First or Third Person

While driving, flying, or boating ect... What do you prefer? I prefer first person, I have heard there are advantages to using third person but it feels funny to me! I admit flying in 3rd is easier though.

I prefer to play first person for the immersion factor, but I'll switch to third person if I'm piloting a plane or helicopter during a heist.

The advantages of 3rd person is wider visibility and a better idea of what your car is doing and where it's at. I think the biggest advantage to 1st person driving is a closer view of the road and maybe where the steering wheel is at.

Yes seeing the road is very essential to me. When I'm in 3rd person I feel like the... pivot point? is closer to the rear. As long as you shoot your nose where you want it to go the car will usually follow :)

3rd because I hate the 1st person view in this game.

I only use 1st person for aiming.

I love using 1st person while drive freely.

However, driving some cars like Granger or Dominater makes me feel like I become a little child who stole his parent's car.

Especially, driving the Armored Boxville in 1st person is a nightmare.

3rd person because I'm just used to it going back to GTA III, but if I want a little immersion from time to time I go to first person.

Car chases and aerial attacks are fun in first person, just not sustainable over the long run.

I'm glad we have the option to switch between em. It's an 80/20 situation.

I was wondering today if there was any player that played exclusively 1st person.

I switch to first person when playing Sneaky and Big Con Heists, sneaky feels easier in 1st person to me.

I also switch to 1st person when driving from time to time. Feels relaxing actually.

But I'm mainly a 3rd person user

I always use first person on foot and third person in vehicles and aircraft.

97% of vehicles are horrible to drive/fly in first person because it's a dodgy bolt-on that wasn't originally part of the game. Steering wheels too high/low, dials blocked, dashboard/pillars/roof in the way. The Infernus is the only car I always switch to first person in. SuperVolito and Havok for aerial vehicles, although I wouldn't try landing them.

Same here, the lack of quality, detail and accuracy of the majority of cars interiors forces me to drive them on 3rd person only.

Not only that, but the blurred out mirrors, which are essential for special awareness while driving, is the biggest demotivator for driving in 1st person.

I understand why we don't have those mirrors though, consoles can barely keep a steady 30 fps due to how many crap R* has added to the game, with the mirrors active - even with reduced details and reduced draw distance - the FPS would take a very noticeable impact.

Eh...Maybe with GTA 6 and the next gen consoles they will have all of those issues ironed out.

If it's because of the visible dials, I know a lot of cars that also have them.

Third person with the camera as far away as possible.

First person is very wonky for me. I can't even run around in first person, it's disorienting.

Both. I did the all heists locked in 1st person challenge but it took way too many attempts for what it was worth. People quit at the 1st (no pun intended) sign of 1st. Should be 5 million individually for that challenge and 100 million for CMM done in 1st.

Unfortunatrly 1st person s*cks in GTA V, except in vehicles. You can't even run diagonally (W + Sprint + A or D), a must in any FPS for PC. Not sure about consoles, but on PC you can run FORWARD while pressing SPRINT button + S... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It helps, but it's not the only thing. The driving position is perfect as well, low to the ground and with a decent all round view, you get a real sense of supercar speed. Also it doesn't have that f*cking Banshee interior.

Same thing on consoles, can only sprint forward and to turn you have to use the left analog stick.

And to be honest it makes sense that you can only sprint forward in the game because you can't sprint diagonally...GTA is not a full-blown FPS game and I'm glad it isn't otherwise besides sniper dancers we would have snipers hoppers which is just stupid.

On racing games and sims like Forza etc I will drive first person and get better laptimes this way, but on GTA it does not feel right! it is almost over sensitive to steering input and feels less connected to the road than in 3rd person in my opinion.

Also I guess that it is what im used to since GTA 3, which is also the reason that I use a controller on the pc version.

First person for flying can be immersive. Outside of that I prefer third person for anything else in GTA. I can easily adapt to either viewpoint in any other game, spend hours driving in first person in forza or third person. But the reason I cant in GTA is because the interiors are atrocious and samey and that would completely destroy immersion for me. So I stick to third person. Obviously in a game like Forza all cars have different and very realistic interiors.

They should allow running at least, because on PC you can run in any direction while looking around.

I'd love to use first person for driving if I had a controller. It's the thing you would want for immersion, but seeing the steering wheel move in the way it does when you press buttons just kills it for me
