To be honest it didn't enter my mind that it would be cancelled, but now that it is, I understand the reasons. Even if it's a PR move, sometimes you know it just ain't the right time to be putting on a happy face to sell a product. 2020 is a sh*tshow and there have been so many lives lost, people are angry and hurting, and rightly so. We don't need to get into a political slanging match in a speculation thread about GTA, it's not like this event won't be rescheduled, so take a breather and put it all into perspective.

Only good thing about 2020 so far seems to be the preacher and his preaching, if he's legit ( which I assume he is considering the dedicated sub forum, staff support, ''cult'' following ) maybe we won't wait for too long until some sort of announcement? I mean, I just believe it would be ridiculous to hype up something for quite a bit just for it to lead to nothing or start to hype up something too early if we will get an announcement in say 2021-2022, it would be the trolling at it's finest sure, but still.  

 

Anyways, whatever comes out of it, I do enjoy reading it regardless, I really really dig the effort.

Regardless of your opinions on the current events, which I'm not asking anyone to share in this particular thread, politics have been a part of gaming since forever, whether that's development, writing, promotional, playing, whatever. Politics has a huge role in all entertainment and always has so it's no surprise when the events in the USA right now are influencing marketing decisions in the games industry.

Hmm not phased by that Sony PS5 postponement. This is not the place to talk about politics either way, we can find other mediums to discuss that. Theres a reason I come here to escape that. OF course we dont turn a blind eye at the situation.  We know what is going on, again But this place sure stays impartial and sound.  Come guys I want to stick to the conversation. 

 

 Anyways, I was thinking the other day. IF R* sticks to release this game a few years after the next gen launch, wouldn't the current build be a bit too early to really see the potenial of what the consoles bring. Of course they will build on what they have, but that content could be dated.

That doesnt mean the ps5 just bliped out of existence or that the event wont happen soon,but a major console reveal right now and especifically on june 4(a memorial for george floyd will happen this thursday),would take attention away from this issue.

Im still excited for the ps5 reveal but i can wait a few weeks.

And im glad Sony did this even if its just a brand and yada yada yada.

And for those claiming that this is a US only issue,there are protests for george floyd all over the world right now,this didnt affect only the US.

I love this place, and it's the longest community I've been a part of. But GTA fans can be the worst fans, in my experience. Perhaps learn some empathy. Video games aren't going anywhere. You'll just have to wait a little longer. And as usual, it should go without saying. No, GTA VI won't be announced at this event.

I agree with you but we live in a crazy world and if company’s do this every single time there is an unjust death/murder.  Then they should do it everyday.  And not focus on whatever narrative the media is pushing.

True, and even the politics in Grand Theft Auto is purely satirical and doesn't attempt to push an agenda, or take a decisive stance on any subject. It's just there to make a mockery out of everybody and I like it.

It's less to do with George's death, and the events that followed in the wake. Every time there is an unjust death, major riots and protests like these don't happen too often. This is kind of a boiling point. And honestly, it's kinda more important.

I really love that you guys don't support sonys move. If you go on twitter and Reddit everybody keeps saying the same stuff: congratulations sony you did the right thing etc.

 

Its bs in my opinion. Don't get me wrong i think what happened to Mr Floyd was one of the worst acts of violence i ever seen on video. When i first watched it i was feeling sick for 30 minutes and i hope his soul rests in peace and of course i hope the killer gets the punishment he deserves.

 

But what does playstation have to do with it? We had an atrocious year so far. 2019 for me was the best year Personally, financially, everything.

 

2020 is literally like the Armageddon.... And we need something to occupy our minds, something to get excited about. And the one thing that could make people happier this week gets postponed.

It's just for appearances. People care. But people care more about 'showing' they care. That's why there are these protests and riots, fueled by the collapsing economy, people found an excuse to let loose. Some are genuinely expressing their feelings, while others are taking advantage of the situation. sh*t happens everytime and everywhere, and companies postponing or delaying stuff, is just meaningless. What we need is leadership and reform, not delays in video game announcements.

We find escape and peace in these video games, its a sign of a better world, when people come together and create art. But it's such bullsh*t to see this happening, it's not like we don't understand the gravity of the situation.

I hear this kind of arguement everytime news about police brutality blows up in the news and personally i think its a big lie.

Its not possible to put your head in the sand everytime sh*t hits the fan.

You're damn lucky if your life is good enough to avoid most of these problems but millions of people out there cant just ignore it.

That includes many people that work inside the entertainment industry(Sony,Microsoft,Nintendo).

The silver lining here is that the EVENT IS STILL HAPPENING.

I think you all are missing the point here... why let something that you can’t control or change in anyway.  Effect how everyday business is done.  Let the media brainwash your mind into thinking that George Floyd is the only person that has been a victim of the horrible things this world offers. (Hopefully the mod doesn’t remove this post too, because for some reason my opinion doesn’t count)
