GTA 6 Speculation & Discussion [Part 4]

Bashing YouTubers and making the topic about it (or any other kind of antagonism) will net you a warning for derailing the topic.

Please use some common sense too while discussing subjects, don't delve too deep into speculating about people's personal lives (e.g. Houser departure from R*, Rockstar developers, etc.) as they deserve privacy and not a raging fan forum to make up things about them. Needless to say, any hate will be quickly nipped in the bud.

Again, I don't think it would make sense to announce GTA VI, just a few months after the release of V for PS5.

Rockstar is surely aiming to build a new community on PS5 and quite a few new GTA Online players will come, therefore I don't imagine them announcing a new game in the series.

2022 is more reaslistic, although I would love to be suprised.

A year has twelve months, depending when gta 5 enhanced gets released a gta 6 announcement could happen.

I think that GTA VI will be announced in 2021 or 2022 and that the game will release in 2023. The fact that they re-released GTA V on PS5 and Xbox Series X might be a sign that they are milking what they can from Gta V and Gta online one last time before GTA VI comes and take all the spotlight

I think this might even mean the opposite to be quite honest. Releasing it on next-gen consoles to me indicates that this is going to remain R*s main forcus for the foreseeable future. Unless of course the existing version of GTA:O becomes its own seperate entity, independent of VI. But fat chance of that ever happening.

I’d like to add something to the debate here that I’ve been thinking about for the last few weeks - as I know others have too and for much longer. Could it be that we are all assuming GTA6 is going to be the next thing without thinking about how the marketing fratboys in T2 seem to view and rule their world?

We all know that the thousands of R* conscripts are working on something big, and that something appears to have been restarted and quite possibly repurposed from the foundations-up recently. Even if they still place value on the lineage of game development in the studio, there is no real obligation for them to jump into making GTA6. They could hold that option for some point in the future. We might not have heard anything about Six for a good reason: there isn’t a Six in any meaningful sense.

I guess what I’m saying is this - after the ridiculous and self-defeating audacity of the GTA5 PS5 stunt, don’t rule out the possibility that we’ll get something totally leftfield in a year or two. I dunno, a castle warlord simulator, or a space-race battle platform involving Spanish galleons and jungle psychedelics.

Equally, something much more bland, unoriginal, shallow, quick to make but guaranteed to coin it for them big time might be on the way. Fortnite’s soaring success unfortunately coincided with the time when they had to decide which direction to take.

I'm hopeful that those are just placeholder prices since it says £70, not that I'm actually going to buy the game again.
When gaming companies are already making tens of millions of dollars, some hundreds of millions, in profit. While STILL including micro transactions. I think it's such a slap in the face to see Take Two make this move. Especially in a pandemic.

I admire your optimism, but next gen games are gonna be 70 bones

And it seems GTA5 is no exception

70 GBP is actually 87 USD so it's even more expensive than that.

oh true true

While next gen games are already confirmed to be 70 USD, lets hope R* is generous enough to offer 5 at a cheaper price. Not counting on it though.

Wow that is insane. "It's about time."
The author argues it can be used to increase the wages of the workers while being bold enough to include Take Two's reasoning:
"We believe our suggested retail price for NBA 2K21 on next-generation platforms fairly represents the value of what’s being offered" .
No mention of that in there. It's frustrating to see this being portrayed as a good thing when gaming publishers and studios have shown explicitly in the past their greed and their lack of concern for employee well being.

Just a few years ago that sh*t wouldve been called out and scrutinized, now everyone is just content with it.
