On your "GTA Underground 4.1.6 75 snapshots in San Fierro and Liberty City" topic, first you posted an update wherein you informed us that out of the total of 25, you were able to find 21 snapshots, and then you shortly let us know that you've managed to discover two more, making it 23 snapshots in total. Please excuse the ecstatic nature of this post, but it cannot be overstated how impressive your results are. You found 8 more snapshots since your last post in this topic and it didn't even take you a full day to find the first 6 of them — I just couldn't help but get excited by the progress you've made! :D This magnificent achievemnt of yours is a massive step for those of us who have been interested in those snapshots for such a long time. After all, I don't think anybody in the community has been THIS close to finding all of the Liberty City snapshots, so hats off to you! Just like dkluin had said, there hasn't been a map for the snapshots in Liberty City ever since this feature has been introduced. It's evident that the community interest regarding this elusive aspect of GTA: Underground is present more than ever before, which leads me to the next point — I think we can work together and resolve this challenge in a way that benefits us both. Up until now, resources on this matter were so scarce that they might as well have been non-existent, but now that you've reignited the spark of curiosity, there's a real chance for us to join forces and produce the results we need this time around. Either way, I'm eager to participate in the hunt for those last 2 remaining snapshots in Liberty City (provided that you haven't gotten around to finding them yet ). I know I am terribly late to the party, but I wish to contribute nevertheless. I took notice of the overwhelming demand for a map, so I took it upon myself to finally create one. You know, I'm something of a treasure hunter myself. I recall attempting to find all the collectibles in the older versions of GTA: Underground too, but the systems I played on are out of reach for me now (meaning that whatever results I have had, I won't be able to retrieve those files any time soon). My current options are limited, so I'm kinda stuck on Snapshot 3.3.11.2 of GTA: Underground at the moment — hence why I opted to post in this topic specifically, rather than the more recent one where version 4.1.6 is explicitly in the title. In the little time I have had, I managed to locate 21 snapshots in Liberty City (using Snapshot 3.3.11.2 of GTA: UG) throughout 13th–15th of February. I apologize for taking so long to share the results. This post has been long overdue and I realize that it isn't gonna make the same impact it probably would have made if it had been released earlier, but I was on a tight schedule most of the time, so given the circumstances, finding spare time proved to be difficult. Still, it's better late than never, I guess. With that out of the way, you'll find the map with those 21 snapshots in the spoiler below: Spoiler Map of Liberty City with the locations of 21 snapshots (as featured in GTA: Underground Snapshot 3.3.11.2): Spoiler Main Version: Spoiler Alternative Version (specifically optimized for snapshot hunting; map opacity dimmed in favor of placing focus on the snapshot markers/map blips): Spoiler For all the other existing versions of the map, visit the following link: https://imgur.com/a/H2DXCgu Index of descriptions for the marked snapshot locations (each one identified and supported with an image): Spoiler TIP: Use the minimap in radar shown on the lower left portion of every image, as well as the marked snapshot locations on the map[s] above to help you pinpoint the position of the snapshots. To aid you in this, I positioned the numbers in the direction from which the snapshots were meant to be taken (e.g. 16 is to be taken as ○←, where '○' represents the snapshot in question, and '←' represents the player looking at/facing the intended direction of the snapshot with a photo camera). Also pay attention to the altimeter (altitude indicator) included to the left of the in-game radar; it denotes the snapshot icon's approximate elevation/altitude level,* rather than correspond with the player's position on radar at the moment of taking a snapshot. *Information was obtained by flying over the snapshot icon with jetpack and recording the elevation/altitude level. I included supplementary images in some cases where I didn't think that one was sufficient (where a different angle or zoom level was needed, in my opinion). Snapshot № 1: Frontwards of the central girder connecting the main bridge towers of Callahan Bridge (floating slightly beneath); the snapshot is positioned at the eastern side of the bridge towers, facing Portland. Spoiler Snapshot № 2: In front of the big burger sign situated above the entrance to Burger Shot in Chinatown, Portland (north of Little China Park's basketball court). Spoiler Snapshot № 3: Above bollards placed before the western arch in Chinatown, Portland; floating in front of the exterior side of the arch (to the middle of the oriental-styled roof