Despite that, I'm nearing the end of the hiring process for a bus operator position in my hometown, but it's now on hold due to COVID-19. Ah well, maybe by end of year? I don't really have the confidence for most customer facing jobs and I applied for both my cleaning jobs at the same time just to shut the jobcentre up, then I got both jobs in the same month. Had them both since 2012. I'm currently off one of them because the staff where I clean are working from home because of the corona, and i was supposed to go to my other one today as a 'key worker' but there was nobody to let me in the office so I phoned my manager who said it was fine to just go home instead. paperbagdude Posted April 3, 2020 Share Posted April 3, 2020 (edited) Currently working for a recruitment agency that offers me work at various companies, but most of the job offers these days are at the potato factory, sorting potatoes, packing potatoes, cleaning up potatoes, being a potato. You name it. I used to work as a technical assistant/caretaker/janitor at Legoland Hotel & Conference in Billund. My job was to set up conferences, perform repairs and maintenance in the rooms and facilities and other miscellaneous tasks around the Legoland accommodations (two hotels and one campsite + cabin village) and the Legoland resort. Sadly lost the job back in August, cause I was too slow to make up my mind and renew my contract in time. Still miss it dearly. JON22 Posted April 3, 2020 Share Posted April 3, 2020 I wanted to be a forklift truck driver because of Shenmue but I barely passed the course (wasn't very good at lining up the forks with the pallets and bent the bottom of those metal gates that cover door exits from the inside when turning), and every job I applied for required experience. Another thing I love about it, is the fact I work 10 hour shifts, 4 days on 3 days off. Which gives me a decent amount of free time. I didn’t study anything specifically to land here, just had a ton of passion and knowledge about the industry. The advice you’ll always hear is to do something you enjoy - while that is true, I’d also suggest that as you get older, you focus on the things that you’re knowledgeable about and good at. Luckily I do not work inside some elderly home residence or hospital. Instead I do ambulant care , which means I visit my patients at their homes. The two members of staff were taking the piss out of some old lady's bits because of the odour the minute they walked out of her home. Never went back after that.
