I always speculated VI to launch in either fall 2022 or 2023 and I guess any reasonable person would've expected the same.

Schreier is being an absolute moron, VI launch in 2-3 years is expected but he made it sound like somethung like 5 years and now he's talking horsesh*t. Final stages of game development, QA testing, optimizing takes time which is now being affected by this goddamn pandemic.

If the marketing budget really is for GTA6 (certainly looks like it) I guess COVID-19 has prompted them to delay the project internally. Remember folks, one of vital aspects of game development is impossible in this pandemic, performance capture.

I think there is no need to spend this amount on PR GTA VI. Hundreds of millions of players already understand what this series of games is and any crumbs of information about the new part will be instantly distributed to hundreds of thousands of gamers and fans.websites. for this series.  But another thing is if they release some other game and then it will be necessary to throw money into the PR of an unknown project.

When does the marketing phase start out? Isn't it 6-8 months before a game releases? If that's the case then things could be ever worse, it could release in FY2025.

this is take two they have other game companies could be something else .

 

do i suspect it could be gta 6 gta is the biggest franchise they have so quiet likely . 

i thought 2023 but 2024 would be taking the piss but s thats reality. 

am not shocked if that is the gap is true rdr 2 was one of the biggest games of this gen . 

gta 6 will be just as big dont think rockstar are going to make a smaller game after rdr 2 on next  gen.

Jason Schreier is a reputable source but imo he is extremely defensive. He is always trying to sound like he is the "right", and everybody else is wrong.

Just my thoughts, but perhaps Schreier is very defensive because he has confidence in what he's reported on.
This is someone who has had contact with multiple Rockstar Employees, in the recent months, that are likely working on GTA VI. Are there any other known sources with ties to Rockstar Employees that have refuted his claims? (Genuine question)
I think a lot of the hate to Schreier comes from people thinking "he's" delayed GTA VI. When in fact he's just the messenger and people's personal beliefs seem to clash against his reporting. There was some concerns with his definition of the word "early", but the way I see it is that the game is not past it's halfway cycle (let's say 2.5 years), so it's probably got at least another 3 years to go before it's released.  
What he's tweeted today was, in my opinion, a mistake. This information is far too recent and flexible to make any concrete comments on. But I can't really fault the guy, being a journalist on twitter means you're open to criticism and he does read through the replies to see it, just turns out some of those replies involve slurs and unnecessary hatred that likely make him frustrated with this specific topic. Leading to why he was so quick to tweet today and call out those people.

Yan has sources. Jason isn't the only guy with exclusive sources.