facing the street/road). Spoiler Snapshot № 4: Above the 'Sweeney General Hospital' sign at the hospital's entrance in Portland View, Portland (labeled as Trenton in Snapshot 3.3.11.2 GTA: UG). In addition to being technically above it, the snapshot icon itself is actually positioned a little behind the sign as well (closer towards the windows of the building), so do take that into account when trying to capture a photo. Spoiler Snapshot № 5: In front of Supa Save! supermarket located in Portland View, Portland (positioned between the two logos on the frontal side/gable end of the building, facing south). Spoiler Snapshot № 6: Frontwards of the southwestern crane (one of the tallest two) in Portland Harbor, Portland; floating ahead of the two climbing support collars attached to crane's mast/tower, facing south. Spoiler Snapshot № 7: Floating above the roof of Salvatore's House/Gentlemen's Club on the border between Saint Mark's and Portland Beach, Portland. The snapshot is positioned on the side of the roof facing Portland Harbor, just above the mansion's southwestern entrance. Spoiler Snapshot № 8: In front of the crane in Saint Mark's, Portland (floating near the top of crane's mast/tower, — frontwards of what appears to be a telescopic section — facing south). Spoiler Snapshot № 9: On the southwestern side of the Staunton Plaza building in Fort Staunton, Staunton Island; floating near the top of the first level of construction safety net, in the inverse/hollow corner space upwards of the red container filled with cardboard boxes. Spoiler Snapshot № 10: In front of the 'MSX FM' billboard on the northern side of the overpass stemming from the Callahan Bridge's western terminating point in Newport, Staunton Island. Spoiler Snapshot № 11: In front of the Staunton Island City Hall/Liberty City Museum in Newport, Staunton Island (the snapshot is positioned frontwards of the building's portico, floating in the center of pediment's gable; facing west). Spoiler Snapshot № 12: In front of the neon sign on the main arch gate of Kenji's Casino in Torrington, Staunton Island, facing west. Spoiler Snapshot № 13: Frontwards of Bedford Point Tower's east-facing base in Bedford Point, Staunton Island (the snapshot is floating in front of the sun-/clock-/window-resembling structure on the skyscraper's facade, in the direction of the neighboring Torrington district). Spoiler Snapshot № 14: Above the eastern side of the Liberty City Cathedral's roof in Bedford Point, Staunton Island. Spoiler Snapshot № 15: In front of the western side of the obelisk located in Belleville Park, Staunton Island (floating to the middle of the said obelisk, facing Shoreside Vale). Spoiler Snapshot № 16: Frontwards of the first girder of the Shoreside–Staunton Lift Bridge, near its eastern termination point in Belleville Park, Staunton Island (to the girder's middle). Spoiler Snapshot № 17: In front of the Francis Internation Airport's frontal terminal building in Francis Intl. Airport, Shoreside Vale; roughly in the middle of the main FIA terminal's span/length (the snapshot is positioned somewhat below the 'T' letter in 'INTERNATIONAL' portion of the airport's name, floating frontwards of the second/middle set of windows), facing east/Staunton Island. Spoiler Snapshot № 18: Ahead of the southeastern side of the Shoreside Vale Arch Bridge in Pike Creek, Shoreside Vale (floating slightly above the middle of the bridge, seemingly a tad closer to Cedar Grove, rather than Pike Creek). Spoiler Snapshot № 19: On the northeastern side of the southwestern apartment block in Wichita Gardens, Shoreside Vale; floating near the vertical middle of the building, in front of the windows, facing the road that divides the two pairs of apartment blocks. Spoiler Snapshot № 20: On the northeastern side of the northeastern apartment block in Wichita Gardens, Shoreside Vale; floating in front of the building's windows, positioned in the inverse/hollow corner space upwards of the apartment block's entrance (facing Cedar Grove). Spoiler Snapshot № 21: Floating in front of the cliffside situated at the end of the Staunton View Picnic Area in Cedar Grove, Shoreside Vale (roughly above the tallest tree in-between the two benches). Spoiler DISCLAIMER: Snapshot locations were assigned numbers in no particular order — in fact, the order used may not be the most effective one to follow when taking snapshots across Liberty City, and could be in need of a revision (given that the search for 25 LC snapshots is an ongoing process, the order of snapshot locations on this map is subject to change as new/currently missing ones are discovered). No exact in-game coordinates for the snapshot locations were included. Accordingly, the snapshot map blips were placed manually (as such, their positions do not 100% accurately correspond to the actual in-game positions of snapshots on the map) and the icons/symbols used for them serve only as a placeholder. Similarly, the map used was neither taken directly from the game files nor captured in a sufficiently high resolution, and as such, may fall short of the quality criteria (also reducing the legibility of the map as a whole, and the items depicted on it). As for the supplementary images used for each snapshot, they were taken in stock GTA: Underground (Snapshot 3.3.11.2)* and have been digitally altered** afterward, but aren't annotated (in terms of circling the visible in-game snapshot icons themselves or pointing toward them with arrows or similar symbols). All things considered, I'm not confident in the maps that I've provided and cannot guarantee that the information presented is 100% accurate, but I do hope that somebody finds them useful in some capacity. *Just to clarify — aside from GTA: Underground, no other modifications were used, be they optional/officially supported or not. Otherwise, I would have listed the specifics of the configuration used for the instance/copy of GTA: Underground in which the images were captured, but in this particular case, I did not deem it necessary [as it would not enhance or expand the understanding of the information presented for the users/observers]. **The images have been cropped and had an altimeter (altitude indicator) artificially added to the left of the in-game radar. Taking into account that I am inexperienced in graphic design and relatively new to this, it's very likely that I've used the wrong font for the snapshot location numbers and messed up the sizing of items such as map blips and text, drastically reducing the usability/readability of the map — surely this is not be the best way to convey [this kind of] information. If you happen to have suggestions for a better (more practical/more logically laid out) numerical order for the map blips (ideally, a speedrun-friendly one), or for a better (more readable) font or size of the items included on the map, feel free to share them. Better yet, go to Bedford Point and take a picture of snapshot with a Kodak. Assuming you haven't got a yee-yee-ass haircut, you could provide supplementary screenshots that are both greater in resolution (1080p or larger, regardless of aspect ratio) and more uniform/consistent in style (in terms of a specific/fixed time of the day in the game's time cycle, a fixed camera angle/position and/or zoom-in level for every one, and text- or shape-based annotations). If you were so kind as to provide a more accurate rendition of the map (preferably extracted from the actual game files, or captured in greater display resolution — ideally, 2160p or larger) or the exact map coordinates for every snapshot, that would be great. If you spot any inaccuracies or misinformation in my writing or the imagery I provided, please let me know, and I'll see what I can do to correct it. I reckon this entire post of mine is in need of a cleanup; if you're up to the task, don't shy away from paraphrasing it in a better-formulated way or summarizing it for the sake of others, considering that I'm not really capable of distilling information into concisely-written chunks of text (I apologize beforehand for any inconveniences that may arise due to the fact). Of course, you're always welcome to make a more pragmatic map for the Liberty City snapshots, using more appropriate or effective map blip icons/symbols and hopefully utilizing some system to make sure that the placement of map blips is precise and 100% true to the fixed in-game positions of the snapshots. If you're interested in re-using the assets, analyzing/dissecting or making tweaks to the maps I posted (in fact, I encourage you to add to it and make improvements as you see fit), you'll find all the resources (blank map templates, snapshot blip symbols, inscriptions & labels, etc.) at the Imgur gallery linked below: https://imgur.com/a/OyAX9PO Do not hesitate to contact me if you have any specific inquiries or requests; I'd be glad to help. Thank you for your time. I'm sorry if this is the closest you'll get to a guide or a cheat-sheet of sorts, but I'm afraid that's all I can offer right now. I'm doing my part. You've done a marvellous job yourself; the fact that you were able to find 23 of the 25 snapshots all on your own is a testament to your incredible persistence and extraordinary tracking skills. What can I say; you have a knack for this, as well as a keen eye for collectibles. You inspire me, daddy :3 On your topic, Mrspy1 made the following post: Quote from GTA Underground 4.1.6 75 Snapshots in San Fierro and Liberty City On 2/23/2021 at 7:35 PM, Mrspy1 said: Hello 98,then write please exactly where you found them. If I find another one, I'll let you know where it was Well, now that we have a map, I believe we can shift our attention towards achieving our mutual goal of finding the remaining 2 snapshots. In Mrspy1's second post on your topic, he listed what he found in his 2-hour search, and I believe that all of those locations are marked on my map already (including the ones from his third, and his penultimate post there). Given that you found 2 more snapshots than I did, I need you to heed Mrspy1's words and specify the locations where you found them, so that I may find them too and include them on the map. I want to make it more