Survival Creator Hints and Tips

Recommended Posts

Hi all. Just want to make a place for sharing hints and tips on some of the smaller things in creating survivals that people might miss. Some of these I learnt from playing friends' survivals and I think others would like to know about them

I'll get us started:

1) There is no need to put in lots of legwork with every wave. In the Wave Configuration page you'll see an option to Copy a wave (to a specific wave or to All) at the bottom of the screen. This is the square button on PS4. This copies all enemy types and pickups. Better to set 10 specific weapons in wave 1 then copy and paste, rather than specifying 100 individual weapon pickups (this is if you like to largely determine all weapons rather than use the preset choices). It also saves a hell of lot of time in sorting Squad Configuration, and makes sure one wave isn't accidentally weaker than the previous one, as long as you always add on from a copied wave.

2) The Blimp! Many people struggle to find this in the menus. It is in Props then Stunt Signs.

3) The enemy APC and Technical Aqua work on water. While the APC will always move about chasing players, the Technical Aqua's driver will disband the vehicle and leave the gunner stranded. But still definitely cool cos he'll remain deadly if you get too close.

4) You can really work on the visuals with the Generator prop which lets off real light. It's in the Machinery section. If you place some in critical areas you'll have better visibility when playing in the dark (they come on automatically). And by allowing prop stacking and using advanced positioning, you can tuck them inside buildings and just let the spotlights be seen so they don't clog up walkways etc.

Look forward to reading your contributions.

Generator prop

"Generator & Lamp prop" I meant to write there. The "Generator" itself does nothing.

Cool. Didn't find that blimp. Good looking out too with the hints for them vehicles.

I created a few survivals but made them way too hard, they're not fun.

One thing I witnessed my new char didn't have to buy a homing launcher after I picked it up in a survival.

I wanna create one on Elysian island, some place the hot property spawns sometimes.

And enemies on technical aqua can work there

I had issues with explosive props not appearing in final versions but (sometimes) during the test waves

Do you by any chance know how the payout is determined?

Many enemies? Lots of health? Does it matter?

Payout is time-based, just like with Rockstars newer survivals. The longer you take, the more you get.

Thanks for the heads up.

Gon create a good one this time.

I packed all waves full with max enemies and heavies, too much health.

No fun placing 10 headshots or what to bring down one.

Re the explosive props disappearing, I have noticed this with a lot of dynamic props, like the fruit stand and bowling pins. Bit frustrating but I can live without them.

Place an enemy spawn point on a placed object:

Go to third person, move the enemy around on a placed object until it finally lets you place it there. Go out of third person and select the enemy, now place it anywhere you like.

How to edit enemy spawn points once the props bar turns red, when you have used maximum amount of props:

Delete some props to make some space. Do a testrun on wave 10, exit. Go back and move your enemy spawn points however you like. Place your deleted props back.

Cutter De Blanc

I always seem to run out of inspiration after wave 4 and just make wave 5 ultra kill mode with 60 enemies and 3 hunters

How do you keep it fresh and balanced?  I made a Survival on Nowhere Road and I die on wave 1, but it might be because I just suck at fighting I dont know
