GTA 6 Speculation & Discussion [Part 4]

I don't think any T2 title is worth that much. But then again it doesn't mean they will spend it all in one place right? It could be a budget for several different titles. But what could be coming if we are crossing out GTA? Mafia 4 and Civilization 7 looks unlikely and so does Borderlands 4, RDR 3 and Max Payne 4. The remaining titles are XCOM, BioShock, NBA 2K, WWE 2K and maybe a few new IPs (2 or 3 at most in my opinion). Are they worth that much in terms of marketing?

a 2023/2024 release seems likely, afterall they released RDR2 after GTAV and game development for rockstar takes longer than back in the days, but who knows maybe there is still a chance for a 2022 release

 

i just hope gtavi will deliever and surpass GTA SA, for me personally gta sa is still the best gta but i hope gtavi can surpass it and take the number one spot

That much? GTA V had 130 mln $ marketing budget. By the way, 2023 is another thing which will haunt us for some time.

So now my opinion which i said a few times makes sense remastering GTAV ((again)) for next gen with story mode DLC! and i hope they will fix f*cking loading screens and potato servers for online too!
Any game before GTA VI? I hope yes
Bully2 ? MP4? new IP? or f*cking nothing only one game per decade

For a game that's been gone since 2004 and the most popular sport in the US. Yes. 2k signed a deal with the NFL in March but it was for a non simulation game an arcade game which sucks and it seems like EA is getting an extension to their license with the NFL which also blows.

 

I hope whatever 2k is working on with the NFL can get around the "simulation" sh*t that EA has exclusive rights to.

i think rockstar should atleast say something about gta6 like a announcement/teaser would probably be enough, even if its a couple years away but they probably want to announce it 2 years before release

T2 is supposed to release a lot of new I.P's in the next 5 years , and honestly i don't see them giving a new I.p that much marketing budget whatever it is , it's definitely a game from an major existing franchise

Among 90 titles you think they can't be from other 2K big titles? Mafia, Bioshock, the sports games... All combined could very well be 90 million for marketing.

It's rather bunch of games than one game.

New IP's require extra marketing and Take-Two are investing in that area if memory serves so it could very well be new IP's. Not many of Take-Two's studios have great brand recognition to get that easy, cheap word of mouth attention either and even Rockstar who do have it have always went all out on marketing, GTA V, RDR2 and IV have had marketing campaigns equivelant to Hollywood blockbusters of their times.

 

But yea, it could be multiple projects, it could be one big one but it feels like too small a jump for GTA VI. Remember, Take-Two aren't shy of funding and publishing projects from outside studios, like Borderlands 3, The Outer Worlds, etc.

I am around 100% sure that Mafia 4 won't be happening anytime soon. Hangar 13's Czech division is working on the remaster right now and there are rumors that they are assigning the franchise to a new studio after that because of Mafia 3.

I personally think it's always been highly unrealistic to expect it sooner than 2023. Rockstar have taken longer and longer with each game they release. Under what pretence do we suddenly expect them to have sped up?

 

I think people are too invested in measuring the time between GTAs rather than time between games. The studios all work on a single massive project now, they're not juggling multiple projects anymore. Aside from maintaining the online stoof.

Come on, according to the data announced in May 2019, $78.1 million would be used in F23. According to new data, the F23 budget was set at $40.9 million. In May 2019, a $24.6 million budget was allocated for the F24. However, according to new data, this budget has been tripled and was determined  as $89.2 million. It doesn’t make sense to postpone 3-4 games at the same time. It makes more sense for a big game to be postponed.

I think other studios just chip in a little while the main studio does ~90% of the work. So it didn't matter much that R* San Diego was working on RDR 2 because R* North was handling GTA VI (if it was already development at that time). Anyways 2023 seems like a year they could start teasing or maybe release a trailer for GTA VI.

This is from March. But if it returns you bet they're going to sink a lot of money into this. The series hasn't been around since 2004 (Yes there was all pro football 2k8 but that didn't use the NFL license.)

The key art director, producers and programmers on RDR 2 were at Rockstar North. If there was a lead studio on RDR 2, it was actually North.

Correct. Rockstar San Diego if anything may have begun work on RDR2, but it was directed by the North guys. Some GTA names were missing from the credits so those people may have been doing GTA VI. And of course there's the contributions from the rest of the studios.

if the tweet about the marketing money for T2 is legit, i think its safe to assume we wont get an official announcement for gta 6 earlier than 2021 maybe, with gta 6 getting released for the next-gen-consoles in 2023/2024 (or 2025, you know, typical R* delay)

 

if we are lucky R* will say sth like "gta 6 is in full development" before 2021
