GTA 6 Speculation & Discussion [Part 4]

Bashing YouTubers and making the topic about it (or any other kind of antagonism) will net you a warning for derailing the topic.

Please use some common sense too while discussing subjects, don't delve too deep into speculating about people's personal lives (e.g. Houser departure from R*, Rockstar developers, etc.) as they deserve privacy and not a raging fan forum to make up things about them. Needless to say, any hate will be quickly nipped in the bud.

I’m thinking this could be a Project Americas case where a fake leaker used a potentially real one as their base

Did that currylav guy made that "drawn by my friend" leak based on the first map leak?, Cause that's very similar lol.

I'm in a weird camp with that map. When I first saw it a while back I dismissed it as fake, but looking at it coming back with topography displaying streets, buildings, and structures, and yet still low-res, indicates a bit to me that it is in fact real, yet still an early draft. The one way to prove that it is fake is to look closely into the source of the topography, which of course is challenging due to the resolution.

At this time, I'm officially in the "I assume it's legit" camp, which I almost never place for speculation on any Rockstar game. The RDR II map caught me entirely off guard when within the first few trailers people were able to corroborate locations based on landmarks on the leaked map. In this instance, the quality is different and the approach to determining its legitimacy is slightly more challenging as it does not have those identifying squares in a grid to indicate sections of the map. The low-quality of what I would like to call the "early vision" of the map looks a lot like a fanmade map in the style of GTA San Andreas, but it is possible that this is their approach to setting up locations to line up as reference to the presumably-already-written story script.

I'm also conflicted with the increased quality of portions of the same map. At this point, if it's not just an early idea, why aren't there square grids like the RDR II map, and why does half of it look fanmade? My best explanation is that multiple departments have access to the same map, but in a different style relevant to their line of work. I'm not a developer, but that's an explanation that I think is useful to breakdown the theory of this map's legitimacy.

TL;DR: the leak is likely real, and I'm going to look a bit more into it throughout this week to build a defense, as well as an argument against, whether or not this leak is real.

Yes, that's literally the point. It's the map drawn from memory.

Excellent speculation. When I first saw it a while back I too was like “Yeah, fake.” but now I’m actually reconsidering a bit

Thanks. I enjoy having the reputation of being a total BS'er on here, but at times I dial it back to critically analyze something. My findings will be either right or wrong, and I look forward to either. If the latter, then I don't face disappointment, but rather one of mildly anxious surprise for when the real map is out.

After the Leslie Benzies situation, a lot of people left Rockstar, and they had reason to be unhappy with them, and we started to see more leaks than usual, which all were proven true. My view, is that this COULD be real, and if it is, it's likely another piece that leaked out in the wake of those events. But it's also something that if you're smart and talented enough, is very easy to fake.

I believe someone on Twitter posted this back in 2018.

I'll believe the leak if any gaming website confirm the leak. If it's real I'd say jason schreier would confirm it as well. It's very hard to believe a legit gta 6 leak could go under the radar by reputed figures in gaming industry

I wouldn't go that far. He wouldn't have seen the map or anything of the game, really. He just knows Rockstar next game is a Grand Theft Auto sequel.

I think this leak is not from currylav. He just saw it original leak and used it to make his bullsh*t look credible.

That gives both the credibility, yet the risk, of any leak following those events as it can be simple to fake something that looks legitimate. Which I don't think is anything new, we had so many leaks with GTA V that were obvious fakes, minus a few. I have downloaded the GTA VI alleged maps and I'm going to try breaking them down the best that I can to explain what I see. I didn't help much with the RDR II map thread when people lined everything up, but I was so stupidly fascinated with the process that I hoped to be on board in case another map would find its way to the internet.

Regardless of our findings in the coming days, I don't think we'll be able to truly confirm it until the first trailer or screenshot comes straight from the horse's mouth. But nonetheless, speculation is fun and I look forward to reading everyone's thoughts when I write a potentially lengthy post on the GTA VI map.

At least ign or gamesradar would make article on it and say if the leak is true or not. Didn't that happen with rdr2 leak? I remember a reputed gaming website confirming the leak

Weird it states the year too.

Also that currylav guy piggybacked this leak and made two leaks, one leak states he captured a picture "when the Rockstar employee went to the toilet". Hilarious lmfao.

And I completely agree on this. I remember the early posts on the leaked RDR2 map.

They wouldn't be able to confirm or deny it either. All you'd get is:

"We reached out to Rockstar Games, but they declined to comment"

I think that’s a special case because the outlet probably screwed up and T2 knew from what was quoted that it did in fact come from a legitimate corporate document. Quoting verbal sources under anonymity is different.

I'm looking forward to that post. I've been analyzing this map for a while, ever since I saw it back in 2019, and I've low-key always seen it as somewhat legit. Only time will tell if that's true, but nevertheless I got excited by this recent pic. If it ends up being fake it's really not that big a deal since that means the map is unspoiled :)

I don't think they're in a position to do that. T2 will make sure they face unpleasent consequences.

So it seems like we must wait until rockstar drops the trailer to believe the leak. Kinda defeats the purpose of a leak if we don't know if we are believing the wrong leak and trashing the correct leak.

What I'm saying is they'll be less inclined to report on that. After all Rockstar won't comment on that at all and how else they'll verify it anyway?

No it's completely different. These maps are out in the public, commenting on them is fine. The leak that got them sued was because they published confidential information.

I wouldn't be so sure of that. Smuggling between Miami and Cuban islands makes a lot more sense. Plus they're right next to each other, which makes geographical sense.
