This is all I'll say on the matter. But attitudes like these are basically saying "Hey I know black people are being racially abused, and being killed, but I don't care, video games are more important to me."

We can continue this logic. They shut down the servers when the memorial takes place. They do it for respect which doesn't imply that they're about to save the world. This is their way of respect, as a gaming studio.

Hmm I'm not too sure about that one. Especially when Rockstar themselves are addressing it and are making an effort to bring it to the forefront.

 

I get it though. Some posters are making themselves look really out of touch right now, so we probably should just drop it before it gets worse.

I mean, Call of Duty has never competed with BF lol. Battlefield is large scale land, sea, air and infantry combat where as CoD's bread and butter is small team infantry combat. Very different shooters despite often being set in the same time periods. Call of Duty also exploded in popularity on last gen consoles where as Battlefield's popularity on consoles only really arrived with the current gen consoles as the 360/PS3 weren't capable of handling the player counts.

 

But anyway, I dunno what good "competition" would do a Rockstar game tbh. They do what they wanna do, I don't think we'd see something like more interiors in GTA just cause there was some competition. It's not like they've not had some form of competition in the past either.

I'd argue Battlefields popularity exploded on PS3/360, actually. In terms of consoles. It's always, and always will be a PC game. But it was Battlefield 3 which launched the series to where it is today. You could even argue it was Battlefield: Bad Company 2 that really set it up. The PS3/360 versions were significantly reduced in terms of player count, map sizes, etc. But that's still where it got popular.
