GTA V had that special ability to make every character there is unlikeable. I'm serious, I can't think of a single likeable character. They all suck.

While saying they all suck might have been a bit much, I don't find them interesting enough to like them. Most of them are too over the top annoying or lack personality. Even the antagonists. In the end Lester's personality made him more of an antagonist to me than Devin Weston or Stretch or that chinese dude.

 

Also, as far as I'm concerned "nostalgia" would be me saying "I LOVE IT" about something that wasn't all that great.

Trevor is just genius and the best GTA protagonist because he is the personification of the anarchic heart of Grand Theft Auto and the vile things we commit in free roam. He essentially removed ludonarrative dissonace from GTA.

Personally I would prefer new characters. Looking at how they treated IV characters in V... makes me feel like they where some bums or some complete strangers.

Johnny Klebitz, Gay Tony, the black biker, Michelle from the FIB... all felt different and poorly made...

Bring some fresh meat to the table please.

I remember him finding the diamonds at the the end IV (TBoGT). However, it would be surprising if he still had those two businesses running some 12 years later. It would be funny if he spent his entire wealth on stupid stuff and we ended up meeting him as a stranger type mission in VI and he went back to his hobo life on the streets of Vice City.

To me GTA V characters feel like Rockstar wanted all main characters (not protagonists) to be douchebags.

Devin Weston - douchebag

Dave Norton - one, pretty normal guy

Lester Crest - they could kinda mix Kelso from Heat and Benji from Mission Impossible and instead of this we know what we got...

Martin Madrazo - he definitely needs more attention in GTA VI.

Exactly, they intentionally wrote the characters to be unlikeable douches, and they succeed at that.

Gta v story works as a satire both for america and gta games, but as the story for itself? it's avereage at best

As some posts and threads have already stated, the last GTA's were kind of "one step forward & two back"

 

With all that development time since the last one plus it being on consoles that can handle much more, do you guys think or expect VI to be the "ultimate game"?

With all the features from previous titles, enterable interiors in every street and even much new stuff to do?

 

How high do you think the chances are?

I don't hate GTA V, I like it but in my opinion it's full of bad decisions. Notice how even Rockstar said before RDR 2 was released, that they hope that people will like single-player mode in RDR 2. Result? Many people love it (35 million copies sold and still counting).

Chances? I think 0 as the focus will shift more and more towards online. Of course it will surpass V but probably it won't be as detailed as I wish it were. My ultimate GTA would have multiple cities, average story (I think a Vice City level of simple story is fine), one well developed protagonist, interiors, car customization, a living, breathing world, purchasable properties and plenty of side activities.

Personally I don't understand this "one step forward & two back". For me GTA IV was the best thing, that could happen to GTA because Rockstar has focused on what I think is really most important, basics. They improved shooting, driving, flying, physics, collisions, animations, wanted system, melee, Liberty City is still most alive city in GTA games and story also made big step forward.
