they’ll announce the game once they reach that milestone just as they did for GTAV. My guess remains the same: Fall 2020 announcement with a 2022 release

I'll be pissed if the game is really small just like GTA IV. Seven years? Seven f*cking years? Really small GTA game? What is this? So disappointing. Better call it GTA -5

At this point if I were R* I’d remaster one of the GTA’s or add at least liberty city/vice city to online till the next GTA comes out.

Don't count on it. The amount of years of development for IV following San Andreas to release was about 3/4 years, assuming it started development a few months or so following GTA SA's release.  We should definitely expect the next game's map to huge, hopefully.

Well, if they do decide to go that route, and release a moderately sized SP and online at first, we all know which one will be prioritized. We might end up with a SP that’s only completed after 10 years.

You know damn well they ain't going to to do sh*t for SP.
Expect a 20/30 hour crime story for SP. They won't even do sp dlcs. I'm sure.
1 month of online profit = 1 big sp DLC

Why would they update SP when they can add huge new content in Online for whales? that's just simple math. They do what's best for their pockets.

Ehhh that’s a slippery slope there tbh. That doesn’t really equate to a better game. I feel crunch is a necessary evil in this industry if developers are aiming to push the envelope and go above and beyond. You can’t really get that with a more relaxed and laid back  workplace.

I’m gonna get a lot of flack for this I know but hard work really does pay off. They weren’t lazing about drinking martinis in the sunshine when sculpting Mount Rushmore or building the Empire State Building. The more work you put in, the more ambitious the outcome of a product will be

Hate to break it to you, but those 7 years aren’t gonna be used just to make a big map just for the sake of having a big map. I prefer more intricate map design than having a pissing contest with other game developers for who can make the biggest map

(OffTopic: i can comment now here, cool)

There was a similar article from a magazine?, which said that I was not going to see a new GTA for a while and then GTA V appeared? something like this

https://www.rockstargames.com/newswire/article/19081/asked-answered-max-payne-3-la-noire-red-dead-and-more.html

One of the last question

But from Kotaku or other source

Still seems strange for Rockstar to let those small bits of information be put out there. Don't think they've ever let anyone confirm the production of a GTA game before it's been officially announced by themselves.

Maybe it's possible they could be planning on making an announcement sooner than we think.

It is obviously better for devs however longer development also means we will only get one game in a console generation

Depends on how you look at it.

The Pyramids of Gizeh were built by an army of slaves.

Now, would I be considered immoral for arguing that R*s quality games might only be achieveable by modern slavery? Yes.

Might that still be the case? Perhaps.

Time will tell, whether better working conditions equate to better product quality, personally, I highly doubt it, if we go by example:
Developers like Ubisoft employ exceptional working conditions, but sub par products.

What's the question?

Whether Jason Schreier is a relyable source, for stating that GTA VI is still early in development.

Or whether he is into some type of cover up, initiated by Rockstar to fuel a surprise announcement.(Yeah no sh*t, that's what some people seem to be suggesting here).

I'm sure some guy mocked me a few weeks back when I said I wouldn't expect GTA6 until 2023 at the earliest. If it's only been in development for around 18 months, then it's years off.

Does anyone actually know when they started development of GTA VI?

My guess? Preproduction lasted from 2014-2016

Production began 2017 and post production will start sometime next year IF it’s to be released in 2022

Is Jason reliable?

Yes, he knows the industry, he knows people, he takes his job seriously and doesn't half ass it.

Is GTA VI in early development?

Surely not, there's just no way.

I know, was just trying to be a little optimistic. Years ago I felt like GTAO might have ruined the franchise. It was TOO successful. Like you said, there is literally no reason to do anything for SP over online.

But maybe RDR2’s story was R* making it up to us for leaving us with GTAV’s SP. People were complaining about it like a month and a half after it came out. They have to know how people feel about it. To

go from two dlc episodes in IV to completely abandoning SP since launch for 6 years now?
