Bashing YouTubers and making the topic about it (or any other kind of antagonism) will net you a warning for derailing the topic.

Please use some common sense too while discussing subjects, don't delve too deep into speculating about people's personal lives (e.g. Houser departure from R*, Rockstar developers, etc.) as they deserve privacy and not a raging fan forum to make up things about them. Needless to say, any hate will be quickly nipped in the bud.

Spider no offence man but stop giving us false hope. It's pretty clear that things are slowing down at Rockstar games. You know as well as i do that we are NOT going to get an announcement anytime soon. And i can bet you money on that.

What hope? I'm just saying, you're completely responsible for any "hope" my post gives you lmao.

With a lot more focus on online than story again. But at this point wishing anything different would be foolish

Just remember that "games as a service" can and does also mean single player too. It is not exclusive to multiplayer games.

I'm fine with this as long as I don't have to pay 99p to play every other mission in the story

Everyone expects games to get bigger and bigger and bigger, but each new generation means higher production values (assets) and higher production values require substantially more work.

Bigger games and higher production values do not mix well.

We'll have to see what unfolds with future Rockstar games but the idea of games being released in "medium" size states and being expanded post-release is not something that surprises me, especially in this day and age with the "games as a service" type stuff. Just remember that "games as a service" can and does also mean single player too. It is not exclusive to multiplayer games.

Exactly, this technique has existed for years already, people don't like it because the first release of the game doesn't really has that much content most of the times (won't put names lol) but knowing R*, they'll still put a lot of content and add new one on top of it

Here's a fun question: Will there be a battle royale in the next GTA?

I don't play Battle Royale's

But I'd play this!

Might be wrong, but I still think gta 6 has been in development for more than 3 years.

Jorje consejo posted a picture of him in a motion capture outfit in 2014 stating he couldn't tell what project he is working on

60 people started pre production in 2013 according to yan

and what else would Rockstar of been doing these last years? they have 3000 employees its not like they all work on gta online and rd online

One plan that management has laid out for the next game, a new entry in the Grand Theft Auto series, is to start out with a moderately sized release (which, by Rockstar’s standards, would still be a large game) that is then expanded with regular updates over time, which may help mitigate stress and crunch.

Of course at this point it's only a rumor, but it screams GTA Online 2, with single player being almost neglected. Some people warned you RDR2 SP doesn't mean anything in the context of next GTA, because it was well advanced in development before Rockstar struck gold with GTA Online updates circa 2016. It all adds up: Dan's departure, Zelnick's comments about shorter games, it was all there:

Quote

"It's possible that games may be a bit shorter than they were in certain instances," Zelnick says. "It's possible that the ability to deliver content on an ongoing basis for a long time after an initial release of a hit would mean that perhaps that initial release wouldn't be as long in terms of number of hours of gameplay as previously had been demanded in a world where that was all you were getting."

Be prepared for short SP and a lot of online content updates.

Well the forum has some kind of connection to Rockstar people and after letting the Preacher run free yeah of course i am going to get excited ! Anyway don't wanna sound like a broken record here 😂😂😂

I am starting to believe that they restarted the project at least once..

Look at the Know leak stating a 2021-2022 release. The resumes stating 2018. And Dan leaving...

This theory kinda makes sense doesn't it ? They probably scrapped the whole thing kicked Dan out and restarted the project ( chill boys it's a my theory dont state it as a fact)

What if GTA 6 has both Miami and Bermuda. Therefore, containing the Bermuda Triangle where the protagonist has a high chance of disappearing with the 'Wasted' popup

I would love a 100 mission campaign in the next GTA as much as the next guy, but online focus isn't necessarily a bad thing (if they don't make the game out to be Saints Row at launch). Online is what made GTA V more re-playable than any other entry, imo. Maybe I'm just saying this because I'm only 18 and I'm used to the online era of gaming lol. If the campaign is less than 60 missions though, that's a problem. GTA V's story felt rushed enough with 69 main missions.

Going by that article, if we're taking it all as gospel, GTA VI is their next game. It's then a reasonable assumption to assume that the game is in full production and has been since early 2019 (RDR2's release was followed by breaks for a lot of staff).

GTA V's announcement (I don't know how true this is) seemed to indicate that around the the time of announcement in 2011, it was entering full production. They were still developing Max Payne 3 alongside this mind you. GTA V released two years later.

There's also a comment from an employee in that article that says, regarding if Rockstar has changed for the better, that he/she will know for sure if they are pulling their hair out in 1-2 years. It'd be silly to take that as a direct indication or any sort of proof that GTA VI will release in the next 1-2 years but it's an interesting comment nonetheless.

My personal guess? 2021 announcement, 2022-2023 release. COVID is undoubtedly hitting development hard as well, you just need to take one look at GTAO/RDO's lack of update announcement for that.

That article was the nail in the coffin for me. Gonna take a vacation from all this bullsh*t whishing.

The golden years of gaming are gone for good.

Gaming industry becoming the number one spot its bad news. Already shows.

Its a money making machine. All this bullsh*t politics are making their way into the industry.

Movies and tv shows are a joke for some time now, but its becoming real notorious in games to.

We are all fans of this company for a reason:

The games they crafted until now. All the games created had this "bad" things that everyone is complaining about. Had the top dogs giving orders, writting scripts. They are gone. And everybody in the industry seems happy.

Take Two, now Rockstar, giving hints about "half assed games" being the future. Games that will grow after launch.

Giving excuses that all that matters is the employes. Later they will charge for sure to complete the experience. A few years ago Take Two CEO defended micro-transactions in single player games.

All this new guys coming in, replacing the "evil" old school, are more than formated to follow orders. New orders. Orders to turn the games more appeling to a broader audience. Orders to make the games more profitable.

My take on the situation:

Rocsktar/Take Two "f*cked" himselfs over with how much they milked GTA Online. All the bullsh*t happening in the sidelines, plus the milking, equals games not being produced.

Red Dead Redemption 2 must have been a nightmare to make. You have everybody in the top trying to put their vision in the game. Misleading orders.

They are flying high for sure, but as we all have seen by now. Planes are hitting the ground left and right.

All these beloved companies fall. And Rockstar is no different.

Let this sink in, and forget about the next game for some time.

Well it makes sense, the whole team was working on RDR2 while other small teams were on GTAOnline and L.A Noire Remastered/VR. Now that the big project is out it makes sense they just started focusing on the next project... remember R* Games Studios merged into one.

It was already being made for weeks lol, it's just that T2 CEO doesn't announce stuff, he let it to the studio to do it, of course they talk about it but he'll never made the announcement himself

Do you mean when he said: "We're not going to announce it. We're not going to announce when we're going to announce it. And we're not going to announce the strategy about announcing it or about when we're going to announce it either, or about the announcement strategy surrounding the announcement of the strategy. Any other questions?"
