Having difficulty using weapons

I'm really horrible at aiming weapons in vice city. I own GTA3 on PC, and had a breaze of a time aiming with the mouse... but now I have the ps2 version of Vice, and cant do a damn thing. Is there something I should know to make it easier on myself? I can't pass that mission where you have to protect diaz from that one gang since I don't know how to shoot down (or up).

When I move the right joystick, it moves the view.. but as soon as I shoot, he will only shoot straight ahead. How can I shoot down at the gang members below?

auto-target the person you want to shoot?

R1 to traget, then R2 or L2 to switch targets.

I think he's having trouble aiming manualy... Well, the two Sniper rifles, M4, Ruger and the Rocket Launcher all have 1st person view when you shoot. Hold R1, abd use the left analog stick to move the crosshair... easy as that :)

Also, im not sure if this is true, but i think i heard somewhere once that, if you practise with shooting manual aim weapons excluding the sniper rifles, if you have a good accuracy rating, then the manual aim weapons actually get better accuracy

But im not sure, i heard it somewhere

I just rented the game... and the manual is missing from it. So I can't look at the manual.

so R1 is auto-target, hey? boy, I feel like an idiot for not knowing that. :sui: Well, thanks.. that should make things a hell of a lot easier.

Crouching (L3) improves accuracy a great deal, man. You should make use of that...
