Bashing YouTubers and making the topic about it (or any other kind of antagonism) will net you a warning for derailing the topic.

Please use some common sense too while discussing subjects, don't delve too deep into speculating about people's personal lives (e.g. Houser departure from R*, Rockstar developers, etc.) as they deserve privacy and not a raging fan forum to make up things about them. Needless to say, any hate will be quickly nipped in the bud.

Well I think GTA 6 won't be revealed at all. Rockstar will just continue milking GTA V and its disappointing. Don't know whats gonna happen with pc version.

What we know for sure there will be a standalone gta online version for ps5. gta5 story campaign will also be re-released on next-gen, the official statement is very clear on that. As for anything after gta5, no one knows for sure.

I do believe they already have different teams working on online and story. Rockstar games has 8 different studios and over 2000 employees. I'm pretty sure they can manage more than one component at once. They probably have different teams working on online and story -- but working in collaboration.

But now about this thread's topic : GTA6. Thing is, today's announcement clearly indicates they want to keep milking gta5 online for as long as possible. I was already pretty damn sure GTA 6 is still in early development. Now I'm even more sure. Today's announcement tells me they have no new game coming for a long time.

Regardless if they do things differently or not for the release of GTA6, I'd be shocked if we get any release before 2024. My best guess is 2025.

There is something fishy about this.

GTAV is getting released on next gen on the second half of 2021, thats minimum a year away from now, and they probably have started way before. Lets say they started 6 months ago and the remaining development time is 1 year and 6 months, 2 years of development time in total at minimum.

The Xbox X and (specially) PS5 are just a more powerful versions of the current gen consoles. Even Mark Cerny said you can compile and get running a game PS5 for less than a month, considering GTAV is an already existing game, has amazing optization (it was a PS3 game), they will probably use the PS4 version as a base, modify the graphics configuration and compile it for PS5.

Now this process seems too easy for just a port that takes minimum two years to make, there is no way they are just porting it and taking too long.

THEORY 1: they are porting it to a new version (and next gen only) of the RAGE engine, which will be the engine of GTA VI and they will use this as a test bed for the next GTA. This would explain the extended and late development time. The good part of this is we can datamine the files once its released for leftovers from VI development.

THEORY 2: the development of VI was restarted at some point, and this late 2021 release is just to fill a gap between releases. This is the worst case scenario.

I do indeed believe “GTA ONLINE” being a standalone game will indeed expand the whole game into more maps...if I remember correctly didn’t one of the big time developers (not sure if it was Leslie) said they wanted to make it happen? Well looks like it.

Nothing will Happen about GTA 6 in the next 2-3 Years. Maybe a Announcement in 2 Years. And Release in 3-4 Years. You read it here first. All Insider are Fake Kids... And you (the most guys here) have believe this Fakes.

Dudes, just... don't even try.

There won't be any map expansion. It's just Grand Theft Auto: Online with some new shaders

Sam Houser told me.

Both theories may be correct and I’m pretty sure that the project was restarted after RDR 2 for different reasons (maybe they’ve increased the scope due to deciding that GTA 6 will be a next-gen title or due to internal issues that resulted key personnel leaving, take2 may be involved in this).

Testing for a new engine ( or upgrading the existing one) seems plausible. It’s clearly the GTAO is limited by current gen. Now they can increase population and cars density, they can add more weather effects, better textures, increase tessellation, throw out loading times and add wacky stuff to it and make it 4k/60 fps. Basically they could turn online like how they’ve imagined it in the first place. This will be a blueprint for GTA 6 (online wise). The best part is that they can do that without affecting the actual code, the engine supports this, now they have more horsepower for it. So it makes sense.

clearly GTA 6 is at least 3 years away as more content for online will clearly come.

BTW, releasing 7 year old game, built on 2006 hardware and showing it captured on last gen for a next gen presentation was GOLD. It’s so bad it’s actually good.

The engine will support it though.

1. It's not a cult..

2. It's not about GTA V expanded and enhanced.

Absolutely with you @thecoolfattykid. I am no businessman but this looks pretty profitable on the long run once they release GTA VI because they will have 2 games people will throw their money at. I am baffled how T2 lets Rockstar's name to get dirty like that but maybe I shouldn't be surprised.

Y’all have too much faith in this water down has been version of R*. GTA V won’t get a map expansion, it’s simply going to be the same old sh*t from the last two gens.

At this point I’m starting to think that GTA 6 really is in early development.

Do you guys think in GTA 5 on next gen that they will include the cut content? Like Police arresting, scenarios around the city, animations and more?

Just look at this trailer, I haven't seen that in gta before at 0:42

I don't think rockstar is that dumb. They must know that people would be a bit angry or disappointed if its same as ps4 version. And also its releasing next year. If its almost one and half year away. They'll surely add somet new

Definitely not. We will probably get a lame graphical upgrade and that's it.

I think it's too early to say what will be there and what will not be. We have almost no info other than the fact that it's coming next year again

What the f*ck is this new part? If the douchebags-donatery brought in money at times more than the money from the sale of the single? "Why?"sh*t-eaters need to be fed with sh*t, so why bother?

As much I like games that are built to last, sometimes enough is enough. I can understand Mojang doing so with Minecraft, since the game is built to last and no one really expects a sequel or anything since the game is made to be updated with new content both playable in single player and multiplayer. GTA V on other hand is a installment in a series in which people expect a sequel, don't get any single player additions and only get online support that is not in taste for everyone.

I've seen a lot of reactions by now and I've seen no one who was like 'omg so cool', everyone thinks this is pure sh*t which it is.
