When you read his last few interviews, especially the one in which he talked about how difficult it's to write satire in the current state of politics, I think it has more to do with him dodging a potential scenario in which some of his writing could offend somebody and then a whole media campaign is launched against him. It's not like Grand Theft Auto hasn't already been labeled many things (one example), but now the views, according to Houser, have become more extreme. Maybe he simply walked away thinking that it'd more peaceful to live away from all of this. After all he did say that he would love to not worry about the game anymore. It's a dream come true!

Watch Dogs comes close but It'll never be GTA. Developers have just decided to add open world elements to their games instead of making a GTA competitor which sucks. You got games that would usually be linear with no business being open world becoming open world games now. I'm also surprised that aside from the Scarface game that came out in 2006 no other developer has tried to recapture the magic of 1980's Miami I think it's a sign out of respect for R*.

 

I'd love to see EA, Activision, and whoever actually make a GTA competitor. Does it have to be R* quality? No but they should aim for something like it or better yet do their own thing.

Right I think they feel they wouldn’t be able to make anything as great as VC was.

Since 2012? Fat ass chance, when V missed its release date and was pushed back a total of 10 months.

 

Rockstar Games might "think" about future titles, but they never commit any resources until a previous game is complete and released. There's never such urgency to begin full scale work on a successive title, if their incumbent title is not yet released.

 

I hate most of these idiot bloggers and twits putting out BS info. Save for my marketing budget gaffes the other day, I try to be accurate.

None of the GTA protagonists have been really attractive since 3D era Claude and Tommy. Niko was unremarkable, Shawn and Steven Ogg look better than their characters on screen. The other characters look like 3D crap or were 2D.

 

Claude was done well and likely borrowed from the likeness of 1999's Claude Speed, Scott Maslen. RDR/2 quite randomly has people in olden times looking better than modern day characters in GTA. 

 

Feels like it's deliberate with GTA, because of the nature of the game. Don't use a pretty boy or you risk glorifying senseless violence in real life, like Hollywood does. And intimidating sexually insecure men.

With a heavy American presence. A lot of their first party studios are here, the people in charge of their playstation division are based here, and their largest market is here.

I have read book a couple months ago about this, GTA 3 was set to be released short after 9/11 but got postponed because R* wanted to modify some things. Police cars from blue became black so they looked less like NYPD cars, the twin towers got deleted or replaced (I'm not sure on this one), the Dodo plane handling files where modified so it became really hard to fly it, they also chopped off the wings and removed some missions where you had to fly it

That looks at Sony as a whole from all of it's divisions. The TV, Camera, Music, etc. Not just their playstation division if you were to look at the playstation division by itself those numbers would look much different.

Preach it to the choir. People got to understand, that there is a wait and see phase with virtually all product lines. I work in automobiles and we don't just start development on the next gen model, once a new generation is released.

 

We study the automotive marketplace and how our latest product performs, before initiating further work and/or development on its replacement. Like GTA full production, we commit to final body design and package plan, 2-3 years before Job 1 (factory assembly).

 

Pre-development consists of design work, research, advanced studies, and pre-dev mules in old cars. Running actual prototypes for verification, comes during production development, followed by various other testing, sign-off, pilot builds, Job 1, delivery to car dealers, and then market launch. Sound familiar? Rockstar handles business similarly.

 

Only major titles that didn't have this waiting period in a sizable gap, were GTA VC and and GTA IV. Both were started within weeks of III and SA being released respectively.

 

V wasn't started until shortly before TLAD was released in early 2009. That's what Leslie Benzies said in October 2013. It had only been UNDER 5 years since they initiated GTA V planning.

 

They're not gonna change that wait time and work on it that earlier and so long, but this flies over the head of so many people, especially those under 17 I imagine. One just gives up redirecting them.

 

The GTA series about stealing cars, is now ironically made like an automobile, versus just any regular game. Like a Dodge Challenger, past it's sell by date and incremental, versus immediate efforts made to replace it.

Made another minimap which encourages the player to keep their eyes on what's happening on the screen and less on the minimap.

 

 

Gold: Main way point. Purple: Player-made way point White: Protagonist's interest (E.g. Restaurant if hungry but largely a random point of interest)

 

Individual way points fade or increase in colour depending on the proximity of destination.
