GTA 6 Speculation & Discussion [Part 4]

Bashing YouTubers and making the topic about it (or any other kind of antagonism) will net you a warning for derailing the topic.

Please use some common sense too while discussing subjects, don't delve too deep into speculating about people's personal lives (e.g. Houser departure from R*, Rockstar developers, etc.) as they deserve privacy and not a raging fan forum to make up things about them. Needless to say, any hate will be quickly nipped in the bud.

The government really can't moan video games are protected because of the first amendment.

People in Australia have it worse. They ban games over there and sometimes cut parts of games out.

Not very exciting stuff. Making games -for the most part- isn't that fun.

You are right if you think about developing games for big companies. Indie developer, as myself, are more happy with their job and they often find their job fun and interesting, because they have the luxury of creative freedom. In Rockstar Games, rarely anyone working on the real development have creative freedom, they do what the higher ups say. Maybe they can pass some easter eggs.

"One plan that management has laid out for the next game, a new entry in the Grand Theft Auto series, is to start out with a moderately sized release (which, by Rockstar’s standards, would still be a large game) that is then expanded with regular updates over time, which may help mitigate stress and crunch".

It is indeed nice to see things in a better light that's for sure!

The 'Famous Hamburgers' sign is an excellent example of this:

It seems like I was wrong then, my prediction was late 2022 release but at this point I can't see GTA VI releasing before 2024/2025 if they really started working on it in 2019

GTA V was also early in development when it was announced. It depends on what they mean with "early". Early development can mean "story not finished", "feature-set not finished".

Guys i don't get it ... Medium sized?? They made Red Dead a secondary IP enormous and Gta Vi will be medium sized?? Also early stages of development? What were they doing so many years? It's a really grim day for Gta fans...

Looks like Dan leaving had a big impact.

Well at least it's been confirmed to be in development I suppose.

Why are people talking about Dan as if he's Rockstar or Rockstar is Dan? Dan will go and a load of other Dans in line waiting to replace him, Rockstar has many people and Dan is just one of those people.

Calm down guys, we don't even know what this means, the main point of this article is to keep the public updated about the way employees are treated at R* nowadays and what improvements have been and will be made, the rest only makes sense when you're close or work at R*.

EDIT : In the end, employees with a good mental health are better workers than the ones that have issues and more time before deadline = more time to polish

Maybe they will start serious development only when GTA Online revenue drops...

Everyone expects games to get bigger and bigger and bigger, but each new generation means higher production values (assets) and higher production values require substantially more work.

Bigger games and higher production values do not mix well.

We'll have to see what unfolds with future Rockstar games but the idea of games being released in "medium" size states and being expanded post-release is not something that surprises me, especially in this day and age with the "games as a service" type stuff. Just remember that "games as a service" can and does also mean single player too. It is not exclusive to multiplayer games.

Spider no offence man but stop giving us false hope. It's pretty clear that things are slowing down at Rockstar games. You know as well as i do that we are NOT going to get an announcement anytime soon. And i can bet you money on that.
