Sad to see Ash is not fully around. At least he is still talking to people in some form. Hate to see him go after what has been done so far. I mean I wish I could help more with this. But anything I can do someone could and is probably doing it better. xD But yeah wish you all good luck still despite this annoying thing that has gone on.

ash did have a point in his last words, gtaforums is full of dicks and i mean let alone the V section.

it's sad to shut off big projects like ports. most are just little starts and then nothing is told later, or work is stopped halfway through.

About the Silver Palmetto update, if I have the Blue Hesper update would be need to redownload the Silver Palmetto one or would be possible update from Blue Hesper to Silver Palmetto via VCS Updater?

When released, it'll appear as a regular update. The only reason we recommend a redownload is the fact Sil Pal deprecates several files used by BH and the updater does not delete obsolete files (yet), so you'll avoid gathering junk in your VCS dir.

Well, and the DLC, like the Halloween DLC, will be deleted or will work on Silver Palmetto?

The DLC itself has been slightly updated in Sil Pal (only under the hood changes), so it'll just update and work still.

The initial plans were to release it before the New Year but that was before my interwebs went to sh*t for 2 months AND Ash decided to retire.

A side note probably worth mentioning, a Halloween Night Pack is activating this Thursday, October 30th!

 

It'll be available until Monday, 3rd November.

Has it been stated what the major update will add/change? I've really been digging what's available as is! I know it adds an update to auto-check for updates every X day or so, but that's about it.

 

I also liked the extra trial missions with the monster truck, which I think didn't exist in other versions. Was that planned for the game, or did someone take the initiative to implement it? Been trying to finish up with Rampages as I've done everything else, and it's a little hard as the Spaz 12 takes much longer to load than in the PS2 version. I assume that's a bug?

There was a changelog posted some time ago by Ash, but as for the final goals, they're not specified anywhere.

 

SPAS thing, yes maybe, weapon.dat is still from San Andreas. And Monster Truck Time Trials were my idea, back when the map was done by hand by Luten and HM and Luten made the dirt track, I was testing it and took a SA Monster Truck to it. Loved it so much so I pushed Luten to create a VCS style truck and scripted the extra submission :p

 

 

EDIT:

Monster Truck's name was invented by Ash and last thing you could say about it is that it's random - nothing we add by ourselves is random ;)

Cool stuff on the Monster Truck, I assume all of the new things listed in pink on the first page are entirely new? Are there plans to go beyond that with other types of missions?

 

I noticed a few things left over from San Andreas besides the weapon data on the Spaz - which actually reloads the weapon twice and shoots much faster than it did in VCS, so I imagine there's overlap between what it's being converted to do with what it used to do - like the game looking for bike stats while I was doing those trials. Besides that, it's really an incredible representation of Vice City Stories. I wish I could offer something to you guys to help this progress because in the image quality and performance alone this stumps both the PS2 and PSP versions, even if this lacks the whole game at present. :p

 

It really astounds me that no PC version of either Stories game officially exists on PC, so I do hope the efforts here at least get half of the Stories series on the platform.

Well of course there are leftovers yet. That's why it's still in BETA.

New story missions, nope. New side missions not going beyond III era style submissions? Surrrrrrre.

I didn't mean actual story missions. The only way I could see one doing that would be if there were mostly-completed missions and all one had to do was fix a spot here and there. Anything less than that would be nothing more than original missions, I'd argue. :p

 

More stuff like the added time trials, like say maybe more races or something.

That one actually confused me a bit when I started playing the mod, because I was 100% sure there wasn't any monster truck in original VCS :D

It looked so similar to other vehicles I actually thought it was unused or beta or something. Good job making it fit so good.

Sooooooooooooo lemme get this straight... The important thing in this log is that Ash won't be doing anything for GTAF community, inc. VCS PCE here in this topic. In another word, he may still work on the project, but won't talk about it here bcoz he hates GTAF now (so he won't make another acc to post stuff). Given that Silent passes out Ash's word on the Weapon Icon, I've seen this very likely to happen.

 

Long story short - we can believe that Ash is still working on VCS PCE, he just won't be there to talk to us (which is sad). Silent would be the only member left here on GTAF to keep us updated (As someone mentioned, Luten is nowhere to be found and I doubt CP would take time posting stuff here either)

Ash will finish the stuff that he started for the next Beta and then he's done. He won't be doing any extra work on the mod other than what he's already started working on.
