The Time Ranger
It's quite a broad genre, from comedies to dramas and everything in between. The characters from these films are mainly young, from childhood, up to the teenage years all the way to the 20's. It's a relatable subject matter, we all age, and we all have those moments where things changed and suddenly we grew up a little more. Some favourites of mine are as follows. Stand by me is a classic of the genre, based on a work by Steven King, it follows a group of young friends as they go on an adventure and learn about life, friendship and growing up. It's themes are timeless and it has it all, from drama to funny moments, just like life itself. The wanderers is one of my favourite films, it follows a Teenage gang in the 1960's Bronx and their friendships and romances as all the while gang conflict rumbles in the background. It has a seminial rock and roll soundtrack, engrossing characters and has themes such as growing up and the changing of times, it's a transitionary time for these characters, both in their lives and in the culture, the 50's are over and it's influence and ideals are fading, and the counter culture 60's are on their way. What will become of The Wanderers? Lonely-Martin, Mister Pink, OREOBOREALIS and 1 other
Mister Pink
I'm a sucker for coming of age films. I didn't know it for a long time but when I did a count of films with that as a main theme, it seemed there were a good few I enjoy and Stand By Me is one of them for sure. That was one of my favourite films growing up. I watched it when I was probably too young but then a few times as an adult and just think it's a solid film. There are so many of them but some that I enjoy that could be classed in that genre: Boyz N The Hood Mid 90's The Breakfast Club Badlands Almost Famous. One I that I loved, used to come on TV when I was younger. Caught it twice, just on TV back when I would watch TV years ago and a film might just come on. American Graffiti. It's got Ron Howard and Harrison Ford (one of Ford's first films) Edited April 6, 2020 by Mister Pink scorseses, Lonely-Martin, The Time Ranger and 2 others 5 𝙼𝚄𝚂𝙸𝙲 𝙽𝙾𝙽 𝚂𝚃𝙾𝙿

I'm really excited for what he can do next. Listened to his interview on Maron about 5 years ago. He seems like a very likable and passionate person. If wannabe writer/director could make a film like Mid 90's as their debut, they would be flying. The Time Ranger 1 𝙼𝚄𝚂𝙸𝙲 𝙽𝙾𝙽 𝚂𝚃𝙾𝙿

Lonely-Martin
Some wonderful favourites already mentioned, so I'll not repeat those, but I do love many above. One movie I believe fits this thread is both the 1990 Stephen King's It, and remakes of late, maybe more so in part one, but I feel it was why the length of the movies weren't an issue for me having see some criticism of the newest Part Two. I find Stephen King movies can tap into this well, as mentioned with Stand By Me above too. Also, I feel there's plenty of slasher movies that could also fit here, stuff like Friday the 13th, Halloween or Scream maybe, teen flicks really although probably more 'date night' movies too. Friday (Ice Cube), or American Pie also, the former being easily one of my favourite movies ever, only watched the Friday trilogy this week too! (Although we've watched so much this last month, lol). RARusk
Isn't the newly released Licorice Pizza supposed to be a coming of age film? Mister Pink 1 "One day I will think of this as just another job. After all, this is what I do."

It's one of those films that's got that writer/director vision all over it. Soundtrack is sublime too. And the reviews are mostly positive. Looking forward to it. I'll catch it on the big screen. OREOBOREALIS 1 𝙼𝚄𝚂𝙸𝙲 𝙽𝙾𝙽 𝚂𝚃𝙾𝙿