accessible for others, but I can't do it without your help — if you would kindly describe where you found the 2 snapshots that are not on my map, or if you marked them on the map, it'd help us all immensely (not to mention that it'd save us a lot of time and allow us to focus on the yet undiscovered ones). Please look into your Gallery (located in "GTA Underground User Files", in your user account's 'Documents' folder). If you somehow tracked your progress elsewhere or have them all memorized in your head, just contrast them with the ones I found and deduce which two it is that I haven't gotten around to yet. Hopefully, if we're just lucky enough, the 21 of the snapshots you were able to find will turn out to be different from mine, and once we combine our findings and eliminate the ones that both of us were able to find, we'll be left with at least one of those missing two. Once we ascertain the location of the 2 snapshots [you found] not featured on the map, we can inform the others (I'd make sure to tag Mrspy1 and other members who were interested in the topic, like GuilhermeSantos and m0nku), and we can come together in an effort to demystify and solve this elusive puzzle at last. Once it's all ogre, someone could cover it in a video and upload it to YouTube to spread the word. Either way, I'm eagerly looking forward to your reply. By the way, would you mind disclosing the approach you've taken or the methods used (if any) throughout your tireless search for the snapshots? There's no hurry, though. In your herculean efforts, you've done more than enough for us, having proven that it is indeed possible for one person to come so close to finding all of the Liberty City snapshots in GTA: UG. For the time being, I'd advise you to relax and go get some sleep — but before you do, there's one more thing. Spoiler I've seen you use it, but @GTUND is not a valid tag; for it to work, you have to include an existing GTAForums member's display name. Since there's no members currently going by the display name of "GTUND", I'm afraid that [some of] your words may have fallen on deaf ears. If you intended to notify the GTA: Underground team, you should've tagged one or more of its members or official representatives specifically, like dkluin (GTA: UG Project Leader) or The'Truth. Here's how it's done: @dkluin @The'Truth @GTAGamer98 @Crystalien After typing the @ sign, you need to type a desired member's display name ("Crystalien", for example). As you start typing "@Crystalien", a list of existing members with matching or similar display names will pop up (encased in a box/bubble of sorts) — for it to work, you actually need to select the specific member you want to tag, and the result should look like @Crystalien. Members of the GTA: Underground team oftentimes read all the posts in the mod's sub-forum, but seeing as how they have to balance their personal lives and finding time to work on the mod itself, they usually do not have time to reply to so many posts (at least that's what I think). A better place to get in touch with them would be the official Discord channel. Note: I only used myself to demonstrate an example; I am not a member of the GTA: Underground team. @Mrspy1 Given how you were readily willing to help GTAGamer98 and managed to find 9 snapshots in 2 hours with no outside help, I think you might be just the right person for this. If you happen to be on Snapshot 4.1.7 of GTA: Underground, I'd be grateful if you could do me a favor. I need someone to inspect the 21 snapshot locations marked on my map and verify that they are all valid in the latest version of GTA: Underground — according to dkluin, there haven't been any changes to the locations of snapshots in the Snapshot 4 branch of GTA: UG, so we should be safe in that regard; however, it'd still be a good idea to double-check in case I made a mistake somewhere. Once GTAGamer98 identifies the 2 snapshots that are not on the map, I will incorporate them into the map, so I just want to make sure that the info I already gathered can be relied on and isn't incorrect or out-of-date. That way, others can focus on tracking down the 2 snapshots that we haven't found yet, without having to worry about the accuracy of the information we already have. By the way, congratulations on finding and identifying the 12 snapshots, and thanks for updating us on your progress in real time. You're probably the first person to publicly disclose the locations of so many Liberty City snapshots, so it can be said that you made a breakthrough in that regard. Had I managed to release this map earlier, I would've probably spared you the trouble of searching for them one by one all by yourself, but seeing as how you seem to have plans for a map of your own, hopefully this makes it a little easier on you and saves you some time. Keep up the good work, sir. Mrspy1
