A DC + Baltimore(+ Philadelphia?) setting along with parts of the suburbs and the countryside of Maryland and Virginia would be a dream map for me tbh

There's one thing I'd like to see if we ever get a game in Baltimore. A small easter egg to the Poe toaster.

An interesting topic to discuss for GTA 6 is what the map will be like.
Most, perhaps all GTA games are on an island, because having a land based world border, such as in RDR, is hard to pull off in an immersive way when you have aircraft.

Do you think Rockstar would ever break this trend? Or stick to what they know best for GTA?

Stuff like that might be easier to pull off nowadays with modern tech and more modern game engines. 

 

Say the landlocked map border was a desert - they could, for example, have terrain procedurally generating itself for a while and then have your aircraft shut down with the heat or something, forcing you to die and respawn back on the map. 

 

If you did manage to survive and they do use RDR2's cores function they could just deplete your health, stamina, etc.

I don't mind an island map so much cause I like that I can explore wherever I can lay eyes on in terms of the external world, so even if the border is just procedurally generated terrain it would annoy me that I can't go and explore those lands even if they're nothing significant. Like in GTA III it mildly irritates me that I can't know what's beyond Shoreside tunnel. It's not a big deal really, probably if it's just sone desert it wouldn't matter so much but that's probably why though island maps may be unrealistic I don't mind them. 

 

(Though on a personal note if I do want Capital City as the next setting the idea Spider Vice suggested may have to do, though I guess if they add the countryside areas of nearby Maryland and stuff you could still have a water border)

Yes, I would love to see an endless desert (or plains), instead of endless ocean... Remember when we thought Grand Theft Auto V would be landlocked?

Free upgrade if you own the copy on lastgen. Anyways GTA Online will be standalone and free next year.

 

Expect GTA VI(6) 2023 by the lastest to kick nextgen off for Rockstar, maybe they will announce this year? If so I hope it's a big GTA Online event and you could only watch the trailer in the movie theater.

I always assumed Rockstar has kept on making islands since New York, LA and Miami are all by the ocean. It's a smart way of mixing game design with real life geometry.

 

I don't doubt that they could make a fully landlocked map and keep the immersion, being the tech wizards that they are, but they would have to sacrifice some stuff (like sea travel, no fun driving a boat in a lake compared to an ocean).

 

Now I'm thinking though, how would they make it work if one side of the map is landlocked and the other an endless ocean? Let's say you decide to travel up by boat to the landlocked part of the map, what would happen if you kept sailing along the coast? Endless ocean AND land?

Rockstar will make with major changes and now we can assume, a VR mode, not just resolution and frame rate boost to push for a separate release. 

Cynic in me thinks what MS is doing will only push publishers to make major upgrades to the base versions, not just resolution and frame rate bump.

Would work like Watch Dogs 2, you'd still be blocked by a coast, and if you attempted to sail along the coast your boat would lose power/you would die/something like that. In a sense I guess yes, endless ocean and land  Endless ocean is easy enough, even GTA SA had it.

You will play the XONE/PS4 version on X/PS5, if you want to play the new version you will have to buy it

I truely believe that it is gonna be announced late this year. People are taking gta v ps5 port too serously, like it is gonna affect anything. History has showed that they easyly can marked two things at a time.

think people hate to say need to keep hopes low for gta 6 . 

im sure it will be good story but i could easily see being just vice city a map the size of  gta 4 that come under the moderate sized tittle umbrella. 

there is a reason there are dividing online from sp . 

its not load times that will be better on next gen and loading times for online depends on your internet speed. 

map expansions eliminates the sync issues with sp smaller file sizes .

BIG OL FAT FACTS @Zello I rolled my eyes when they said " continuing the adventures of the  trio in next gen" I'm like really? just be f*cking honest and say you're port this game only to squeeze online much further. Just watch, they are going to release the game again and neglect SP all over again.. with the sole focus of "expanding and improving" online.
