I believe the game will only be next gen. Think of RDR2, current consoles can barely hold it.

GTA 6 comes out around 2023 when PS5 is two years old, so why would any developer think that a two year old console generation doesn't have enough players? "Sure the PS5 has been out couple of years, but let's release the game on PS4 anyway"

Some interesting points to that one, releasing on the current platforms make more sense for profit as if they are waiting on the new system id say they will wait the 2 or 3 years till more systems have been brought and money will be the bottom line at the end of the day, im not saying the post is legit by any means but some interesting points, dev kits were meant to given only about 2 years ago.

I hope this isn’t true, otherwise I’ll be very pissed off. After 7 years they cannot make any compromises on the graphics, at least it has to be as good as RDR2’s one. Also what are those names, Escobar Island, Beach City... they don’t seem legit names in any way.

If what she says is true, they need to release GTA 6 this year and that ofcourse is not gonna happen. The game will probably be released in 2021/2022 at the earliest, so then it just doesn't make sense to release it on current gen when next-gen is already out for 1/2 years.

Yeah, exactly! I don’t know if she’s legit, but if this is real, then the situation is f***d up... I mean R* is known for the high quality of their games and compromises are not acceptable, unless they’re focusing to build a world to be used mainly in GTA Online, which is even worse.

Next gen consoles being backwards compatible makes the argument in favor of making cross gen games stronger. Just a current gen game with some added bells and whistles for next gen patch or a separate next gen release with more mechanics and a stripped down current gen release. 

 

I hope it doesn't happen but most 3rd party devs probably would make cross gen games even in 2022. Rockstar would probably want to make GTA6 next gen but we don't know how much Take Two has a say in it. Proper early next gen games would be the exclusives and Star Citizen (f*ck knows when it will come out lol).

 

Microsoft is taking about supporting the damn pos OG Xbox One even in 2021-'22. Bloody hell, I mean who wants to play a game designed for a godforsaken outdated console in 2021 huh?
