Here's the thing. More people like GTA V, than those who don't. I expect the people who will be happy to play GTA V on next gen will far outweigh those who are unhappy about it. And again, GTA VI is STILL coming. It's not THAT bad.

Exactly. If GTAVI comes in 2022-'23, that's perfectly fine and within expectation. But people act like porting GTAV/GTAO to next gen consoles means R* is not working on GTAVI or it's being delayed internally to 2025. That's absolutely ridiculous thinking.

I guess they'll test some of VI's features in the next gen versions of V.

If Sony and Rockstar Games partnership is a thing and can be maintained in the upcoming years then I can expect an announcement before PS5 actually got released and consider a 1 or 2 months exclusivity on PS5 when the time comes for GTA6. It's business, right?

The thing is, people always presume those 'teases' as they put it, are the thing they want to hear. When Rockstar said that back in what? January? Half the people were convinced it would be a GTA VI announcement. I'm used to the typical PR speak Rockstar use. Anyone who's been around longer than GTA IV or V can tell you that. "in a few weeks or so". It's just their way of sayinging they'll have more to share soon.... "soon" another dreaded phrase by Rockstar

Rockstar has always had partnerships with Sony and no mainline GTA game ever had timed exclusivity other than DLC.

 

I still don't think V remastered stops a VI announcement. It might stop detailed info etc but not an announcement.

Theoretical timeline:

 

September 2021: Release GTA V on Next Gen

 

October 2021: Announce GTA VI

 

GTA V PS5 sales get a boost, in reaction to the announcement. Rockstar release a statement shortly after giving a brief statement about the game, following a trailer. Then announce anyone who plays GTA V on PS5 will be eligible to earn bonuses for GTA VI/Online 2 when it launches.

 

Some Time Later in 2023: Rockstar announce Bonus missions available in GTA V, exclusively on next gen, perhaps PS5 to unlock unique weapons in GTA VI. Like the golden revolver in RDR2. All GTA VI pre orders come with $10M in GTA Online on PS5.

 

That's exactly the sort of thing I expect.
