I think Rockstar is restricting access to tools for those who work from home in fear of possible VI leak and that could be the reason of these issues happening in Online currently. People literally lost millions.

yea working from your home computer is a lot more dangerous than working at rockstars offices.

GTAV wasn't realistic but the PS3 version of that game still looks good to this day. I wouldn't call it a downright cartoon but it's definitly a very stylised approach to realism they go for. There's times in V when the lighting is just right where I've said to myself this looks just like the official artwork they put out minus the outlines of course. I feel like I'll be saying that more consistently with GTAVI.

Leaking stuff and getting caught doing it would result in:

 

1. Getting fired and having your reputation shattered so no serious company would ever hire you again

 

2. Getting sued

 

Rockstar employees have too much to lose by leaking stuff. I think that they earn good money so getting their careers and lives ruined by leaking anything is not worth it.

Yet some still do. I'd really like to know who leaked the RDR2 map. I'm absolutely certain it was someone who left in the wake of The Benz situation, though.

Even if he left, he can still be sued if they ever found out who this is

Do Rockstar have in-house game testers or do they hire an outside firm or freelancers to test games, If they were testing games at home because of the lockdown wouldn't that be too susceptible to leakage

ive never seen the leak before, did they take a picture of it in game or on something like a document

Rockstar Lincoln is their main QA studio. Besides other studios also does their fair share of QA. So I'd guess mostly in-house.

Imagine your most exciting fantasy of what they have. Then imagine the exact opposite. That's closer to reality.  You'd be disappointed to find of one guy is just working an a model of a car door, or a QA tester is trying to fix an items texture when it's wet, etc. Not very exciting stuff. Making games -for the most part- isn't that fun.
