not if they announce that it's only coming to the next gen consoles...people will still buy GTA V...I mean the only game that will be 2 generation game will be RDR 2 unless they plan to scrap it completely

Just remember that GTA V is literally the highest grossing piece of entertainment of all time.... and the player base has been larger in the last few months than any time since the PC release. I definitely expect another Online DLC announcement before we get a GTA Next announcement. Maybe with City Morgue over the summer? Then VI announcement in October?

Not as much, because RDR released in 2010, and although MP3 was announced in 2009, there barely was anything until its news peak in 2011-12.

I don't think so.. I have a feeling it won't be Mafia.

It's "only" a remaster of the two first games and the Mafia 3... It's not really a game reveal.

Geoff said that its something cool and fun. Cool and fun is different from earth shattering / game changing / bone cracking announcement.

 

Plus don't forget that the May 12th announcement is a project that NEEDS Geoff as an "ambassador" and a conduit for the announcement. Huge franchises have their own following and pages so they don't need Geoff . Especially Rockstar. Rockstar could announce Gta Vi inside a cereal box as a gift. It would still be viral. That's the kind of power they have.

 

So yeah lower your expectations as much as possible for Geoffs announcement.

To be honest, every game is cool and fun. I've never cried over Mafia, Silent Hill and Resident Evil. All of them were pretty cool and fun to play.

True and we also have Cyberpunk , Wasteland 3 , Watch Dogs , AC and more .

 

But for me every one of those games are just the first "plate" before the tasty huge heavenly dish that is Gta Vi.

While I agree with your overall point. I'm not sure I do entirely. GTA V's marketing didn't really begin until spring (May) 2013. One year after MP3 had released. Maybe I'm arguing semantics, but even though they did technically overlap, their marketing didn't.

The basis of a site renewal on May 12th, falling on the same date as Summer Games Fest has absolutely no correlation with one another. Entirely coincidental. There will NOT be an announcement anytime soon (by summer), otherwise we would’ve had it already.

Just checked the psn total sales for April . Gta V was the most successful game claiming the no.1 spot once again.. Even beating FF 7 remake . 

 

They really dont need for a financial standpoint to release a new game anytime soon..

That's true but when the next gen becomes the "default" gen (around 2 - 3 years after their release so 2022 - 2023) players will probably stop getting the game or even worst they might be burned/oversaturated with Gta online. So we should be getting something before 2024 for sure imo.