Hi. Im still there.Thank you very, very much for your help, Crystalien.By 09.05 I found two more but they are already on your map - it was 09 and 16. Well I started to prepare the map after finding 13 of them but only as a graphic file.Funny Fact because of the plot, I wanted to use the map from the LCS.Crystalien, your map is very well prepared and looks just great!Thank you for posting descriptions and photos of where to find the Snapshots. For my part, I would like to add that searching at the beginning was easy, especially since I already had an idea where they can be after the standard 50 in S.F.I have to admit to the mod creators the style in their locations. On the other hand, some of them are so located that it's hard to find them, even if you guess where they are. For example, I myself missed No. 06 and 10 on your map. Despite the fact that in the case of no. 06 I checked the crane twice. As requested, I will check their locations in Snapshot 4.1.7 but il take me a few days. I think until the end of this month.I also have thoughts. There are 25 Snapschots on 3 Islands. 8 (with Bridge) on Portland, 8 on Staunton. This means that one island must have 9 of them. Surely 3 are still to find on Shoreside and maybe even 4. The last 25 can unfortunately be anywhere. Though I am thinking of the last island. I did not look there at all.Already from your map you can see that we need to take a closer look at the F.I.Airport and the runways. I am just glad to be of service. It's nice to know that you've made additional progress in the meantime. Truth be told, I also initially considered using the Liberty City Stories or one of the GTA III depictions of the map, but decided against it when I remembered that GTA: Underground's Liberty City is unique and that using either of those would negatively affect the accuracy of the information I was trying to present — thus making it less useful to those who wish to find the snapshots. I am already using an outdated version of the modification, and taking into account how more and more LCS elements are making it to GTA: Underground's version of the city, I realized it would be better if I just used the map provided in the game as is. I couldn't in good faith just use Liberty City from the map provided on the mod's official website due to its inadequate resolution/dimensions. It would certainly be nice if someone using the latest versions of Snapshot 4 could share a high-resolution shot of the in-game map (for obvious reasons), but considering that the actual locations of the 25 snapshots remained the same, the fact that my map was taken from Snapshot 3.3.11.2 of GTA: UG should make little to no difference. During the process of recording the locations to plot onto the map, it turned out that I had somehow totally overlooked snapshot № 1 even though I had discovered it previously; fortunately, I realized that it was missing from the map when I checked whether all the locations you shared with us really were on my map a second time. I felt as though I had stumbled upon a snapshot on one of the bridges, but avoided going through the photo gallery and in-game statistics thinking that certainly I would've recorded it along with others if that was the case. I believe I triple-checked that the locations of snapshots I was able to find are correct in the version of the mod I have, but one can never be sure enough. \_(`~`)_/ In regards to the process of finding them, the initial thirteen came to me easily as well, but it may have something with my knowledge from searching for them in the past versions of GTA: UG, as well as the vanilla ones from San Fierro. Seems like I started looking for them on Staunton Island, and then across Shoreside Vale and Portland, but the most difficult bit was finding time for it, hence why it was done in a rush. I like the way you're thinking. Yeah, it occurred to me too that one of the islands might have 9 snapshots located on it, but it's only if our presumption that there are 8 of them for every island is correct. I mean, it stands to reason that at least 3 of the remaining 4 would have to be on Shoreside Vale (based on what we currently have on the map), and nothing in particular would lead us to believe that the developers wouldn't space them out equally like that, but as the other possibility is still likely. As you've said, the 25th snapshot could be anywhere, but the developers did hide those 4 snapshots cleverly, so in spite of so many of them discovered and densely close to one another in Portland and Staunton Island, those elusive 4 could've just as well escaped our sight there. Your suggestion to check the Francis Intl. Airport area is a sound one; I really like your approach. After all, I did kinda rush while searching for snapshots there. A peculiar thought also crossed my mind; since GTA: Underground made several rooftops of buildings solid and adapted them to fit San Andreas' hallmark philosophy of being made to be fully explorable by flight (for a lack of better words), some of the snapshots might be hiding in unusual locations that perhaps wouldn't have been easily [or at all] accessible in GTA III or GTA: LCS, but that would've made sense if LC made a full appearance in GTA: SA. While we're at it, we should take into consideration the notable locations mentioned in the GTA III and LCS manuals. To be honest, I