True, but I'd argue that it's also about the talent and the fact that since Grand Theft Auto 3, the successive titles were written, directed and produced by the same figures, which allowed the series to find its footing from the early days. They heavily invest into the infrastructure on which their games are built, from motion capture, physics and animations, to graphics rendering and NPC behaviors, and the result is that each consecutive game looks and feels like a leap over the previous one. Take the horses of 2010's RDR as an example and how only Redemption 2 was the proper upgrade over it and not, say, the multiple Ubisoft's AC games that followed.

Thats not impossible especially considering that Red Dead online wasn't as big as Gta so they would want to start asap.

Maybe they wanted to find out a temporary solution to get more time for the next GTA release? Maybe that's why they agreed to collaborate with Epic Games and now Sony to provide free game for millions of players which may, potentially spend money to get themselves in-game items in GTA Online.

It's very difficult to justify a RDR2 remaster if they want it to sell a full price or closer to that. RDR2 already looks phenomenal. Just a BC patch to crank up some effects, frame rate, resolution, a shaper TAA solution like what we have on the PC version now would go a long way

 

I always thought that they're not gonna touch GTAV again as they haven't even released a Pro/X patch for current gen consoles. But thinking it from another angle shows an entirely different picture. They probably wanted to do a next gen version for some time due to it's popularity and to fill the gap between releases. And for that reason they intentionally didn't provide any Pro/X patch to make the upgrade much more stark and visible to causal players.

It was it's own thing I believe there weren't any references to the first two games at all.

 

I'm also disappointed that EA hasn't thrown it's hat into the ring especially after they said this 5 years ago.

What if there is a separate group that focus on GTA Online, and the reason they’re bringing it to the PS5 is to continue and build upon GTA Online. While when the next GTA realises it wont have online they’ll just update the separate GTA Online with new maps? Kind of like a separate game. But since they’re doing this they might as well bring over GTA 5 too

Resetera is the deepest hell of gaming forums. Don't expect people to be rational there. Also don't forget that Jason blocks people who point out him being a hypocrite.

 

As for the joke, I know one when I see one but maybe a journalist, a well known one that is, shouldn't have made this joke. Very bad PR.

Rockstargames already cancelled Bully 2, the next Midnight Club and you know they'll cancel Manhunt before those 2.

We'll already know rumors and leaks say GTA 6 is still being developed.

It’s all just a theory but think about this 

 

- liberty city map expansion was supposed to happen 

- GTA online is now about to be a standalone game and will be expanded (EXPANDED) 

- what if R* will bring back that cut Expansion  and implement it to GTA Online 

- in my honest opinion I think Liberty city will come to online and will keep us fresh till GTA 6 come out that’s just my thoughts.

i suspect that strongly if liberty city is not in 6 good chance we might get it in the meantime . 

i always thought why they canned lc for v was due to sync issues with single player stand alone online game makes it a lot easier . 

i did think gta 6 will be vice and liberty city but if gta 6 is a smaller tittle this would make more sense like the island system from past gtas san andreas five map liberty city 4 map and south florida i assume for 6 bring the airport system from san andreas back i could see that instead of countryside between lc and vc

There's already too much of GTA Online, literally everywhere. We don't want them focusing on V era multiplayer for 10 more years. At this rate, they shall even port the game to Android/iOS.
