GTA 6 Speculation & Discussion [Part 4]

Bashing YouTubers and making the topic about it (or any other kind of antagonism) will net you a warning for derailing the topic.

Please use some common sense too while discussing subjects, don't delve too deep into speculating about people's personal lives (e.g. Houser departure from R*, Rockstar developers, etc.) as they deserve privacy and not a raging fan forum to make up things about them. Needless to say, any hate will be quickly nipped in the bud.

source and that's hard to believe because they cant make a trailer look that good that quick

he's saying the CEO was lying about the game being in development, though it looks like Len Lfc has the real quote

I know i will sound like a child and really i am laughing as i type this but Jason Scheider or whatever his name is annoys me SO MUCH . Yeah he is just a messenger but for Gods sake he is always bringing the grimmest Gta news.

Literally everytime he posts anything Gta related i feel like his intention is to crush our fricking souls and torture our bodies to the point that we can't bloody move around anymore. Lmao

Finally some interesting news about R*!

Well, here's my take on this report.

- Could the change in the work culture have been one of the reasons for Dan's departure? Maybe he used to work in a certain way and to have more control over his subordinates. "One belief shared by Rockstar employees is that Dan Houser’s departure will lead to fewer last-minute rewrites and overhauls—the type that led to a great deal of overtime on Red Dead Redemption 2" tells me that, in a way, Dan was a perfectionist. However, it seems that employees did not like this approach, and I wonder if we'd get something of a less perfection next time from R*, at least in terms of the writing. I'd not say that writing and then rewriting would necessarily lead to a better writing overall, but just saying if Dan's departure means less perfectionism to avoid crunch in the future.

- The report basically confirmed that the next game is a new Grand Theft Auto entry (duh!), and this is not a speculation on Kotaku's part, bur rather a confirmation by the management at R*. The most interesting thing is that it mentions that the development is still in its early stages, which is a point that I, and others in this fine forum, have repeatedly said based on the available data, which many others dismissed and would probably keep dismissing based on wishful thinking. The other interesting point is that it's said that R* management is planning to have a moderately sized release at first and then to keep the updates flowing over time. I do not know how to feel about this other point and what 'moderately sized release' entails. Are the updates going to exclusively flow into the Online world? Are we going to see the Story mode evolving by, say, adding new maps in a modular approach (i.e. expanding the world, new stories and lore)? Hopefully we don't see a regression, or stagnation, in the technological ambitions moving forward, and as we are used to experience from R*. I'd also add that this decision, to have a moderately sized release, is probably also driven by T2's ambitions in having smaller gaps between releases. All of that remains to be seen.

Not to give anyone false hope. We did get a statement from Rockstar's CEO that GTA V was not in development like 11 days before the trailer lmao.

It's highly likely Strauss didnt even know it was it development, he's probably too busy snorting coke off a models arse on his super-yacht during conference calls to listen to whatever Sam's telling him

Calm down man, RDR was 15-20 hour long but amazing. We gotta wait to see what happens.

No matter how beautifully designed if GTA VI contain only Vice City, this game will be disappointing for me. Especially if we are going to wait at least two or three more years.

I want to see Las Venturas and San Fierro too.

Oh also I don't believe that project americas leak is legit at this point. (that Rio De Janeiro/Brazil/other countries leak and 80's drug story).

I believe kotaku leak is somewhat bs. Come on, early development ? now ? rockstar wouldn't be that slow but it's just me i guess

The thing that makes me believe it is the fact that Red Dead 2 only just came out in 2018 and that was a GTA level project.

I would love a 100 mission campaign in the next GTA as much as the next guy, but online focus isn't necessarily a bad thing (if they don't make the game out to be Saints Row at launch). Online is what made GTA V more re-playable than any other entry, imo. Maybe I'm just saying this because I'm only 18 and I'm used to the online era of gaming lol. If the campaign is less than 60 missions though, that's a problem. GTA V's story felt rushed enough with 69 main missions.

Online focus its not a bad thing when did the right way.

Rockstar NEVER shown a good online experience. Popular of course. But not good.

2020 and we still dont have dedicated servers for their online games. My f*cking god.

Economy only was fair the first 6 months of gta online. Now with 80 dollars you can by 2 cars.

Red dead online was been a sh*tshow for a year and a half. They dont know sh*t about "online focus".

The real problem i see here:

The ratio of people to the work shown by rockstar games is awful.

You have 2000 people working for a company and in 7 years you produce one game. The biggest and better game experience out there, one can argue, but still, its not that much. (for the amount of people)

The amount of content for their online games its no excuse.

The had more than enough people to make red dead, and to work on the lackluster online updates.

Still they always manage to f*ck something up.

It's still highly likely that the game is still early in development, especially after Dan's 2018 interview where he mentioned Rockstar had no idea what to do with the game and were happy to not be making GTA 6 at the time. My guess is like Agent, ideas must have been floated around here and there after GTA 5's release but since their primary focus was on RDR 2 at the time so they might have scrapped whatever ideas they had planned for the game.

I'm surprised we heard anything about 6 all things considered. I'll be honest, this has me a bit worried:

"One plan that management has laid out for the next game, a new entry in the Grand Theft Auto series, is to start out with a moderately sized release (which, by Rockstar’s standards, would still be a large game) that is then expanded with regular updates over time, which may help mitigate stress and crunch."

it makes me fear that single player will have less to do and online will take an even greater focus. Yeah, it makes sense considering Online brings in the money but I don't care about online, I'm a singleplayer only guy through and through.

I can't believe if they are planning for agent currently it's either gta or bully franchise other than that they would make a mistake

But what about all the website updates? Yan's soon tweet? Consejo's motion capture photos from 2014? I hate how even when we get kinda concrete information on GTA 6 there's still so many questions that can be asked.

None of that means anything until we get an announcement 🤷‍♂️ which is the sad reality for people who spend all day speculating about the game

Maybe they are doing this to reduce the hype around GTA 6, and they will announce it when nobody expects!

The next GTA being 'a ways away' isnt really a new revelation considering most people were predicting a 2022/23 release anyway.

Do you mean when he said: "We're not going to announce it. We're not going to announce when we're going to announce it. And we're not going to announce the strategy about announcing it or about when we're going to announce it either, or about the announcement strategy surrounding the announcement of the strategy. Any other questions?"

Just for the record, if that is what you meant. That was from September 2009
