GTA 6 Speculation & Discussion [Part 4]

Bashing YouTubers and making the topic about it (or any other kind of antagonism) will net you a warning for derailing the topic.

Please use some common sense too while discussing subjects, don't delve too deep into speculating about people's personal lives (e.g. Houser departure from R*, Rockstar developers, etc.) as they deserve privacy and not a raging fan forum to make up things about them. Needless to say, any hate will be quickly nipped in the bud.

It seems most people want Vice City but I really hope we get to see Carcer City (Chicago/Detroit). After GTA V it's time for a more serious, gritty and down to earth game. We need a change of pace.

Carcer City is close to Liberty City so it wouldn't be based on Chicago or Detroit.

Can we all agree we need a hybrid between Detroit and Chicago for the next setting. Or we still want sunny beaches?

Vice city is so iconic it would be a waste to not have an hd game there. We dont have a great game focused on the drug trade ( at least in the last couple of years) so it could really be the ultimate game in regards to that theme.

Also for anyone that says we been in VC before.

3 takes place in NY. Also 4.

3s Liberty city looks like a joke compared to 4 breathtaking city.

Now imagine Vice City on the latest generation.... Just imagine...

More than lacking carcer city, it is based entirely on philadelphia pennsylvania with detroit in appearence.

Carcer City "doesn't exist" really. And by that, I mean; Yes of course it exists, but it's likely always going to be a place that is referenced, for the purpose of world building, to make it feel like there are places and cities outside the one you're playing in. Making the world feel a lot more real and believable. But we'll never see it or ever go there.

Whatever, we don't need no Carcer City, as we have... Liberty City, and that's what we need now, or sometimes in the future.

Carcer city serves as an alternative to liberty city.

Everyone doesn't like the idea of going back to liberty, fans want to see new cities but I'm not saying it's bad to see liberty city for 4to see.

we will probably see lc again but not in six i thought we would but the more likely option is it will be a map expansion to the new standalone online .

the likely timeline is probably

fall next year rockstar announces lc as a map expansion  to the new online ps 5 players only for the first three months .

late next year they announce gta 6 the return to  vice city a drug smuggling storyline set in the modern day likely sa  gurama style location or locations .

and vice city will be ported to new online in late 2022 2023 and gta online will work like san andreas fly to the cities through the airports.

sp divided from online is better anyway shorter load times and less overall memory in five next gen and six

But an 80s Vice City would be the most down to earth game as the violence and struggle for power depicted would not be far from the truth of what occurred in Miami during the peak of the crack epidemic.

That’s all we can do imagine. Just a few more years..

I’ll be lost in VC in GTA VI, my PS5 would run for weeks.

Time to rewatch Scarface on Netflix.

80's Vice City has been done twice, they won't do it again.

Sorry to burst your bubble but they most certainly will.

Rockstar North Lead Producer Leslie Benzies said

“There are a few references to the city in our current-gen GTAs so it is part of that HD universe, and it is certainly somewhere we would love to revisit. However Vice City, perhaps more than any other GTA game, was as much about the era as the setting. Miami in the 1980’s is so iconic it would feel strange to revisit the city in a different time period.“

I don't think Benzie's word weighs as much considering that it all comes down to Sam now. But I would love to see 80s Vice City again so I am hoping it is next.

Well put this way most of the GTA producers spent their childhood/teen years in the 80s. A lot of them now in their 50s + The length it takes to now develop a R* game. GTA 6 will probably be for a lot them their final GTA.

With their love and passion for the 80s setting, the history of Vice City being set in the 80s and it probably being their last GTA they’ll produce.

I think GTA 6 will be their love letter and they’ll want to set that love letter in the 80s.

So we're already acting like single player doesn't exist?

Benzies is gone but I'm sure there are many who are still at R* who feel the same way about 80's Vice City.

Looks like there's gonna be another Big Z Money Trumpet Event (TM) on Monday 3 August, 16:30 Eastern Time.

He will inevitably be asked questions by investors about the PS5 launch, I'm sure of it.

You got a point there. VC being the last GTA in a good while. I would want both 80s and a modern vision of VC. And also, how much I miss love letters for whatever reason lol. Anyways, I've said it, if they plan on sticking to very long dev times, I expect them to actually start listen to what features are best for the the franchise. There is filler in sometimes that doesn't fit what they are trying to get across.

I’m hoping GTA 6 has similar vibe to these films the Sun, Sex and drugs. The contrast of a tropical paradise being overrun with violence and corruption. To me it would be perfect.

I'm still hoping against hope for Capital City. I just want to see R* take on the capital of America dammit!

Though the risk with that would be a government heavy storyline but I'm sure they won't go for the obvious, no one expected an LA setting to be heist focused after all

The only controversy I can see with DC is that it brings back memories of the DC sniper.

They're close in proximity but not similar. Night and day actually. Both places have different vibes and lingo and don't get along with the other. It's kind of like a sibling rivalry between cities.

At least that's how it was when I was growing up. I have family from both areas.

They are rumors about LA Noire's development team are working with Rockstargames.

So we know there was a LA Noire 2 leak a year or so ago...

I was wondering if they will advance LA Noire like how True Crime advanced into Sleeping Dogs.

We all know Rockstargames advanced GTA into GTA Online, sadly.

Do you believe we getting something like True Crime transition into Sleeping Dogs or completely new VR game?

What if LA Noire is introducing VR into GTA 6 and will cause another delay?

It's not Team Bondi. It's just the team that did the VR Case Files.

I live in Maryland but in the DC suburbs in PG County. DC's economy relies a lot on government jobs. You or someone you know in your family works for the government in some way or shape or form. Be it as a janitor or at one of the government agencies or a government contractor. DC is also getting gentrified like a lot.

Baltimore is more blue collar and poorer.
