GTA 6 Speculation & Discussion [Part 4]

Bashing YouTubers and making the topic about it (or any other kind of antagonism) will net you a warning for derailing the topic.

Please use some common sense too while discussing subjects, don't delve too deep into speculating about people's personal lives (e.g. Houser departure from R*, Rockstar developers, etc.) as they deserve privacy and not a raging fan forum to make up things about them. Needless to say, any hate will be quickly nipped in the bud.

I think they'll improve on what they added to rdr2 in the next gta game. I hope the weight system improves, gore improves, number of enterable buildings, etc.

Yeah exactly that. Also with building changes and been able to interact more with NPC’s

But playing RDR2 it seems like they’re testing the water with some things for GTA VI what do you think?

In SP, to a degree, for sure. Their priority will obviously be make RDR2 great and it's own thing but they probably looking at stuff like the survival mechanics, RPG systems, limited weapon loadout and things like that for GTA VI.

GTAO and RDO on the other hand, those two are giant test beds for future games 100%. RDO has went in it's own direction but there's a very clear influence there with what they learned from GTAO. I imagine we'll see a lot of what they learned through GTAO and RDO in GTAO2 too.

As much as I want the next installment of GTA, I’d love to see them put out something totally different, a genre they’ve never done before.

Yeah, I compiled most of them here. But there's other smaller things I didn't include post announcement, since that wasn't the focus.

I just read all of this and what an impressive post. I have pages written over the years from when I was really young up to a couple of years ago on GTA speculations and what comes next based on news I've read or things I've found in the games but there is a lot of stuff here I didn't know about. The RDR2 stuff was particularly interesting as I remember not really taking those 'leaks' onboard as much as GTA. Going to have to go digging through my stuff now to see if I have anything relevant to post. Great job. This is the kind of stuff worthy of discussing on the GTA VI thread.

There was a bit of rumbling way last year about them working on a new game and it was medieval based but nothing has been said for some months now. GTA is number one for most of us but honestly I would settle for Bully II, Manhunt 3 or even a new Smuggler's Run at this point or a completely new game altogether.

Medieval has never been my thing but it would definitely be worth playing if Rockstar were the ones making it.

So how long has this Scottish guy got before he has to, you know, say something of substance? Or will he be banned then unbanned again and have the entire board named after him?

Rockstar has a problem with the half-life of their games.  Rockstar has a huge open world but still it is closed for us. We need more random events and buildings to enter. We can't do anything but follow the path that Rockstar tells us to follow. And that's boring. The game world must be able to change.

I wish me two updates every year for the offline mode. A story update and an update that synchronizes the content from online. And two updates (summer, winter) for the online mode

I think the Red Dead games are better games than GTA. Perhaps because they're more focused on the period and theme. Unlike GTA which often tries to do too much, or let you do too much? But I'll never love RDR like GTA.  I think people put a little too much stock on them doing things in games purely as a test for the next game. In this case, some think Guarma is just there as a test for GTA VI. However, as part of a larger vision, then sure. They have to plot their course over what their next 2 or 3 games will be. Especially considering one will be in pre production as another is close to wrapping.

However, just go back and look at their last 4 open world games: GTA IV, RDR1, GTA V, RDR2. There are some natural evolutions, especially from RDR1 to GTA V. But general gameplay things, it's quite often completely different.

I don't get why people complain, if you don't like the preacher , you don't need to listen or follow what they're saying, if you do like the preacher then listen to his comments, it's not a big issue

You know Rockstar have masterfully crafted a living, breathing world when people are angrily arguing and fighting over public transport even in the GTA world.

This. It's quite underwhelming that they have a big map but you can't enter the majority of the buildings and the side missions are underwhelming. You can't really live up to the GRAND and THEFT in GTA after you are done with the story and you really should. Why can't Franklin, who is not retired of that life after the last mission, continue robbing stuff by using the other crew members you had during the heists? Have a list of buildings which you can rob and that refill after some time has passed. That and expand on the drugs and make Franklin try to have the success Lamar just could not have.

Why can't Michael, for example, use the money and actually run business (like in GTA VCS) out of properties you could buy and make it your own, and not stuff already pre-established like Cinema's, which you really don't much with? It does not have to be super detailed but at least create a number of activities which you can do as a owner to allow the business to grow and maintain it (obviously which a touch of what you expect from GTA). With multiple cities this could be even more expanded on by taking the companies you have in one town to another, etc.

And even with Trevor, they really should have expanded on the meth business quite a lot and have side missions where you could take over a lot other territories where that is produced and sold.

I hope the new generation allows the power to expand on many things, specially making the game feel more alive. That is always my main problem with Free Roam Games, they are mega fun, for the most part, when you have the story but once you don't have that it feels so empty. Considering how much time there normally is between releases, they really should expand on what you can do post story. Don't make it like Sims, where you have to do every mundane task, but also don't make it this empty. Include tasks that would fit the logic and that users could understand given the story.

For me RDR wins in story GTA wins in gameplay.

Mentioned this before but play or watch the Guama chapter of RDR2. That seemed like a blatant test for something in the future considering you only do about 3 or 4 missions in this wildly detailed environment.

GTA V was perfect for it's time and for the hardware it was built for.

Playing as a cop that gets dragged in to the world of dirty cops and crime, in the next GTA, would be cool!

This would be a great idea, because it hasn't been done before in a gta game

Imagine if it was built for ps4 though, how much more could have been added.

Yes I agree. I dont understand people talking about gta V being sh*t. When it was freshly released people were obsessed with it. But now the game is getting old and people talking it being sh*t.

I think it's because of the features that were taken away from gta 4, euphoria physics were better, there were more activities, enterable buildings, etc

Depends how you look at it. Imo, both are on the same level. I liked the realistic physics of iv and the story of the game but I also like the more colorful and more "arcade gta" physics style of gta v.

Class idea if they kept something like the honour system from RDR2 to choice your side if you went uncover with say a cartel and bring in the drug system some people want and choose to high honour to still be with the law or go the further down the rabbit hole with a life of crime to be come kingpin or something.Keep mechanics that work and leads to alt endings and your choices effect it would be interesting

That'd be pretty neat.. Maybe not as a main game feature, but a mode you can activate within the game?

Is there anyway where I can see the figures for GTAO like Players per month over the past 4 years or something? To see if it has dropped massively or the other way round, maybe that would indicate them announcing a new GTA if GTAO was dying?
