GTA 6 Speculation & Discussion [Part 4]

Bashing YouTubers and making the topic about it (or any other kind of antagonism) will net you a warning for derailing the topic.

Please use some common sense too while discussing subjects, don't delve too deep into speculating about people's personal lives (e.g. Houser departure from R*, Rockstar developers, etc.) as they deserve privacy and not a raging fan forum to make up things about them. Needless to say, any hate will be quickly nipped in the bud.

People sticking with Playstation since the first-second-third-fourth generation simply won't buy Series X this time. Vice-versa. No research required.

I'll stick with PC + whatever new console Nintendo will come up with for the next generation too, hoping for a day one GTA VI PC release for once.

If they do that then they won't be able to trick people into double dipping.

Poor Rockstar being forced by T2 to delay the release of the PC /s.

They absolutely have no excuses to still delay PC versions of their games, but yeah, I guess that double dip money is too good to pass up

I don't get the double dip thing. If you're having console then you'll buy it in console only. If you're having pc you'll buy pc version only. So what's the point in releasing it at different times?

Is that a picture taken for Rockstar and T2 laughing their ass off while they watch the fanboys double and triple dip? yeah I'd also be laughing my ass off if i had such a submissive flok that defend and obey me without any question.

Yeah? many people bought the game for old consoles since it only came out for the old consoles then the game came to current consoles which means people had to buy the game for the current consoles then it came for the PC which meant people who played on PC got it for PC, some people payed three times for this game, some payed twice and some a small number of people like myself waited till it came to PC.

There isn't one single not one excuse for them to release it like that other than dipping the fans.

Maybe remove those fanboy glasses in order to see clearer.

maybe people who have PC but dont have any console might buy one so they can buy and play GTA early instead of having to wait for over a year. just a guess. I dont know. that might happen with me. maybe I will buy PS5 so I can play GTA6 as soon as it comes out. whenevr that is.

I am mainly a PC gamer. If the game releases on Console first and won't be out on the PC during the same date it releases on console and there is no given date for PC Release I'll buy it on the console to play the game because I highly anticipated it. Once it releases on PC I'll double dip to play the game on controls that I prefer any enjoy. I will do the same with GTA VI since we all know it will be console timed exclusive like always.

Pretty much. Some people would still buy it and that number ain't too small either.

I only have V on PC so I don't think I'd need to upgrade and if they try to charge via a paid patch they can respectfully go f*ck themselves.

Rockstar have been delaying PC versions of their games since GTA III lmao. Was that double dipping too? I have no idea. Fact is, nothing will change in the near future because video games become more technically advanced and demanding which makes them tougher to properly optimize for PC. It took them a year to come out with an RDR 2 version and they totally f*cked it up. GTA 4 port is still not properly patched. So yeah, I'd recommend stocking up on a console or keep waiting for a year or two and maybe if you're really lucky and they won't f*ck it up you'll be able to play it in 2024/2025 :)

It sucks that rockstar doesn't treat its pc community with any respect. Mods are the reason why some 3d era games are still played by millions of ppl. I wish they properly ported the games to pc in the same way as consoles.

Make your money before releasing on platforms easily pirated.

"easily pirated" I don't think that will be the standard for Rockstar anymore.

The piracy argument was maybe valid more than a decade ago, certainly not now. Also apparently only R* games get pirated? Because everyone else has no problem releasing their games day one on PC.

Buying a console for a single game? No thanks.

I'm just saying, that's part of their 'excuse'

Yeah I've seen now that the video you posted is indeed a decade old, still, it's an argument that doesn't make much sense, unless they were afraid that releasing the game on PC right away would cause console players to build a gaming PC just to pirate it instead of buying it on the console they already owned.

The only possible explanation for them still doing this even now is the double dip money, I really can't think of anything else.

I can't see the image. But I think you mean the fact that RDR2 hasn't been cracked yet?, Yeah that's impressive. No more excuses for Rockstar to release PC port later.

Yup exactly that, "319 days and counting". That's really something for a game like this.

Which could be another potential reason for delaying a PC release? Take an extra year and really get the DRM hard to crack. In addition to extra sales. Like I said, make your money first, then sell on PC. And in RDR2's case, spend the extra time making it 'uncrackable'

It doesn't matter, GTA V PC got cracked immediately and it still was a huge success sales-wise. The Witcher 3 PC was even DRM free, still a big success.

Pirates are gonna pirate no matter what, if they can't they'll pirate something else, they are not going to pay.

They really have no excuses, again, just look at everyone else releasing their PC versions same day as consoles.

True, but any pirated copy is $$ lost. TT & Rockstar aren't happy to have good sales. They don't want pirated copies, at all.

Fair enough, but what I don't like is them charging price for the next gen version. RDR2 might deserve to be bought again but they are straight up releasing a game made with 2006 hardware in mind for full price again, that's just, greedy, selling it the 4TH time.

It would be $$ lost if the pirate would have paid for the game if it wasn't cracked, which is almost never the case. Also if that were the case they would also put a stop to consoles' used game copies market (which is not a thing on PC), which for them isn't any different than piracy (they don't receive any money from a used copy sale).

It also remains the question on why isn't any of this a problem for basically anyone else (including any dev studios owned bt T2 apart from R*).

They tried, in 2013. But Microsoft faced the backlash, and so Sony cancelled plans to follow suit. Instead, took the initiative to get a win over Microsoft and the PS4 won and never looked back. It's not up to the publishers. That's why online passes used to be a thing, they only came with brand new copies of games. If they could get away with it, they'd do almost anything to get all the money for themselves. Same with lootboxes, they were a thing until Battlefront II blew up and EA faced the brunt of it. Now they're dying off in AAA games.

Because most others aren't strong enough to challenge it. Rockstar can do it because their games are big and popular enough to a point where Rockstar can do it and people will still buy it. Others try it in different ways. For example look at 505/Remedy with Control and the next-gen upgrade. They aren't offering a free upgrade. CDPR can do it because their games sell really well, and they're banking on keeping that good will. Other publishers just get greedy, or aren't very smart about it.

It's really a case by case scenario.

This is an outdated outlook most devs followed but really no longer do, Rockstar in this respect is still very old school unfortunately.

Matches the criticisms that Rockstar have decisions made by "older british men, who don't play games". Still wish Rockstar had a community team/community manager, and better communication. They really are old school.

In a way it is, they could just release the game only digitally, of course it would be a terrible idea for AAA games

I agree but if anything this gives credibility to the theory that they just want to double dip. As you said Rockstar knows their games are extremely popular and hyped and that a lot of people aren't going to wait to play them, so they just delay the best version to make them buy it again once they finally release it. This makes much more sense than some weird anti-piracy plan that isn't gonna accomplish anything in the end anyway.
