It still baffles me how such a controversial title gets such large ads on the Figueroa Hotel. Obviously money talks and not like it's illegal to market adult products but I bet Jack Thompson and the concerned parents are sweating in nervousness everytime they see it.

In the AAA space the giant RPG-isation of all single player games in recent years has lead to 30 hours being considered short these days.

By 2008 standards it is, it was a response to the other member being very surprised about the game being beaten in 4 hours.

30-40 hours is the sweet spot these days tbh. Any game, and RDR2 is one, that starts going into the 50-60+ hour mark for the main story in my experience has parts of the story that could easily be cut out IMO.

I completed story mode in GTA IV in ~20 hours. It was pretty long by 2008 standards, not so much nowadays.

You can "complete" RDR 2 story in 12 hours

Before V was in peoples thoughts years ago. A lot of people used to question our selfs about how R* marketed their games. Knowingly they were a secretive and quiet company, still to this day. Many would say that they didnt market and advertised properly like any company did to get customers or spark an interest to have new ones. Until the start of V that we realized that R* did these types of gigantic marketing techniques which major labels do. Art Murals, adverts on public transport  etc, exposure everywhere. Until we actually realized that they do, but only when they are surely on schedule to release their titles. They market their titles like Production and movie companies putting their product everywhere. Now, Im actually looking forward next title release, can't wait to see what else they slap their logo on.

Do you guys remember the Gta iv keys to the city contest? I think you had one month from release to 100 percent the game. You would  unlock a special 100 percent theme for pc and enter a contest for some goodies like an actual key or something like that. Been a while so its fuzzy.

 

I did it but couldn't enter the contest because it was US only, something i discovered after doing the whole thing

You do realise the speculation caused by strategised insiders/leaks, y’know, the exact thing that’s happening right now, is part of Rockstar’s marketing campaign? They’re letting the jacuzzi warm up, before the bubbles get going (TV adverts, Billboards, public transport), and eventually for the party to get going and for everybody to jump in.

 

It happened with IV, it happened with V and it worked absolutely DELIGHTFULLY for them. They don’t even have to particularly ‘advertise’ anymore? We do it for them.

I remember. I didn't want to rush myself, for a chance to get one. Would have loved one, though. They were on ebay for a short while, though. Might still be.

@Acky. Im not talking about leak terms or how the rumors spead or get started. Im talking how they market outside of the gaming spectrum. The marketing techniques they use to reach at the normal consumer, the people that dont know about their video games. the average joe that isnt into video games.  The adversting they use to target those folks. Big billboards, Tv trailers etc. That sparks an interest in actually getting their first gaming console with the game to play it.  Of course those that follow the company closely or for the gamers that already know about the company know about rumors and such. Im talking about how they specifially market their game like hollywood does to those that aren't gamers. Thats what I mean. Your confused.

Never read into it. Rockstar will be tweeting, etc the day before they announce anything.

I actually didn't sign up for anything. Like I said, I didn't even attempt to win the key. I didn't want to rush through the game I'd waited years for. Needless to say I'll be the same for VI

It's probably nothing but yeah looking at their previous posts it does seem unusual considering there would only be a 4 day gap at the most between their posts.

Oh dang here comes the R* triple dip. I wont doubt that. Strauss gonna have a sh*t eating grin once he tells the investors that they have something lined up for the next gen console by R*. And he without a doubt announce its RDR2 and not a new title. Trying to be in good graces with the investors unlike the last call.

Oh man Bully 2, I still remember when the concept arts for it got ''leaked''. Not sure it they were true or not, but if it was, it's nice to see the game would still follow the style of the original ( Uknown year somewhere between 90-00's, goofy characthers that are pretty much stereotypes ) I hope the game will see the light one day.

It could be set between Max Payne 2 and 3 to fill in the gaps on what happened during that time. I know we got a mission in Max Payne 3 but they could set it before that mission and maybe make the ending the lead up to that mission.

That would just be a QTE based game of drinking oceans of alcohol and popping painkillers left and right. At least according to Max Payne 3, Max had to fulfill his cliché and drink himself to death except that didn't quiet work out so well. He got a good ending in MP3. I'd say Max Payne trilogy is finished properly, no need to touch it again.

It's time for Rockstar to make a new IP or NY Noire set in 70s New York.

Idk man there was a nine year time gap. I'm sure he did more than sit on his ass and drink during those 9 years. R* could easily write and fit in a story during that period that doesn't screw it up.