was expecting a snapshot to be somewhere 'round Cochrane Dam, or perhaps where the lighthouse on Portland Rock is. I don't think I found a snapshot at the Cedar Ridge Observatory either, but then again, I did not have much time to work with. It's no wonder that placement of some of the snapshots follows the philosophy Rockstar had taken with the ones in San Fierro; the two cities are somewhat alike, and photographing some common elements does contribute to the feeling that this iteration of Liberty City is a natural extension of the original game's world. You are right about the developers having style when it comes to scattering the authentic snapshots across the city — gotta give it to them. It shrouds this quest in a veil of mystery, one that makes you eager to explore again and again in hopes of catching them all. And thank you for agreeing to verify the known snapshot locations for Snapshot 4.1.7, sir! I understand that it takes time; there's no need to hurry. Besides, maybe GTAGamer98 responds back and identifies at least the missing two (of the ones he found) for us. When you are ready, come back here to inform us on your findings. As for me, I doubt I'll manage to find time for GTA: UG in the remainder of this month, but I have some ideas for what I will do for the next edition of my snapshot-hunting guide. I know for sure that I will capture the in-game map in a higher resolution, in addition to making the purple map blips a tad larger. I think I'll also get some higher resolution supplementary images, this time in the [now-standard] 16:9 aspect ratio, and I intend to include more of them for every snapshot. I am humbled by your feedback on the map; my skills with graphic manipulation software are lousy, having not worked with such programs in a long time — so it's good that you find the map well-prepared, because that's the same level of quality one can expect from my next edition of the map. My English is still rather rusty, so I doubt I will be able to reduce the word count or fix some of the clumsy wording and sentence structure, but I do intend to make the description section somewhat more presentable. Actually, I very much admire how much information you are able to communicate with your concise and to-the-point sentences, especially in your own descriptions for the snapshot locations; I find them very practical. Mrspy1
Hello,I checked the version 4.1.7 and as expected, all the Shapshots are in the same places. The observatory intrigued me and I checked its surroundings (and even the sight of the telescope) actually a whole plateau above closed tunnels (power lines etc.) but I didn't find anything there myself. Also the upper part of the dam with the lake, I think we can delete it from the search list. The hospital building also falls off, as does the interior of the Metro Station at the Airport. The control towers and the roof of the main airport hall are also rather clean.I was also wondering about the location of number 10. It practically makes no sense and this billboard is in no way interesting. In fact, it's a rather inept attempt to interest us about this tunnel by the Callahan Bridge. But that got my attention to the tunnel entrances. I checked the entrance in front of the airport and it was successful. Another (No 22?) Shapshot is near the entrance to the tunnel and near No. 17. exactly in front of the ,,,Star Industries'' billboard towards the north. I Suggests concentrating on other billboards and areas by tunnel entrances. The blinking glow of the Snapshots occurs between midnight and five o'clock in the morning and this is the best time to look for them. Thank you for verifying the locations of the 21 snapshots from the map, and congratulations on discovering the 22nd snapshot! I shall integrate it into the next iteration of the map, though it would probably be more productive if I unveiled it after we find one or two more new snapshots, so as to reduce the number of revisions for the map. You've shown your resourcefulness once again by additionally inspecting all those areas and allowing us to cross them off our search list; with that out of the way, we can now fully shift our focus towards finding the remaining 3 snapshots. As for your interesting observation regarding the location of snapshot № 10, I am inclined to agree with you — the billboard itself does not appear to be in any way remarkable or out of the ordinary. I have to admit that it is placed conveniently, though — it is very easy to stumble upon once you reach the southward/upper end of the grassy slope positioned between the large billboards on the median strip that separates the highway lanes. Another thing it has going for it is that all the billboards feature the prominent Liberty City radio stations featured in the modification. Also, it is easy for the player to climb the slope and admire Staunton Island's skyline towards the south, and if the player were to take out the camera, it would be hard to miss the snapshot. In my supplementary images, I went for the close-up shots, but it is entirely possible to step back farther and capture the