Okay, so how reliable is VectorHold? Ever heard of them before? This isn't directly meant for you, just quoting since you have connections. But has anyone else heard of them before? I've seen things like this happen before. Claims are made by someone on Twitter, etc, and everyone gets excited before finding out it's all fake. 

The account is over 7 years old, so that's a decent sign. It's not just a new account made to troll, for example. A brief google search shows they've been around a bit, though.

Vector Hold is legit when it comes to the synthwave scene, hes also had music licensed (called sync) on a HBO show afaik. I'm still not convinced yet, you could be right -- also funnily enough Kavinsky has a new album coming finally haha.

This year is possible but probably next year. GTA V will release second half of 2021.

Why Rockstar not mentioned fall 2021? 
Probably July/September release (GTA V)

Rockstar released RDR2's 1st trailer after 14 days of Mafia 3's release.

GTAVI's 1st trailer after 14 days of Mafia 1 remake's release would be a banger. It goes without saying but I don't think we should hold any breath for that reason.

Yeah, I just don't think Rockstars marketing strategy revolves around Mafia lol

You could even look deeper and say GTA VI will be announced a few weeks before Saints Row 5 releases, if you want to look at other past events...

Not so sure about it. My friends band is going to be featured on radio in Cyberpunk and they were approached by CDPR about 2 years ago. Not saying that R* has the same approach, but it's not necessarily the last thing they do.

Like performance capture is done throughout the process. many people think it's just voice acting, or mocap. Performance capture is just acting. And most people think it's done towards the end. It's not, it's done throughout the process. I don't know when radio work is done, it's certainly not as much work as acting, as they are just in a booth talking. But I don't know when it's done. I'd imagine it's not done last, but rather 'throughout', as and when their DJs are able to work, and when tracks are licensed. Some of the DJ's have a had in selecting tracks, some do it all themselves. But without a definitie list, they may not record the radio stations. 

 

Either way, I don't think this is enough to estimate when an announcement will happen.

If it is not as much work to get those radio stations it may also be Rockstar just doing this now because they can't do any mocap etc. Like they are still working at home from the looks of it and to get these radio stations is something they can do perfectly from home right? I don't know if it necessarily means they are towards the end of development, rather that this is one of the only things they can do now.

Nah, I think they have a team designated to do that work and it takes time - you have to plan all the radio stations (their "character", music direction, DJs and stuff), research the music, make sure you have all the rights, negotiate and sign all the agreements with bands and then do all the voice work. No way it has anything to do with mocap - especially in a company that has about 2000 employees.

Yeah, but Mafia is a Take Two property and Take Two most likely has a lot of say especially in marketing

 

it would be beneficial for them to use all of their labels marketing campaigns together like that as much as possible, cause why not do that?

Would it be beneficial? GTA VI would almost certainly overshadow Mafia. But by the announcement I'm sure it'd have sold enough. Most companies don't want to have everything dumped at once, though. You'd rather have things spread evenly, give them each time to breath, etc. They won't announce GTA VI purely because "Mafia released X, so we'll announce GTA VI X amount of days later" There's no real correlation. Besides, Rockstars last two announcement have come on Tuesdays in October. They have their own strategy. And it works.

Yeah one and he hasn't heard anything yet, he moved away from synthwave so isn't as active in scene anymore.

Out of curiosity - is there any particular reason you're not convinced? I'm in the same boat right now, but I'm very intrigued to say the least.

Purely cause anyone can make sh*t up these days or misinterpret whats said to them. I'm cautiously optimistic it's legit mainly cause it was posted quite lowkey, it would make sense this information circling within scene as majority of synthwave labels are small independent publishing houses.

No reason why R* would announce the game close to Mafia's release. That game will not be a GTA killer or a GTA rival due to the two game's different nature. I still have a feeling that announcement will be made in the following years.
