Then there are times I hunt and fish. Role-playing in this game, with everything functioning right and all the NPCs and wildlife and random events spawning well, is about the best there is across all genres at the moment, in my opinion. My husband is reckless with his horses, runs them into and off of every tree or cliff he can find so I have to be very lenient with him, but he does a better job of not shooting npc horses than I do. It seems my problem is that I love riding up beside them and blasting the npc off the horse with the shotgun, and sometimes I miss my mark and end up getting them both. So I can't be too unhappy with him. I'll admit to cringing when I have to destroy the wagons though, those poor carriage horses. I have to add sometimes I ride my wifes horse, she hates it if I go too close to cliff edges, or take Cough shortcuts down semi rugged terrain Women help us be better men Direwrath, kcole4001, hugh750 and 1 other

It's funny, I mute the music in a majority of games I play for feeling too artificial and overbearing to the action at hand. If you narrow it down to similar open-world roleplaying games then RDO stands alone in having the music on, it just feels organic and complimentary in a way I rarely find elsewhere. For the most part I agree, except for the odd dissonant noise I usually hear around Annesburg. That doesn't fit at all, I find it quite annoying. RDO's 'GPS' is notorious for sending you on ridiculous routes designed to time-sponge your game play. Sometimes the GPS is spot-on, but there's a lot of benefit to learning new terrain/routes, and that carries risk (rocky, sloped terrain especially). lol Last night I was dodging dense trees trying to run over turkeys for the daily challenge. There are times when I gulp down an antique alcohol bottle and minty big game so I can "hug/fall/slide" down a cliff and save myself a fair amount of time. 8-D Makes a good evasion tactic when fighting lawmen and even griefers. IamCourtney
Crossing east to west (or vice versa) over Great Plains is notorious for ridiculously circuitous road routes where the cross-country option is mostly safe and much quicker but has a some sudden and hard to see bluffs and boulders that are just enough to wreck a wagon if you aren't reading your terrain properly on the minimap. Lol, that's true! One of the things I love to do in RDR that many may not do is try to invoke portions of my real life through game play. Many times, it comes with some truly sad consequences. Like when every wagon that I commandeer becomes a moving pile of trash like my Oldsmobile Alero is in real life. I can't say I've ever ridden a non mission-provided wagon for very long but I like to steal those fast two wheeled cart from Saint Denis and ride them off jumps until they're destroyed. For me it always comes down to the horse dying or at least detaching before the cart itself fails. I think it might have been how long I was driving it? I had stolen it near Armadillo and just wandered around with it to see how long I would be able to keep it, heck it made it nearly to Emerald Ranch so that's not too bad. The wagon wheels started to look wobbly after I came out of the Dakota river so maybe the rocks are what did it in? Tourbillon is the name of my silver Turkoman mount. Not because he rides with the ferocity of a whirlwind, but because he has this troubling tendency to spin around in circles when I don't want him to! PabtheFab, FRIDA_KAHLO, Rev. Similar to this: I give my horses the name of historical characters that suit the horse's breed origins. Like Saladin for my 1st Arabian, Curro for my Andalusian, Selyuq for my Turkoman, Anne for my Breton, etc. I do the same with my camp dogs. My char is a former library rat ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Rev.
