I said "open world" games. Not levels, not racing games, open world games. Set in Miami.

Speaking of money I wonder how much money GTA VI is going to make. V made $1 billion in 3 days.  GTA VI is going to do much bigger numbers not one, not two, not three, not 4, not 5, not 6, not 7...  in billions.

It really depends. GTA V launched at the end of a 7 year generation. GTA VI will be more akin to GTA IV, in that it will likely launch around 3 years into a generation. That would suggest that it's still early into the generation, and not everyone will have a new console, as opposed to the very end of it, months before a new gen launches.

 

However, there are more gamers now, than 7 years ago. And by GTA VI's launch, that'll be around 10 years difference. Is that enough to make up the difference in numbers? Will the number of PS5's & XSX's 3 years into a generation be close to the number of 360's & PS3's 7 years in? It's really tough to say. 

 

Personally, I'd wager GTA VI will make most of it's money through long term sales, the same as GTA V. I just don't know How much it'll make in the first 3 days.

if gta 6 will beat gta 5 sales it would mean that they will milk gta online 2 for at least 20 years, so don't expect gta 7 before 2040 at least.

 

but at this point I would not expect gta 7 at all.

Nah, games will still release, they need to be refreshed periodically. Online will just be a constant. Expect after GTA VI to get another game, maybe RDR3, and then GTA VII. 5 or so years in between games, or 10 years between titles.

How much of an improvement do you guys think GTA V is going to be for next gen? They did do a lot more than i personally expected for the current gen release. Do you think they will give us something new for story mode? i don't mean story dlc or whatever (since Rockstar is allergic to it since 2013) i mean like a new feature or something

GTA V next generation is going to add Online content to single player and allow GTA Online to link with whatever the next installment has in store. Of course the engine will be updated, especially the vehicle physics, AI and ray tracing.

Not that there will be a Next GTA, if your entire team is pushing up daisies....

There's such a thing as 'working from home.'  It just takes a little longer to set the system up to allow such a thing and continue development in a degree of safety.

gta online will be a new thing on its own people will buy gta v but i think even rockstar know it wont sell like hotcakes unless it has something all the online  dlc expect things like heists  in sp like the casino but more likely just updated graphics. 

 

gta standalone is the real ticket for map expansions going off topic for a minute. 

 

map expansions for the next three maybe next updates . 

saint catalina island which the mods have hinted at for this winter update . 

lc as the first big update for the new online next year. 

and maybe late 2022 vice city when 6 comes out

Going through the reddit threads that were popping up at the time of it, a lot of people who were grinders ended up glitching and were expecting a cash adjustment if they were caught but were instead fully wiped. So a lot of them swore off the game for now. But it makes sense that R* would assess the impact of this approach before doing it, so I don't think it'll affect them.
