Bashing YouTubers and making the topic about it (or any other kind of antagonism) will net you a warning for derailing the topic.

Please use some common sense too while discussing subjects, don't delve too deep into speculating about people's personal lives (e.g. Houser departure from R*, Rockstar developers, etc.) as they deserve privacy and not a raging fan forum to make up things about them. Needless to say, any hate will be quickly nipped in the bud.

What does a set builder do when he/she/it works?

I don't know if it's different for video games, but I'm a set builder for movies and television. It's just carpentry (building flats and moveable walls, and other structures). I didn't know video games used real sets though, or maybe it's for a commercial.

More than likely just the basic props they use, to simulate the environment on set. Since it's all performance capture, there's no 'real' set. But they still need something to simulate tables, walls, cars, etc. Look up any footage. The Last of Us has some good behind the scenes stuff. Would make sense to be that.

Can you read the job description and explain us what it might be used for rockstar?

As Len said, you still need someone to make the basic shapes that will be augmented into the game footage. There are probably fewer and less detailed set items compared to conventional stages, but there is likely to be much more configuration and logistics involved.

It goes on all the time, they use mocap for just about everything including DLC updates for online. A good example being the After Hours DLC, where the the four real-life DJs each did an actual live set in a mocap suit.

You can even mocap a horse if you want!

What I predict is that Gta 6 will bring back the Gta 5 map and expand it to include San Fierro or Las Venturas. They just done this with Red Dead Redemption 2 by bringing back New Austin down to the tiniest detail and expanding upon it with new areas, and I very well believe they're going to do it again.

I wonder how hard some of the mocap sequences in the Red Dead games were. Near the end of the first one, I heard that Benjamin Byron Davis suffered two broken necks and spine snapped in three places when he slipped off the platform representing the cliff. Thankfully he took the thing in stride and came back for the sequel, only to ride a mocapped trolley without a harness and crack his head open. What a godsend.

That of course doesn't compare to Scott Hill's reprisal of Johnny Klebitz in GTA V. Steven Ogg reportedly had to see a therapist for three months when Dan said that brain matter was not a prop, it was a feature

Giancarlo Esposito is an awesome actor btw. His range is scary. I'd seriously consider buying a game with him, but if it's Far Cry(which it is most likely), then it's pretty lame because every villain in Far Cry appears like two-three times throughout the whole game lol.

You view him through the scope of a sniper rifle in Far cry and he does this and then you never see him again in the game lol

I see him do that, I pull the trigger. In the past couple of Far Cry games, there's always been a way to 'beat' the game inside the first 15 minutes lol

What if it's 2 separate GTAs exclusively for the Xbox Series X and PS 5?

Wouldn't that be a kicker.

R* said "And for the massive and vibrant community of Grand Theft Auto Online players worldwide, the journey through the ever-evolving, shared world of GTA Online will continue on to the new generation with more new updates including additional GTA Online content exclusive to the new consoles and PC. There will also be a new standalone version of GTA Online coming in the second half of 2021, which will be available for free exclusively for PlayStation 5 players during the first three months." so I think that is happening.

Just read it. This is exactly up my alley. Wish I was located in NYC because I need the work! It mentions prop fabrication which corresponds to what @Volatollotalov  said in which props are there to assist motion capture. I would assume most of the work would be individual props as well. Unless they have a way of mapping built sets to put in the game, I don't see why they would need practical sets unless they were for a video project. Maybe technology has made it faster to build a 3D interior in a video game by building it in real life first and mapping it? Similar to a Reference Ball (used for lighting).

This would also support the Miami location scouts where Rockstar took pictures of interiors. The pictures would be put into plans and given to a construction coordinator to build a replica. Movies do this too for locations they weren't able to secure.

I hope they really went back and worked on the game since it’s delay and added our underground train system and enterable shops but I doubt it

They better. I want to be able to go into train stations and ride the train. If we can't that will be so disappointing.

No... I don't want Grand Theft Auto games set in Europe or Asia, or any other continent... I play them, because they are set in the United States of America... However, I would like to see Getaway 3 in London.

Unfortunately Ubisoft are a fairly lazy developer when it comes to their open worlds they never really go above and beyond.

sh*t even R* managed to take two steps back with their trains in V compared to IV

Dude, just apply for the job! Who knows where that might take you? Give it a go - this is what holds so many people back.

If you're the right guy for the work then they might even relocate you and family if you ask. They're not exactly tight on budget, they need quality people to make their ideas happen ASAP. Even more so right now it would seem.

You have nothing to lose - go for it. (And if you go dark, we'll assume it has worked out well for you.)

I wouldn't say Ubisoft is lazy they just prioritize and focus on the different wrong things than R* do.

Oh my. Not quite GTA London but for sure GTA Bradford. This is exactly the kind of thing that Sam Houser pays millions for.

Ubisoft has a problem with Far Cry. They released way too many of them in a very short amount of time.