island's skyline in the background (in the same frame as the snapshot itself). Other than that, I am happy to hear that this particular snapshot enticed you to pay attention to the tunnel entrances and their immediate surroundings, and that the conclusion you've reached has led you to successfully find a snapshot that was not on my map. Thanks to you, we now know the locations of 22 snapshots in total. One more and we'll be on the same page as GTAGamer98 (at least quantity-wise), and then we'll have two more left to go. I hope he responds back eventually, for we still do not know if some of the snapshots he found actually differ from what we have right now. You know, I'd been expecting to find a snapshot at Liberty Memorial Coliseum/Bush Stadium, but was surprised to find nothing. I was convinced that there had to be a snapshot inside of the airport's subway station, near the statue/fountain next to its entrance, or at least around one of the control towers, but it's good that you explored thoroughly and confirmed that we can be sure there are none to be found there. When I get the chance to explore Liberty City in search of more snapshots, I will bear your suggestion regarding billboards and tunnel entrance areas in mind. Keep us updated on your progress, and feel free to share any new ideas or insights that you may get along the way. If one is not averse to usage of cheat codes, there exist a few that facilitate the process of searching for these snapshots. I cannot confirm that they all behave the same in the latest versions of GTA: Underground (namely, Snapshot 4 and above), but the compatible GTA: Vice City cheat "alovelyday" does away with Liberty City's fog and increases the overall clearness/visibility, in addition to removing the greenish color filter that appears when using the photo camera's viewfinder and sniper rifle scopes. Also, the native GTA: San Andreas cheat "xjvsnaj"/"nightprowler" instantly locks time displayed on the in-game clock to midnight (00:00), though it does not prevent the sun from rising and setting, or the sky/map from brightening and darkening accordingly. Having a pair of night-vision goggles equipped comes useful as well, because with them engaged, the spherical glow of snapshots is visible in any time of the day, regardless of whether it's 00:00–05:00 or not. In any given situation, the native GTA: SA cheat "yecgaa"/"rocketman" (the one that spawns and automatically equips jetpack) and the likes of "jumpjet" (the one spawning a Hydra) may come useful for quicker transport and mobility. Spawning the likes of an Army Hydra via GTA: Underground-specific "carspawner" cheat will allow one to travel between the islands in no time. There are probably some tips I missed or forgot to mention but this is all that comes to mind at the moment. Hopefully it helps some of the lurkers watching this topic. Mrspy1
The cheat codes turned out to be very useful, especially setting the time at midnight with shnapshots still flashing. Quote You know, I'd been expecting to find a snapshot at Liberty Memorial Coliseum/Bush Stadium, but was surprised to find nothing I found "your" 23 Shnapshot for the stadium just an other side. It is colse to the Nr. 21. It is located in Shorseside Vale in that small park at the end of the island. On the bend of the road connecting this park with the Wichita Gardens, you can see it when you look from there towards the stadium on Staunton. Well, we equaled GTAGamer98 in number though I'm afraid his finds are the same as ours.In addition, I searched the northern part of the island between the hospital and the Wichita Gardens. Here are the that I think we can exclude: Cochrane Dam there, (however, I was expecting one there) with a way to it, Police station, Import/Export, Pay 'n' Spray, Cedar Grove homes with Cartel HQ.I still think that there is one more to find on this island, but I am starting to be doubtful about two on Shoreside. Wow, glad to hear that the cheat codes have helped you in your investigation; thinking it was common knowledge, I omitted them from the guide, but now that you mention it, I think I'll include them in the next iteration. I shall update the map and obtain the supplementary images as soon as I get the chance. That's some wonderful news! Some more locations crossed off our list, and another new snapshot (can't believe I didn't catch a glimpse of this one back when I was searching around that area >,<), just before the end of the month too. You work fast, sir. Well, it's reasonable to believe that there might be only one more snapshot left on Shoreside Vale; after your thorough investigation, there aren't many places left on the island for the snapshot to lie undiscovered. The other two islands have more densely-packed infrastructure (on that account, more potential places for the snapshots to be, with increased possibility of them evading our sight), so I wouldn't be surprised if we even discover that both of the remaining two snapshots will not have been on Shoreside. This latest snapshot you've found is placed in somewhat of a remote area, clearly meant to capture