but it just shows how Rockstar Games can make masterpieces games when they want and learn from their mistakes

I don't think we need a video to conclude that. Almost every Rockstar game is a masterpiece. And they rarely make any mistakes, really, their games are carefully balanced and handcrafted to the perfection.

I think first GTA 6 trailer won't even have a release date at the end

Both 4's and 5's first trailers didn't have release date specified

And we’re gonna be thrusted into an 8 month long drought right afterwards

style of retro futurism

I believe that big developers of series nowadays are too scared to pull such moves. With years GTA will more and more become blunt, as customers needs. They so much turned down all innovativeness with V, making it usual and simple, familiar to everyone. Not that much people even want a new city from a ground, they need Vice City.

To add they want Vice City in 80's, again.

It depends on the goal.

The goal for V was to let the people play the singleplayer modus for a while and then to switch to online modus.

If you imply this point it´s true. They reached this balance to perfection.:)

It´s all about to pull the money out of the kids(mums) pocket.lol In this case with sharkcards.

And the game itself is not without mistakes, of course.

https://www.thegamer.com/ridiculous-mistakes-gta-5-true-fans-notice/

But it´s nontheless a masterpiece.

You can adapt an engine if you want to make something new. The limits with engines are the same limits with games; time, resources, technology and the hardware. To put it very simply, Rockstar can blow all our minds with GTA VI with RAGE.

I don't expect anything less. Especially after this time of Development and RDR2 as a Testmule.

I can’t get my hands on actual development costs but if I had to guess it would have cost a lot more money to develop and produce RDR2 than it would have cost to develop and produce GTA 5.

Among all the views listed in the website I agree with Pachter the most even though I despise him.

GTAV had a much more robust marketing campaign than RDR2, also over 200 licensed songs in GTAV didn't come without pretty penny.

RDR2s budget imo is most likely lower than GTAV and RDR2 brought in roughly over 1.5 billion dollars I think. Only downside is RDO doesn't have the traction of GTAO.

The devs are getting more time to work with due to covid. It might bring a better and more polished game at the end.

With what happened with The Last Of Us Part II, now I'm almost completely sure the GTA VI trailer was delayed because of the covid-19 emergency.

Not necessarily because of delays in development, as you can clearly drop a teaser now and then stay silent for a year, but mostly because it is just bad timing for announcing something this big.

Rockstar will presumably want to cash-in with the preorders, and not many people would do that in this moment.

There's also the fact that people are distracted because of much more serious things, therefore less incline to create buzz around GTA VI.

The plot might have been more interesting in the past, but our time is much more convenient for online.

I just can't fathom the fact why people modern era is so much more convenient for online than 80s or 90s. It's not like we're using flying bikes or jetpacks in real life. Rockstar can and will do anything batsh*t crazy in online to make it streamlined for casuals and more attractive. The hand catalogue of RDO is the example of this. It's absolutely ridiculous of any time period but it works, right?

Also the plot depends on writing quatilty, not the era it's set in. If era dictated quality then Breaking Bad would not be this good.

RDR 2 budget was way higher than GTA V one, there is no doubt about it.

There is not official confirmation and not any proper indication to say that outright.

They could just drop a reveal trailer without opening the preorders. It would generate a huge hype and after this corona crap is finally over they can release a gameplay trailer and open the preorders.

There is, way longer development time and way more people involved. It did cost Rockstar "barely" 265 million $ to make GTA V including marketing.

TLoU II was delayed for logistical reasons. A GTA VI announcement wouldn't face those issues. There's no reason an announcement couldn't be handled from home. I imagine it'd still be difficult, but IF it were meant to be announced (And I seriously doubt it is meant to be announced until next year) COVID-19 wouldn't cancel those plans outright. Especially not for a game which wouldn't be scheduled to release until next year, anyway.

By the way, anyone remember this?

2 days before RDR 2 announcement.

That was posted right after the first RDR2 tease came.

Yes, but it is still bad timing.

I can totally see Rockstar being cautious with the timing of the announcement, up to the very small details.

For his last completed project, Houser was holed up in an office wallpapered with Post-it Notes containing the names of people, places and story elements, according to the New Yorkmagazine article. At one point, they completely obscured the windows. The resulting game, Red Dead Redemption 2, is a Western brought to life. It puts players in the boots of an outlaw who starts gunfights and performs locomotive heists on horseback as the world’s frontiersmen go about their unique daily routines. “If we’d known how much work it was going to be, then maybe we’d have backed off,” Houser told GQ in 2018, “but once we committed, we were like, ‘We’ve got to make this work.’” Game critics rate it among the 10 best video games, along with the last two Grand Theft Autos.

Not surprising, we're already waiting longer than we were waiting for RDR 2 announcement.

Actually you are right. RDR was launched in 2010, RDR2 was announced in 2016 (6 years) and released in 2018 (8 years).

GTA V was launched in 2013. So almost 7 years without a single teaser.

as I said yesterday I am not expecting an announcement until June at the earliest. and keep an eye on R*'s social medias in case they start changing the images on there hinting about an announcement

I honestly think GTA takes longer to create than RDR and that's why we haven't gone with a teaser for so long. however...my gut says that the announcement is soon. It's only a matter of time.

True, RDRII took 7 years to make, and this game is set in the far west with small towns and lot of nature, where GTA have cities and developed countrysides with many towns, road systems, farms and others. I am expecting a good 8 years to make this game, they probably started around 2015-2017.

What if Project Americas leak was true and because of it they cancelled the entire game and started making a totally new and different one from a scratch?

This would explain why it's taking them so long xD

Also you got to take into consideration that whatever the next rockstar game is going to be, will be primarily developed based on the next generation console’s hardware.

Rdr2 was the only game rockstar developed from scratch for the PS4 and Xbox one. Red dead 1, gta 5 and 4 were created for last gen, with gta 5 being ported over to current gen in 2014 with a few upgrades of course (And obviously pc but they were all ports too)

But still my point is that R* have a lot more power to work with for their next game, hence why it should take longer to develop

Since all Rockstar employees are working from home, surely that means the playtesters are too? Which means that somewhere out there, someone is already playing GTA VI right in their home. A buggy, non-finished build that crashes all the time, most likely, but still GTA VI. What a privilege. (I realize that the same could be said about the regular devs, but what I mean is the people who's sole task is to play the game and report stuff.)

There is multiple things in this leak that makes it not very credible. When I read it, the "4 playable character" part convinced me that it was probably made up...

It's just weird that Rockstar out of nowhere liked a photo from the account of nbaoncourt where LeBron James has the cover of Vice City on his table.

It’s weird the developer of GTA liked a photo where Lebron James has a copy of Vice City on the table? YA, that’s totally weird beyond belief.
