We're starting to think it's not possible, it should be doable in VC Engine though, so if you guys get to that point, you can actually surpass us!

I'm no scripting expert, but I think anything is possible if you have the right mindset for it. Perhaps this is a bug that can be fixed by asking someone who has experience with total conversions -- and yes, it is hard for men to ask for directions, I usually wait until i absolutely can't do it myself, about the same boat you guys are in. The only problem now is finding someone more experienced than Silent to to ask them how they would do it. I feel like you guys have all but one piece to a 10,000+ piece puzzle.

Loved that last pic showing the sun now placed properly in the game, it really reminded me of VCS.

Random fact, did you know R* messed up the code in one place SO much so they were extremely lucky it did not crash? :p

 

It SHOULD crash, leaving EVERY SA mess up at the very beginning of the loading screen. Oh Rockstar.

We can sit here whole week arguing about MTA vs SAMP etc, MTA might be better in some things but it lacks the community. The community is VERY small compared to SA-MP trust me. It wouldnt be worth at all investing your time (only) in MTA.

Well yeah the SA-MP devs are the ones that need to do it, not you ;) I already said that some time ago. Thats something that we need to wait and pray for lol.

You even went on SA-MP forums offering your help if there was any help needed regarding memory addresses or something, but dont you worry because we're talking here about multiplayer. Thats not a job we want to put over you, we're just discussing stuff that can be done by you (like some objects, interiors, etc) that would have good use in an eventual multiplayer mod, which we never use in the singleplayer or just see it in the cutscenes.

 

All we want is you to keep working ont his mod the way you're doing and if you're able to bring in a couple extras here and there meanwhile throughout the versions that's all! The multiplayer is someone else's business.

The MTA community seems pretty big to me. Most SAMP servers aren't even English and the netcode on SAMP is so bad compared to MTA. I'd rather play on MTA anyday over SAMP when it comes to VCS being on one or the other.

It wouldn't be from 2dfx, so I assume its from VCS

TTDISA could be called that, but it introduces it's own few bugs and raises mods incompatibility level way too high. Silent, though, made some patch for it, but I didn't look into it.

Still early days in terms on MP with MTA, NTA is doing wonders adapting it so it runs with VCS PC, but it's not in a state where it would be good to open tests just yet, plus there's just a lot more on the plate to focus on for "Silver Palmetto" which, just to avoid confusion on this matter, is NOT BETA 4, it's BETA 3.1, each new .number build will get a new working name and release. Doing this way because the methods, tactics and well, teams in a sense, working on BETA1 and then BETA2 and eventually BETA3, all differ in an insane amount, where as BETA 3.0 "Blue Hesper" onwards, we have our methods, tools, etc, so since both internally and externally there isn't a HUGE amount of change like the jumps between 1, 2 and 3 were, it feels right to keep any future builds within the 3 stance.

 

So just to sum that up:

 

- BETA1

- BETA2

- BETA 3.0 "Blue Hesper"

- BETA 3.1 "Silver Palmetto"

 

This way you can expect the same region of BETA 3, just expanded, more added and fixed.

By NTA you meant NTAuthority correct? I was confused there lol I like that each new number will be named differently as well. I'm going to message NTA about coming on as a multiplayer game tester. As I've mentioned before, I just want to help in any way possible to improve this game -- including multiplayer adaptation. I might not be a tech wizard like you guys, but I can log bugs and suggestions for the conversion.

This is a good idea Ash because version 1 was unstable, version 2 was professional hand-made job, now version 3 is almost original conversion.

I found out how to beat Truck Stop with another way

You should kill the guys on the truck when the truck is entering the long highway from Vice Port to Downtown, that way it'll take the road from there and won't get stuck in the bank, it'll hit a tree and stop though but it can be pushed out easily.

Oh, can't you just make something like Mission Failed "it's too late" or something when the car reach some position and destroy this car?

There are God damn ways...

Get some invention and modify this mission, improve it if you can't fix that bug. I think the delay is too long because of that.

Just thought. What if you guys put this game on Steam? Either via Greenlight (What? VC Rage are really trying to.) or by talking with R* about making it DLC for SA. I think they don't have a reason to refuse (unless they're making their own VCS for PC).

As much as we'd love to, we don't want to. MAYBE it would be possible, but just look at current amount of "OMG ONLY 13 MISSIONS SUXXXX" and "LOOOL NOOB ITS SANANDREAS" complaints (YouTube mainly), multiply it by 1000 and you'll get the amount of hate mod gets after it appears on Steam :pp

 

Deffo not at this point.

I second that.

 

Also, just a random curiosity, are the internal game testers professionally taught with technical knowledge, or are they just as knowledgeable as any of us external testers? I mean, have they taken courses to learn how to be a game developer and such? This question doesn't affect me in any way, it just came to me out of the blue lol

No date given apart from, in the next few months. :p Last time we gave a date, we pretty much brought Crunch Time upon ourselves, which, was fun, but also hell, really gave that deadline feel that many developers have to put up with in the actual industry, so yeah, we made a promise, June 6th and as we got closer, we rushed, worked like mad, and made sure we stuck to that date, and hell, I was even here at like 4am doing multiple uploads to get the project installer out there as much as possible and to make sure we DID meet June 6th in at least America (Sorry Australia and most of Europe).

 

So yeah, as crazy as all of that was, we noticed it was a completely un-needed stress, we're doing this on the side and because we want to, we're happy we did that challenge, but it made us realise for future build releases to just keep quiet until we're certain of a point where we can just unleash it.

 

But it is coming, don't worry, progress in the past few days alone has been more than the past two months, so we're kinda going full swing again.

@HackMan: I think the reason Silent stopped is not just the bug, it may reappears later and if they somehow managed to fix it, regression test will take much more time to complete if more missions were converted.

Ahh another chunk of East Island done, ....*PSP Textures everywhere* WHY ROCKSTAR, WHY? That whole rushed East Island thing is kicking in, some of these buildings look horrible, no fault of ours, I guess Rockstar thought it would just about get away with it on PS2.

Technically Vice City Stories is a spinoff, so that could explain part of it. Perhaps, when you guys get the time, you could improve the buildings a bit texture-wise.

It reminds me how it was on Vice City. Some buildings like shops are better quality so it looks more realistic than just the texture and only one face. It depends to author of models.