the scenery and overview of an island opposite of it. Perhaps one of the undiscovered snapshots also shares this purpose, one of capturing the panorama of Liberty City from afar (just a baseless theory, though). I've yet to find time for GTA: Underground, but I sincerely hope that we do not end up hitting a brick wall like GTAGamer98 did (at least that was the case the last time he posted; could be that he found at least one more snapshot in the meantime). Either way, I think you're onto something, especially with how your methodical approach has yielded excellent results so far. As always, keep us informed if you come across anything new or worth sharing, and best of luck with your continued efforts to locate the remaining snapshots. Unfortunately I have to step back from my theory about 9 snapshots on Shoreside Vale. It was based on the assumption that the island has the largest area and many interesting viewpoints. In fact, it is like this: a plateau/,,mountain'', a dam, numerous hills with viewpoints (a destroyed wooden bridge for example). Unfortunately, it turned out that there are no Snapshots there. The fact that 16 snapshots were found on two other islands was also not insignificant. I conducted a systematic "surface" search of the Shoreside Vale island. At the moment, I have only the airport to search (I came exactly to its fence), everything else on this island, in my opinion, is out of the question. There can be a maximum 1 Snapshot at the airport.Additionally, we can remove some stupid places: Ghost Town (two cases are in fact solid), all metro stations as well as the entire subway tunnel - the short section under the Callahan Bridge is "flooded". The bridge between Staunton and Shoreside also has no Snapshots. In fact, the first two islands are more three-dimensional. However, I do not believe that the remaining Snapshots are far out at sea or in LC. heavenly interiors. If you do not encounter a new snapshot while systematically searching the airport, then it is definitely safe to consider the entire island of Shoreside Vale as explored/done with (in regards to all the snapshots that can be found there). Just for the record, when you say that we can exclude all metro stations (along with the entire subway tunnel), does it also apply to the overhead/elevated railway in Portland? Either way, let us know what you found upon your inspection of the airport. I really, really hope that neither of the remaining snapshots is located far out at the sea or in the heavenly interiors; it would be most unfortunate if that was the case. I'm thinking of contacting the developers just to get a confirmation that the undiscovered snapshots are not to be found in those places, but I am unsure if now is the best time to ask them, considering that they are hard at work and must be quite busy with Snapshot 4.2 of GTA: UG. To be honest, I find the concept of snapshots placed in locations that would only be accessible by a boat (or other such watercraft) a little intriguing; it would kinda force the player to navigate the sea, and goes well with collecting oysters if the collectibles are in close vicinity in respect to one another (at least theoretically). Aside from oysters in San Andreas, there hasn't been anything significant to entice the player into water exploration other than an occasional easter egg or a rock formation. Wow, that must've been a fun ride. xD Props to you for having the commitment to hold down the aim button for the entire train tour, in addition to being attentive to the presence of snapshots while moving at that speed. I still haven't gotten around to playing GTA: Underground, so there's nothing new to report on my end. As for the Portland Elevated Railroad, we've got plenty of time to explore it and find out whether we missed any snapshots there. When you are done with detailed inspection of the airport, feel free to tell us what you found (so that we may cross it off our search list, or note down another snapshot if one is to be found there). Update: Just in case you haven't seen it yet, Miku Nakano has finally identified the remaining two snapshots we were looking for, and marked them on a map in the following post: In the end, your theory about there being 9 snapshots in Shoreside Vale turned out to be correct! Thank you for diligently working towards finding the missing snapshots this entire time, @Mrspy1, and thanks for being transparent and cooperative throughout the whole process. (^-^) You helped a lot by discovering the 22nd and 23rd snapshot, and by being a real MVP overall; kudos for that. Now that Miku Nakano has unearthed the 24th and 25th snapshot, I'll be able to create a more comprehensive guide so as to make the collection of all the 25 snapshots easier for everybody else; I just need to find time (it should be out before the end of this month). Wow, after more than 3 years, we can finally put this mystery to rest. Ain't it just beautiful? :') Edited June 3, 2021 by Crystalien Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/950508-liberty-city-snapshots-map/#findComment-1071555587 Share on other sites
