First post here cause for some reason I forgot this side of the Forum existed. I'm more in the Online Section but I posted part of my theory in a recent post. I have always believed that GTA was going back to Vice City. I figured it would be a modern look at Miami and southern Florida with a mix of the Gulf Coast region; Key West Islands, Caribbean, Bahamas, a little bit of Cuba etc. 

 

With Rockstar's RDR 2, Saint Dennis is a representation of New Orleans, another city of crime and mystery. Mafia 3 takes place in New Orleans, a game made by 2K, a subsidiary of Take 2 Interaction like Rockstar. Could there be a collaboration between the two to update Saint Dennis and have it as an outlying city for GTA VI along with some swamp and coastline representing the Mississippi / Alabama / Panhandle area? Miami is only a 2 hour flight from here so the distance isn't too bad considering we see how Rockstar can pull off distances between areas pretty well in RDR2.. I know its a very far fetch idea ..

 

I'm not sure if RDR universe and GTA universe fall on a similar timeline, I can't remember how that all plays out cause I vaguely remember someone mentioning New York in RDR and we know New York is Liberty City so...

They'd have to get creative with why those areas are locked off. I think having a protagonist on house arrest would be cool. Try to leave and your probation officer shows up.

Cops blocking off part of the city due to terrorism like in IV or any other reason works like corona or a curfew. I experienced that this year with all the protests going on. There was a curfew in DC. Cops were just setting up the roadblock I drove right past them lol

Basically, I don't mind either way. I liked unlocking each island, or city through story progression. But I also like games where the whole map is open from the get go. It's nice having something to look forward to " I can't wait to unlock that part of the map!" It's a cool feeling when you do. But you can just as easily wait until the story takes you there. That's what I did in GTA V, and RDR2.
